  1. Way to go BLACKMAN BLAZE!!!! The good news made it all the way to Sevierville! Woohoo! So proud of you all! Keep it rollin..... (Don't worry....if the DNJ won't give you kudos....The Knoxville News-Sentinel will). Mr. Strickland.....I know you must be so proud! Good job to the whole team, coaches and staff. Good game Riverdale....
  2. Indian, same ole stuff. RDman is right in his accessment. if its not this, its something else. Every successful program has detractors. HH, personally, sells herself. Has genuine interest in players. Mom and dad like her. They would even move to be associated with her teams. Nothing confirmed here nor even rumored. People do move in situations such as floods, tornados, etc. Seems there should be waivers for acts of God and even that is no issue. Everyone knows the rules and the TSSAA. Straight forward. RD is right on the money. Oakland wishes they had her. My comments on HH's recruiting skills referred to her presence in her own school. No Rumor---Truth. We did MOVE here for our daughter to play for HH. But here's what you cannot seem to get through your scull. We were ASKED to move here and assist in getting the other player over here too!! That is considered "recruiting" by most but now we all know that the word "recruitment" now means "transfer"..... As far as some stupid middle school flyer and pizza night---we did that at Independence when she was there---didn't know it was a violation---but apparently it was a serious one. HH is a great coach and has had a successful program at several schools. She won the State Title which was her dream goal! Congrats!
  3. Better be careful HiCotton...... That football coach, Adeylott, will get his "former student/attorney" friend to send you a letter to order you to stop talking about Riverdale in a negative way like he did that assistant football coach last year when he went to the TSSAA and spent two hours giving them names, numbers, info and such about infractions. Most people involved in sports in this county and outside this county, know the truth anyway! There is nothing that can be done about it --as long as the good ole boys club is intact. Old Man Hoop Whatever.... By the way, we have never booooed any players at any school, but we sure sat back for about a year and read all the "mud slinging" against our daughter on this site and it ends today---do you understand me? I do wear Orange and I'm proud of it! I'd rather have my daughter on a team that plays by the rules anyday--- Gold Ball or not....it took real guts to step out on that court for 4 games and play in a hostile environment and I am proud that our daughter did it. She had absolutely NOTHING to do with the whole ordeal but she sure took the worst of it and she did it with CLASS this year!! Most of us "adults" could never do what she did! And by the way.....we also wear ORANGE in Knoxville and are proud of it!!!
  4. There is a famous attorney in Nashville that knows the TSSAA bylaws inside and out who once told me that "no one will ever bring down the mighty Riverdale High School---as long as certain alliances and relationships are in place". I'll leave it at that!
  5. oh they tried and we did not get the probation for barbee we got it for letting middle schoolers come to a game like everyone has done for year if there was anyway for them to get us they tried so we got slapped on the wrist and had moved on and some people hasnt moved on and keeps throwing things out there hoping something sticks but nothing really sticks..its ok we are the 2010 STATE CHAMPS so it has definetly worked out for the best... as far as where she lives i do not know i have never followed her home but she went to christianna for 3 years and now RIVERDALE so its whatever We used to live a mile up the road......no need to follow anyone. (Our daughter has actually driven her around). We, like most parents, actually had to MOVE to our school zone. This info about your player came out of Oakland High School....from some of the personnel there.... It is funny you mentioned that "nothing really sticks".... Other high schools in the State of Tennessee who have been slammed recently regarding ineligible players are wondering why "nothing ever sticks"....
  6. except this time she isnt going to a better opportunity in high school she is leaving for her husband who has the opportunity to be a head coach in div 1A so we are happy for her but sad for us Whether she is going to a "better" high school, or moving with her husband or whatever.....it still hurts like heck to the girls! After being sought out by other high schools in 2008 (including Riverdale), the coach sat the Indy girls down and told them that she wasn't leaving to go anywhere else. She scheduled parent-coach meetings and the very day of the meetings 2 weeks later, she quit. I know the team at Indy (even with Haislip and Lott) were not a "State Team", but they gave her two years of their lives and they were ripped apart along with the other girls. Crying, vomiting, etc.....It hurts no matter what! But the coach is very goal oriented and she finally got what she wanted and congratulations to her! She even stated in The Tennessean the reason she left Indy and went to Riverdale was to win a State Championship and she knew she couldn't do it at Indy---so good for her and your school! You are state champs----Woohoo! You can update that sign at Warrior Drive and add another year! Yippee!!! Aren't you happy today????? Two years at this school, and two years at that school just tears kids apart....(she is not the only coach that moved around alot). I guess the days of a coach staying at a high school more than 8-10 years are just gone....
  7. To all the Lady Warriors, the parents, staff and others..... I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE FEELING TODAY (I felt the same feelings in April, 2008 at Independence High School). It isn't easy and there are just no words to describe to you until you experience it yourself..... Best of luck to both coaches on their new adventure in Kentucky!
  8. I'm so sorry to hear about Coach Ricker. My prayers go out to him and his family. He was a great teacher and coach! Also, my prayers are with Chris Ricker whom I went to high school with and his daughter and family as well. No more suffering Coach! You will always be remembered at SGHS and all over the State of Tennessee! (Graduate of the class of 1977)
  9. No longer a rumor.....no article. Just a blog from Kreager in yesterday's on-line edition... Home Public Messages Comments Photos Blog Tom Kreager's blog Covering high school sports in Rutherford County. Hankins leaving Riverdale for UT-Martin Hankins leaving Riverdale for UT-Martin Posted 4/12/2010 10:37 PM CDT on dnj.com Riverdale football coach Ron Aydelott will begin search for a new offensive line and strength coach after assistant Jordan Hankins resigned to accept a position at UT-Martin. Hankins informed Aydelott of his decision over the weekend. Hankins, a Lewis County graduate, went to college at UT-Martin. Hankins has been a key member to Aydelott's staff as the line and strength coach, leaving a huge void. Riverdale's offensive line was best offensive front in District 7-AAA in 2009. Hankins also assisted other sports' strength training programs in past season. Comments (0) | Permanent Link Tags: dnjpreps
