  1. I think I heard somewhere that Macon County isn't losing anyone. If that's the case, they will be very tough to beat. I also think that Central will re-load once again. It seems that no matter who they lose from year to year, they are always contenders. That just speaks to how great Coach Morgan is. Central is 132-8 over the past four years. So, I'm inclined to believe that Coach Morgan will find a way back to the 'boro next year.
  2. Was it any more classless than the Macon Co. fans booing the McMinn Central girls when they took the court? Just asking.
  3. Thank you for this post. You are not the first person to have these sentiments about the Charger faithful. I remember a couple of years ago, a group of Upperman fans came to see McMinn Central play in the state (we had just beaten them in the sub-state game). They said that the hospitality that they received when they travelled to McMinn Central for the game was beyond their expectations. They sat in our section at the state tourney and cheered on the Chargerettes. I've also noticed that the Upperman and McMinn Central fans have an excellent rapport on the message boards, too. I believe that it is due to mutual respect, humility and respect for the game.
  4. I think I may have a solution to the less-than-stellar officiating that always seems to plague the state tournament. I propose that Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama (or any other combination of states)swap officials for the tournaments in such a manner that no two states' referees officiate each other's games. For example: Tennessee's refs officiate Alabama's games, Alabama's refs officiate Georgia's games and Georgia's refs officiate Tennessee's games. Something has to be done about the officiating. I've seen it year after year and in games where I was completely impartial. I was at the 'boro a couple of years ago watching a single-A game (my team is double-A) So, I had no dog in the race. I was disgusted at how one team (from upper east TN) got completely ripped-off. There are so many examples. I'm sure you all have many more to add.
  5. I was really hoping that I could get on here and say that we saw a great game between two great teams. Unfortunately, the referees absolutely ruined the game for both teams. It was horrible and maddening to watch. When any one team has four starters on the bench in the third quarter due to foul trouble, something is severely wrong. We did not get to see the true match-up that we all hoped for. It seems that the officiating is horrible every state tournament.
  6. Fixed it for ya! We're pretty particular about that given that McMinn County is one of our biggest rivals.
  7. McMinn Central Chargerettes win 66-41! Off to the 'Boro!
  8. Masengil went over 1,000 points for the season tonight. Not bad for a sophomore.
  9. I think someone forgot to tell Adams and Masingil.
  10. Wait, the TSSAA website has McMinn Central winning 10-7 and playing Smith Co. in the next round. So, which is it? I sure hope the TSSAA doesn't update their website with info from another website that whose scoreboard information comes from the fans on not officials.
  11. Way to go Big Blue!!! Now, keep up the intensity
  12. What he said. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  13. Those weren't my words. I'm just telling you how he said he felt. I guess he was just making a comparison to other schools that he's visited. I, for one, was impressed with the facilities that Central now has because my only reference was what we had 17 years ago when I played. We had virtually nothing. Our weightlifting equipment was sub-par and the facilities were less than adequate. Like I said, we were just catching up and he may have been just thinking out loud and trying to convince himself that he's making the right move (as we all do from time to time). Since I've been back home, I've been nothing but impressed with McMinn Central athletics as well as the support they seem to be getting from the community. But you can't blame Coach Derrick. He's doing what's best for his family and I wish them the best. You also can't blame him for wanting more for his team. That's what Central needs. A coach that is never satisfied.
  14. I had a chance to talk to Brandon when I stopped by the field house a couple of weeks ago before the Marion Co baseball game. I hadn't talked to him since we played together at Central. He mentioned then that he was considering this job in GA. We started talking about the good old days and all of the memories we had on the field in both football and baseball. I could tell that this decision was weighing heavily on him and that Central was where he wanted to be. But he said that he ultimately had to do what was best for his family. He was frustrated at the lack of financial support that the program had received over the years. I think in order for Central to hire a good coach and keep him here, there needs to be an overwhelming support from the community and the local businesses. If you can't keep a local boy whose ties and heart are with the Chargers, who can you keep? Best of luck Brandon.
  15. They did well, considering they had an extra inning game on Sunday that was continued from Friday and Catholic was able to rest. That rest means a lot to pitchers.
  16. Going to extra innings tied at 2.
  17. Still tied at 2 in the top of the 7th.
  18. A friend of mine just sent me a text that it's tied at 2 in the top of the 5th.
  19. What radio stations are broadcasting the games online? More specifically, the McMinn Central game.
  20. Congratulations to the Chargers! Keep it up and bring it home!
