    McMinn HS

A story from the Daily Post-Athenian: McDonald fills in as Tribe soccer coach Friday, May 22, 2009 jack slayton Sports Editor McMinn County head soccer Coach Bobby Earls did not accompany the boys' team to their substate game at Columbia Central on Saturday. According to McMinn County Director of Schools David Pierce, Earls is still the head coach, but assistant Coach David McDonald, in coordination with Athletic Director Jimmy Haynie, will be conducting the day-to-day operations of the soccer program for the time being. "We really have no further comment on the matter at this time," said Pierce. Pierce stated the school system would not address the situation publicly until, as he termed it, "this personnel situation" is resolved. Earls, a Tennessee Wesleyan College graduate and former Bulldogs soccer player, has been the only soccer coach at McMinn for both the boys' and girls' programs since their inception in the mid-1990s.
  3. I believe the reason refs don't call illegal throw-ins is it is so petty. I know a rule is a rule, but out of all the things that could happen during a game, I believe a bad throw is not very high on the importance list.
  4. Walker Valley beat Cumberland so they will play Mcminn Co. Tues. at Mcminn. I figured that Bradley beat Rhea so they will play CHS on Tues. at Cleveland.
  5. I've seen both teams play, and I am pretty surprised that it was a tie. I doubt that the refs were bias in either direction. Maybe there was a reason the ref said, wait till my whistle, if not that really stinks. And finally, with "It was not offsides because the forward never touched the ball until it had already been touched by one of your defenders." This can technically can still be offside depending on the circumstance.
  6. Are you sure? On coacht it states this is the first meeting between the two schools, unless preseason games do not count.
  7. I know nothing about Science Hill and I was wondering if people could put insight into this game? Match-ups, outcome? Correct me if I am wrong, but the only common opponent is Farragut, and SH lost by 5 on a neutral floor, and WV lost by 3 on a neutral floor as well.
  8. Obviously it was a great game by the showing of the score, back and forth the whole game. Though Shelbyville brought the entire school, I don't believe they were too much of a factor. Andrews is obviously one of the best players in the state, so sorry to whoever plays them next year. I also agree with WreckingCrew about the defense by Shelbyville, it was not anything special from around here. Congrats Walker Valley, good luck at state, and sorry in advance to any team who has to play Shelbyville next year.

I am pretty sure that McMinn, Cleveland, and Walker Valley will all be playing in the Cleveland Playday this weekend. I even think that Walker Valley plays McMinn and Cleveland, so we can see early how the outcome of this District will play out.
  10. I am not sure how the no losses at home came around, Walker Valley has obviously lost a few games at home in the past. Just like MustangManiac said, the gym really is horrible though, I don't know what was going through their heads when they built it. Just will the student section sit on the middle left of the visitor side? It makes it the easiest for the student sections to talk crap to each other? Though sometimes the principals designate the visitor section. Hopefully it will be a great game that goes down to the wire, and don't bring too many people or otherwise people will have to be standing next to the players on the court.
