Well the Simmons boy signed today with Bryan College will be playing as a varisty. Will be in the paper (Southern Standard) on Friday May 4/13

You people/coaches from Dekalb really know how to show your intelligence. Never once did I say that I was expecting to get my step son a college scholarship that day, in fact, I said he has already got enough offers to choose from. He only went because his coach suggested he should go to keep his options open ( I have also said this several times already). Never once did I say my son was Lebron James (if I really thought that I sure wouldn't have wasted my time going to the BCAT showcase Saturday). We sent out film when he was a junior, and senior. He is on several college recruiting websites and like I have said over and over and over he's going on to college and playing ball. The "anger" stems from simply this one little word "fair". It doesnt affect my step son one bit but it might some other player that comes to one of theses showcases and gets stuck with coaches like Dekalb and sits on the bench the entire time and any hopes that player had of a college coach being interested in him is now gone!! Thats been my point in all of this! Just be fair!!! Thats it! I am thru beating this dead horse and agruing with you simple minded people. Just remember this what goes around comes around.

I appreciate all your 8 points. I find it a contradiction for you to say I stand alone and I am the first parent to complain, but yet you say you endure ridicule year round from parents???? Now lets address some of these 8 points. Your point 1) Shirt wasn't left on the floor it was handed to one of the guys over the program. Your point 3) His playing time wasnt even close to just a few seconds missed, it was more like minutes! In fact, of the 2 hours of playing my step son played 15 minutes!!!! The two 5 minute games my step son played none 0 nada. So yes I firmly do believe it was for personal gain by Dekalb coaches. Your point 4) I agree. I will say last year was much better my other son was there last year and got an offer from Walters State. Your point 6) No cost to parents?? I could have swore I paid to get in?????? Your point 8) So you only want coaches feedback? I see. Let me say this (maybe you will feel better) it did appear that the other teams were getting equal playing time. Let me be clear, this event, and my step son not getting fair playing time, will not hinder his college basketball career in the least. All I have been saying this whole time is simply DC coaches did not coach fair, as far as WC players go, they were in it for their players, themselves, and no one else! So for you to think you deserve a thank you or for me to agree that DC coaches are good men.........is a stretch! Your thank you was getting the shirt handed back to you!! Here's a piece of advice for you......I am sure with all your contacts to all the coaches in the state you can get better "volunteers" to help you next year instead of Dekalb county coaches. Another piece of advice maybe things would have been different if 1) DC coaches hadn't got to coach their own players 2) WC had got placed on a different team 3) No score was kept because clearly DC coaches thought it was the NBA playoffs. SMH Look, does it ever cross your mind that coaches like Dekalb's are maybe looking to use this platform to try to make themselves look good so maybe just maybe their career won't be stagnant? I don't have to try to taint anything, your "volunteer" coaches from Dekalb done a fine job of that!! I

So let me understand what you are saying Rufus. You are saying that what all the people involved all the coaches etc was just a big waste of time. That is was a joke, that in no way was it to showcase unsigned seniors, even though thats what is was called. WOW I didn't realize that all of this was just for fun and was meaningless (your word)! Wow so maybe they should have just called it a "glorified pick up game" (your word). Thanks for clearing that up!!! and you call me ignorant!! SMH

I think you are missing the point myteam. No one is saying the coaches couldn't help out or that their players couldn't play. I am saying that the coaches shouldn't have coached their own players. I saw how the guy went thru and had the boys call out a number 1 thru 4 and all the 1's went on a team and so on THEN the coaches were asked to take a team. It was THEN at that point I am saying the coaches from Dekalb should have coached a different team. And you can say they went 5 in and 5 out all you want but that is NOT what happened with the Dekalb team!!!! It really isn't that difficult!! Explain to me this what does WC's record have to do with a player wanting to play at the next level??? Just because they don't have a good record then they should just quit??? Really??? Let some of the WC players like #20 and the 6'8" player get with a good college coach and see what they can do. The record is in no way a reflection of some of the WC players. I would dare say that if WC had a coach like say the Cumberland County coach their record would be quite different.

Look I could give a rats ........ what you believe or don't believe. I have no reason to lie, whine, whatever you want to say. It is what it is!!! Like I said whatever helps you sleep at night. When it's all said and done we will see who goes where and how far your so called "talent" from Dekalb goes. My point in all of this was very simple playing time wasn't fair and Dekalb coaches showed partiality to his players. Best of luck!!!

as far as the comment "they had the previous 1 hr and 45 mins to prove to everyone they could play" lets break this down. 1st game they played 6 mins of 20 mins. 2nd game 6 mins of 20 mins. 3rd game 3 mins total 4th game NONE. Now this may be hard for you so get your calculator out and total that up...............15 minutes total playing time!!! Yep I bet they broke a sweat playing that much! I know the college coaches must have surely seen alot of their talent in 15 minutes of 4 games!!!! Yep your right!! My mistake! SMH!!!!!

my son did graduate the one I was referring to is my step son (sorry for not saying "step"). I know Bryan college is looking at one of the WC players. As far as the other one can't say right now but will be in the paper soon. Should be in there after Saturday of this week. Not sure what "mess" you are referring to I saw several turn overs by the Dekalb players at one time the "big" post didnt even know which end of the court to be on. So you can't say all the "mess" was from the subs. And how do you get equal playing time when even the ref made the comment to the coaches "play the boys 5 minutes at a time thats what all the other teams are doing" I was standing right there when he said it and the Dekalb coaches wouldn't do it!!! I am not gonna just let you keep saying playing time was equal when in NO WAY it was!! It's just a straight up LIE to say otherwise.

ok whatever you say! You know everything! One player can't beat a team by himself. Futhermore, I agree WC coach is not good! But none of this has anything to do with Saturday! I am NOT the only person who saw the playing time was not equal I am just the only one saying anything! So think whatever you want to make you feel better. OH and one last thing so where is the two boys from Dekalb going to play college ball at???? For the record my son was not there playing Saturday he graduated last year and was offered basketball scholarships from Walters State, Bryan College, and a few more. So my comments are strictly based on what I saw when I was there Saturday. The facts are 1) Dekalb coaches should not have been allowed to coach their own teams. 2) Dekalb coaches purposely did not play the two WC players 3) The Dekalb players were by far not the best players on the court!!! First of all dctiger who do you think you are to say who got to play or not!!! The boys were there to get equal playing time (thats what they were told and thats what you were told) this was the purpose of the showcase!!! Second, if you think your "post" player was better than WC post player you are really sad! Let me guess dctiger this is as good as it will get for you right? You don't have the capablilites to go further in your career as a coach so you have to brag and showcase your boys to somehow make you feel adequate! The truth of the matter is my son has already decided where he is going, we were told by our coach to go and see who was there and keep our options open but in the big scheme of things there were no coaches there that mattered. So why am I so upset? Because YOU purposely didn't play the 2 WC players. But you just keep on defending yourself, whatever helps you sleep at night.

This was very disappointing. It was suppose to be for unsigned seniors to have a fair chance to play in front of college coaches for possible recuritment. Well this was not the case! Dekalb High School coaches were there with their players. Just so happens they get to coach the team their players is on. The rules were suppose to be the coaches substitute 5 players every 5 minutes so that all players get equal playing time. Dekalb coaches DID NOT do this. Their players played the whole time while the other players may have got 3 minutes of playing time if they were lucky. The last game 3 players didn't get to play at all!!! The guy "Tim" that was over this "showcase" was informed but did nothing about it. First of all Dekalb coaches should not have been allowed to coach their own players. There were other coaches there with their players but they coached other players not their own. Dekalb coaches should have been considerate to all players they were coaching and let all players get equal time to "showcase" their talents. After all, thats what this was suppose to be about right??

I heard they won due to Coffee County's final shot being after the buzzer!! Sounds like a thriller!! Also heard the officiating was that great!!! To be expected I suppose!

Did anyone see this game last night?

Warren County will get beat bad by White County and Cookeville. It's sad that Warren County barely beat a home schooled team.

I agree I think the whole situation was rude and ignorant. But I do feel like Coach M stopped the game to keep things from getting worse. He is not a coach that is known for quitting. He just thought that was the thing to do at that time. Maybe if WC gets to play VB again in February things will be different and the game will get finished. Until then I don't think people should assume the worse about the Coach. If he is a quitter when WC is down or things gets bad he would have done this long before now it's not like WC wins alot of games. I'm not saying anything bad toward WC ball players or the coach I'm just saying we have been in bad games before (Dekalb CO) and he's not stopped the game.
