Last weekend at the DB 7-7 tournament some of the guys previous metntioned had some good games. Hodge did good at QB moving the offense and scoring some points, while T-Powell made some nice plays from the slot. McPhetridge also looked really good at TE. Defense played pretty well after the first game. Petree at LB had a couple nice int's. Meade DB had a number of picks and one return for TD. Overall Powell went 5-5 for weekend, beating every team there at least once.

I hope this team continues to work hard this summer beacuase you can tell the winter work-outs are paying off. I don't see alot of stars on this team, but I do see some good football players, so if the Panthers can stay away from the injury bug and some of the young players get more exprience we should be fine. Thought the defense looked good again today. D-line looks very soild with 5 or 6 deep. D. Logan Rb had a good day for the offense. We will need to improve the O-line an our WR play, but for the 2nd practice I would say another good day overall.

I agree alot with HTV on what he has already mentioned. I think this team looks to me they have been working hard during the off season. Give alot credit to Coach Lowe,Charles,& Hawkins for that. Defense has alot of what I call straight up football players. Guys who will get to the football and when they get there hit somebody. Thats with 2 or 3 players learning new poistion this year. I think for the next couple years we will have a better overall team defense than in past years. Defense is always ahead of the offense at the start, but there were very few mistakes for a first practice. Very little jumping off sides, only a couple fumbles and I thought Hunter QB did a really good job running the team for his first day out. We look to have a pretty soild group of running backs with some power and speed. I guess one thing we need to improve on is catching the football. There were some drop passes today and I think this QB is more of pure drop back passer and we will need to have receivers that can catch anything that hits their hands. We still have alot of good players in other sports now, so when those guys are added to the mix we should have a better feel for the team, but for the first day I would say it was a very good start.

I agree lots of holes to fill this coming year. Spring will be very important along with the summer workouts. offense some other young players to factor in are RB- D.Logan, WR Woods, Wright & Ath Mcphetridge. Defense LB Skeen, DB Staggs. Lots of really good young players, but depth maybe issue at some spots.

I agree with the number of good D-Line the 4-3 would be a good defense for this group. Maybe not as the base D, but a really good second D. I think we are going to surpise some people on offense. They should be more balanced with the pass and run. Finding a TE is giong to be key and receivers that catch everything. Who are some of the receivers to look for next year. I really hope Houston goes on to the next level, he's great athlete and really good player. I've heard a number of schools have shown lots of interest, but I don't think he's signed yet with anyone.

Powell is probably coming off one of the most sucessful JV & Freshman seasons that PHS has had in many years. It's true they lost some fine football players, but the young guys should start filling those holes. Offense may look a little different this season. QB will complete more mid-range and short passes.They will need to find receivers with good hands. The run game should improve with some good young talent there. OL will need to find a couple players, three returners. Defense should be soild with a number of good DL players. DL should be the strength for this team. LB should improve with some better young athletes at those spots. DB will be new, but they have some good young football players there also. Should be better at supporting the run this season. Defense should get better as the season goes on.
