  1. I'd like to congratulate Upperman on a great season. I'd also like to thank them for making the game one of the best we've ever seen. It's games like this one that make fans of us all. Hold your heads up high. You all have a great team.
  2. Both teams played well. It was tied after each quarter. Central is way better than they've been given credit for. Upperman simply got tired toward the end due to Central's depth. Central hit their free throws.
  3. Ha ha! Very funny. At that point, I really didn't care who was leading...lol /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  4. I saw it. It was a funny sight. But, not as funny as me and Joe H. doing the same in the middle of the section! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  5. Well, I for one will be praying for a speedy recovery for Gabby. Maybe you could use your connections and let her know we're all pulling for her. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> I'm going to do my best to make it over on Wednesday.
  6. That's good news, Maniac. I hated it for her having to sit on the bench the second half. I'm glad they won so that she gets to play again. It would have been a shame for her H.S. career to end like that. I'm looking forward to the trip over to the 'Boro. I was really impressd with Upperman's team. It's a shame they met so soon. In my opinion, that was the championship game.
  7. That may have been the best H.S. basketball game I've ever seen; boys or girls. Tied after every quarter except the most important one. "Clutch" Adams iced the game at the line. I noticed that Upperman had only 5 players score. Central had 9 players score. The depth helped. This game wouldn't have been as close had Gabby Jordan not left the game with an injury. I hope she heals up before Wednesday. I now she was heartbroken that she couldn't play the second half. Congratulations on a hard fought win. Keep that intensity. Go Big Blue!!!
  8. I don't think the players themselves are cocky. Our fans may be a little proud of them, but that's no reason to call the players cocky.
  9. The Roundhouse should definitely be rockin' Saturday night. I, for one, can't wait. I don't know a thing about Upperman except for what I have read. But, given what I have read, they should be respected. Central had better show up ready to play. (I'm confident they will) To all of the Upperman fans that will be traveling to McMinn Central: drive carefully and be safe. GO BIG BLUE!!!
  10. I'd like to echo CATFAN and say congratulations to the Chargerettes and wish the best of luck to both teams. I hope those from Polk that can't make the trip to Livingston Academy will show up at the Roundhouse and watch what should be a great ballgame.
  11. Should be one heckuva game. Central will be at home in the Roundhouse and the Bees will be as mad as hornets after losing.
  12. The Chargerettes defeated the Polk County Wildkittens 52-31 in the Region 3AA championship.
  13. Hey Maniac, I'll see you at the game tonight. Save me a seat if you get there before I do. It should be a good game. I think raider2 had some decent points as to why Central won't win the state, but I wonder if he/she would apply the same logic to other teams. I mean, you can make a list of pros and cons for any team in any sport. Why just the Chargerettes? I know the thread was entitled "can mc minn central win it all?", but jeesh, you can really feel their disdain for the "baby blue" as they put it. I seriously doubt that raider2 could "objectively" come up with any reasons why Central could win it all. I don't think they are very objective. I've said all along that Polk is a good team and it's hard to beat a good team so many times in the same season. I'ts the law of averages. But I think if Central comes to play and gets out to an early lead, Polk may then think: "here we go again". Then comes the quicksand.
  14. I'm not sure if the following will mean anything tonight, but I like our chances. Feb. 24, 2009 at McMinn Central 64 Polk Co. 39 Jan. 29, 2009 at McMinn Central 67 Polk Co. 46 Dec. 5, 2008 at Polk Co. 38 McMinn Central 42 Jan. 15, 2008 at McMinn Central 58 Polk Co. 53 Nov. 30, 2007 at Polk Co. 43 McMinn Central 62 Jan. 16, 2007 at McMinn Central 47 Polk Co. 41 Dec. 1, 2006 at Polk Co. 48 McMinn Central 63 Feb. 21, 2006 at McMinn Central 62 Polk Co. 51 Jan. 17, 2006 at McMinn Central 82 Polk Co. 42 Dec. 2, 2005 at Polk Co. 36 McMinn Central 61 Feb. 4, 2005 at McMinn Central 52 Polk Co. 35 Jan. 7, 2005 at Polk Co. 38 McMinn Central 45 Feb. 6, 2004 at Polk Co. 42 McMinn Central 93 Jan. 9, 2004 at McMinn Central 76 Polk Co. 52 Nov. 29, 2003 at McMinn Central 100 Polk Co. 20 Feb. 7, 2003 at McMinn Central 86 Polk Co. 51 Jan. 10, 2003 at Polk Co. 30 McMinn Central 84 Feb. 27, 2002 at Polk Co. 46 McMinn Central 73 Jan. 11, 2002 at McMinn Central 73 Polk Co. 53 Nov. 30, 2001 at Polk Co. 54 McMinn Central 83
  15. I'm looking forward to this game. The place should be rocking! On a side note, I think it's awesome that Central is still playing at McMinn's gym while all their players can do is work the concession stand. Sorry, had to take the shot at the Cherokees. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  16. Well, if I remember correctly, and I do. After the 20 point loss to Central (that was #2 of 3 so far), Polk turned around and lost the very next night to Meigs? I'd say they were worn out. Don't get me wrong, I think Polk is a good team and I don't like having to play the same good team so many times (the law of averages is against you). But, you have to give Central their due. They are a very good team.
  17. Good points all, OldSchool! Let's not forget the bad taste the semis left in their mouths last year. That will take them to a whole different level of determination.
  18. Whomever either team plays in the sub-state, they need to be ready. Livingston Academy has played the toughest schedule in the state and fared pretty well. Upperman has played a tougher schedule than either Central or Polk and only have one loss. It's unfortunate that these four teams are in the same sectional because they are probably four of the five best teams left with the inclusion of Gibson. Just come ready to play.
  19. I saw the first half of the Polk/Meigs game. I'll give you that Polk looked good, but remember, Meigs only has 8 players. Their point guard was absolutely worn out before halftime. I'm just saying that Central has much more depth and quality of players than Meigs. That being said, any team can be beaten on any given day. I'm looking forward to it and the subsequent fifth meeting in the state finals!
  20. Central needs to come ready to play on Wednesday. It's hard to beat a good team three time, let alone four. No matter how many time you've beaten a team, you can't take it for granted. Just keep doing what you've been doing and you'll be fine, Chargerettes. Don't look at any other scoreboard. The only game that matters is the one you're playing. That being said, I think Central will take care of business.
  21. I'd have to give the AA edge to McMinn Central. I don't think I've ever seen a team so complete and dominant. Most teams I've seen live or die with one or two players. This is not the case with Central. I have yet to see any team at any level in any sport (men or women) as un-selfish as this team appears to be. Their senior class has won the district and region every year they've been there, so far. That's a lot of experience and a lot of big games. No butterflies there.
  22. Don't knock the blow-out games. They give Central's younger players valuable tournament experience. When you can pull your starters a couple of minutes into the third quarter and still win by 57, that's a good team! How many other top teams will be able to throw 10+ players at you with little or no drop off in quality of play. This becomes very important deeper in the tournament when players are getting worn down and getting into foul trouble as a result. I like Central's chances, but you still have to play the games. Anything can happen, just ask Sequatchie Co. Keep your focus girls and take them one game at a time. I'll be at the game against Brainerd tonight routing on the Chargerettes. GO BIG BLUE!!!
  23. If Central shuts down German, they should be fine. I think they'll probably win by 15-20. Did anyone see Adams steal the ball, split two defenders, dribble the ball between her legs from behind and then hit a jumper from the top of the key agains Meigs the other night? That was the best play I've seen all year.
  24. I believe that Central has too much depth. It should be a good game, though. Anything can happen. That's why the games are played.
