I am a graduate from Madison last year. I will make this clear from the start. I am not here to bash ANYONE. Fighting over a game is silly. I don't know who started it or what. What I am about to say is strictly opinion. I am a college athlete. First thing to understand is I know how it is to lose an important game like that. I've been there and done that 3 out of my 4 years in high school. 90% of the time you will blame it on referees, whether the game was fairly called or not. And just because people are taunting each other on a message board still doesn't make it right to take any credit away from madison. You have to remember, Madison's girls showed NO disrespect to you, or your team. Please dont make comments such as "your stay at the boro will be short and yada yada." Thats not fair to the girls who have been working for 4 years for this moment. You wouldn't want that being said about your girls. I thought the support from your fans was great for an away game. I didn't see many high schoolers in your section, so i think that is really neat how you guys had all the parents and people of your community supporting your team. That's a great thing to see and thats what makes the sport what it is. I'll be honest though, I thought the game was fairly called. Both sides had questionable calls. I will openly admit that. My roommate from gibson even said before the game you guys played a different style of basketball and you guys played rough basketball. We found that to be true, but the thing is basketball isn't really intended to be full-contact. Of course its going to happen, but my roommate said you guys had players foul out every game, so that was no surprise you had 3 players foul out. I am not making my assumption off that and saying "yes all your players should have fouled out", but that was an unbiased opinion. He actually said you guys would probably beat Madison. I thought in the first half the referees were calling very little under the basket, and in the paint, but more out on the floor and perimeter. And they were niggly fouls. Both teams had them. But of course the rougher team is always gonna get more niggly little fouls on them. I was quite certain after watching most of the first half we were going to lose, but a shift in moment could have caused more frustration and possibly fouling on your part, i am not sure. But also, madison players weren't going to the basket completely strong, which made it hard to determine if they were being fouled, or if it was not a foul. That is completely up to the referee. You can say it wasn't. We can say it was, but our opinions don't matter. I though you guys had very good speed on the perimeter plays, and 2 very big girls in the post area, which makes a nightmare for just about any team. I congradulate you guys on how well you did this year, but I though coach Patterson did an amazing job. Taking nothing away from Madison's players. As they have taken nothing away from yours. No one from the girls team has said anything offensive towards your team. So just remember that these are high school girls. Give them your support, as i would do for your girls. I was just trying to break some unnecessary tension on these boards, because alot of things are being said that shouldn't. But congrats to both teams and good luck madison at state!
