  1. Cleggy.....Richland will bring a lot of noise of their own. Their student section is incredible! I don't think there's a favorite in this one. Haven't seen WHH play...just looked at their schedule and. I've saw Richland play and they play very fundamental basketball. They screen well and make the right reads on their cuts....WHH better play fundamental defense or Richland will get lots of uncontested 3s. However, they don't have a strong presence inside and that could hurt them tonight. Pulling for the Raiders in this one. Richland by 1 (in OT of course!)
  2. Sorry...not a chance. You may have saw PC play, but don't make that assumption on one or two games. When the chips are down in a play or go home scenario, PC's studs will bring it just like they did against Mt pleasant in the region semis. Tucker and Rhodes are their known stars, but I guarantee that Garrett Hill will do all the little things that doesn't show up in the stat lines. To me, he's their MVP. He plays harder than anyone on the court, gets the ball to the right person at the right time, takes care of the ball, is a great on the ball defender and super quick, and plays incredible help defense. PC 67, MTCS 48
  3. Great post! Unbeliveable that a couple of PC posters are blaming WC for who made the Region team....what a joke.....but thats what you expect from them. Anyway, agreeing with ptguard, I've said this all year that Garrett Hill is who makes PC go. This kid does so much on the court....he's a great decision maker, plays with incredible tenacity for a small guy, is an amazing help-side defender, and just wreaks havoc on so many fronts. Tucker and Rhodes may get the praise, but without Hill this team would be fighting for 3rd or 4th in the district.
  4. I never saw the ref eject Sawyer and he did stay on the bench. When a player's ejected I thought they automatically had to leave the floor. Anyway ended up being same penalty.....I think Sawyer not playing will hurt a little more than most think....they're low on ball-handlers as it is and this will force Peyton to handle the ball a little more than usual. Plus Sawyer is one of only about 2 that I feel confident in handling the ball in pressure situations. No cwood doesn't pressure a lot but they may ramp that up a little tonite b/c of the situation. And gosh I hope we shoot free throws better than Sat. night!
  5. Yes it is. If we were to lose tonight, he'd be suspended the 1st game of his junior season. And to answer wildcatalumni, it was more than just a regular technical foul. A flagrant technical has to be reviewed by TSSAA and carries possibility of suspension and in this case it did just that.
  6. WC has a big hurdle to get over tonight. Cwood is playing well right now but in addition, WC will be without starting point guard Sawyer Ray. He's suspended for tonight, and if they win he's suspended for the next game also due to flagrant technical foul Sat. night. Somebody's gonna have to step up big if they are to pull out the W tonight.
  7. If you're talking about WC girls and I assume you are, no one in WC besides maybe a few of the parents expected them to be in the semis. They were just really bad this year, and several of the players couldn't wait for the season to be over....sad but true. And earlier in the year I expected Stown guys to at least make it to the semis, but after watching them the last few games I would say it's definitely not a surprise that they're done.
  8. A win is a win, but it don't get much uglier than that for WC. Tonite was definitely a trap game for the cats b/c of such an emotional win against PC in the dist finals and plus we're just not the kind of team that can show up and win no matter who we're playin, but it seemed we sure thought that tonight. I don't doubt 18-46 from the free throw line was the correct stat that you mentioned cat1973. I guarantee Shaq would shoot better than that from the free throw line. Hope they get this out of their system and bring it again Tues night.
  9. hmmmm......this sounds familiar.
  10. I agree with Mtp being undisciplined, but I definitely don't agree with the speed. Mtp's guards are very quick and Frierson will be the quickest player on the floor. And no they're not very good shooters, but if they get in the flow, they can knock it down like Frierson did against WC over the Cmas break. I think Mtp's size down low will give PC lots of problems. All said though, I do see PC getting the W b/c their players know their roles and play them well. If PC throws a hard punch early, Mtp will lay down.
  11. ...and you didn't address the insanity of WC not getting to the foul line all night. Honestly, I can't speak to the clock issue with much clarity cause I wasn't watching the clock.....I was watching the play and I don't know who in the gym would have had their eyes on the clock during the play. I know there was 4.??? sec left when the ball was taken out and 2.7 sec after the play? In my opinion, I would agree that it seemed more time than that should have ran off, however, I don't think it could have been more than 3-3.5 seconds which would have left us at least 1 sec on the clock. And when Peyton caught the ball, he shot within less than a second so it wouldn't have mattered....I definitely thought he could have got a way better shot off with 2.7 on the clock.....turns out it couldn't have been any better than that. If WC keeps playin well, then I suspect we'll see y'all again in about a week on the same floor.
  12. That's exactly the first thing I thought about.....this kid is such a clutch player and such a competitor! If I had to pick one though, I'd have to say that the catch at Huntingdon would be the winner. this kid is one of the best all around athletes in WC history.....he could pick any sport and excel in it.
  13. You don't even want to get into a crapshoot about the refs tonight...WC doesn't even shoot a free throw....what a joke. You're right about one thing...it wasn't a double dribble on Hill at the end.....it was clearly a walk. He caught the ball on the steal and took 2 steps before he put the ball on the floor. And are you kiddin me??? Gilboy has the ball wrapped in a bear hug and rolls over with the ball....definitely a walk. WAYNE COUNTY WILDCATS 2012 D12A TOURNAMENT CHAMPS!!!
  14. At the end of the game turnovers hurt them (and offensive rebounds) but the reason WC won that game was b/c of their defense. They bottled up Chard (6 pts.) and held Allen in check (think he had 14). If Gray hadn't hit some crap shots, WC would've won by double figures, but give him credit he made some plays and led them in scoring.
  15. Wayne County takes sole possession of 3rd with Stown win.
  16. Wayne County spanks Loretto 66-41. Great TEAM effort tonight.
  17. All the Huntingdon and South Pitt fans (and others) said this crap about WC's schedule in football this year. "We aint played nobody and when we play the almighty Huntingdon and South Pitt we would get destroyed". And I think you know what happened after that....throw the talk about the schedules out the window. All that matters is when you lace em up head to head.
  18. Wayne County will definitely be representing D12 in the Region....book it!
  19. Its possible yes, but Stown at home will be hard for Cwood to handle. I think Stown's size down low will cause a lot of problems for Cwood. I say Stown by 6.
  20. WC still has a very good chance at 3rd. All they need to do is win at home Friday against Loretto (which they came close to doing at Loretto w/o Peyton Mathis, and Cwood needs to lose at Stown which is very likely to happen. WC/Cwood split during the year, but Wboro beat the higher seed Stown and Cwood wouldn't have done so if they lose Friday.
  21. Ha that wouldn't happen with this WC team w/o somebody gettin a leg broke. Too many competitive kids. Actually we're not giving the rings out tonight....just wanted to get a rise out of you and mr hinson.
