  1. I find it interesting how folks are dogging Cleveland's schedule. Sure, they're not in districts 4 or 11, but you can't really help that. It's also a strange year in that Ooltewah, Baylor, and McMinn County all had losing records (but all three teams were better than their record indicated). Oak Ridge, Cookeville, Dalton, Science Hill, Christian Brothers, Independence, Lenoir City, and Bearden were all quality sides that Cleveland either beat or tied. Hardly a weak schedule.

I agree Arsenal. In my opinion, no team can make it to state unless you have a fairly good team. At state, you either are at your peak as Farragut was and you take home a championship(Congratulations to them) or you play at a level less than you are capable of and you go home early. A lot of things come into play such as injuries of key players which I know for a fact Cleveland had. It appears that everyone enjoys Cleveland bashing so if makes them happy, go for it. At least they are leaving some other team alone while they are doing it. Remember, what goes around comes around. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  2. agreed i really have nothing positive to say about Cleveland...except enjoy the win while it last

I agree all teams have fans that make inappropriate remarks about the other team and I disagree with them doing that, however, before extrapolating that to ALL CLEVELAND FANS make sure you haven't made any disparaging remarks yourself, such as "internationals on kingsbury defintely lived up to the flopping and taking an hour to get up..." The Kingsbury team deserved much better than that comment. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

  3. Sounds like you are not sure which time this was that the keeper and the forward had contact. Being there puts a lot of emotion into one's memory. The photo is just a snapshot in time that records what happens. The photo appears to reveal a keeper without possession of the ball hitting the forward.

I have no loyalty to either team, I just saw this photo and thought it would focus someone's memory.

yes that was foul wait actually no the keeper has the ball in his hands and the kingsbury player is running into him...or keeper is backin it up on kingsburys players face...

My only comment is that you cannot make a determination on one single still image. Was the ball knocked loose or was the keeper charging the striker. NO ONE can tell from that picture. I would suspect if it were the latter that a straight red would have been issued to the keeper which it was not. You are however free to interpret a single image as you would like, RockyTop. Enjoy yourself! /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

If this was the foul, someone may likely be withdrawing their comments.

I believe that was the second foul where the keeper was run into after he had control of the ball and the ball had been knocked from his grasp. Both players were carded, the keeper for retaliation. One picture however cannot make anyone sure of what transpired. You had to be there. The comment stands.

  5. I will disagree with you I was right there and youre probably a Cleveland parent but i was impartial to any teams i watched and it was a PK no doubt...but the ref was terrible the whole game but atleast he consistently was bad...

I left after that game and didnt see the Farragut game or Brentwood but from what the score indicates A)Brentwood and Bearden is gonna be an AMAZING game...and Farragut won like i expected and should take care of Cleveland next round...

Now to the games I saw...

Bearden looked dominant. They missed about 5 or 6 great chances in the first half before the keeper finally lost the handle on one and they found the back of the net...Second half they came out and finally connected on their finishes...Columbia looked either intimidated or just way out matched...

I was not impressed at all with Cleveland...yes...they won...give credit where credit is due...but for being the so called 7th best team in spring soccer in the nation...I wasnt impressed...Kingsbury took it to them in the first 5 or 10 minutes but then Cleveland setteled and began to work it and scored with i think about 20 min left in the half...second half was a lot of whining and complaining by both teams and the internationals on kingsbury defintely lived up to the flopping and taking an hour to get up...but Clevelands coaches showed that they obviously have never been here before because they were complaining a good portion of the half and i couldnt tell which of the 5 coaches they had was yelling...PK was well deserved...#20 for Kingsbury was the most impressive part of this game...if you put him on a team with the level of talent as good or near his he would be amazing...yes he was whining alot too but so was everybody else...and his yellow was another bad call by the ref because he had already left his feet for the header before the keeper caught the ball so it was 50 50 ball and yes he ran into him but the reaction by (i dont remember who) on Cleveland was unwarranted...crossbar saved kingsbury in the 1st overtime and goal for Cleveland was a nice leave by one player and great volley by the goal scorer...Overall i think Farragut should beat Cleveland 2-0 or 3-1...

My predictions are that Brentwood will beat Bearden in OT 3-2 and Farragut will beat Cleveland 2-0 or 3-1

No hard feelings to anyone if i may have offended anyone in this post just giving my perspective

If you're not trying to be offensive, you are not doing very well especially when you go as far as demeaning 'internationals on kingsbury" and criticizing the Cleveland coaches when obviously you don't even have a clue as to who said what by your own comments. Also, by the way, this is not Cleveland's first time to state as you stated by your veiled comments/insults. Having said all that to respond to your "perspectives" , there should be some good soccer coming up tomorrow night.

  6. If I read correctly they wanted to know what was called, which he gave what was called so how is that wrong? That makes the assement right, you just gave an opinion.

To say:?  "keeper came out and took kid out on a breakaway" is also an opinion! If you just want to know what happened----->Ref said keeper fouled kid. Does that statement satisfy you better? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

  7. Cleveland kingsbury going to overtime keeper came out and took kid out on breakaway

RockyTop, your assessment of the foul is inaccurate. Cleveland's keeper came out and got ball. The Kingsbury player ran into him. It should have been a no call but instead a very marginal official gave Kingsbury a PK which they converted.

  8. Clevelands keeper was terrible, he saved maybe 2 shots against us... one hitting the post. It just wasn't a good game for us and Cleveland won.

Shuster23, the field condition was bad for both teams and if you think Cleveland played their best soccer you are wrong. I was impressed with the class that your team, coach, and fans demonstrated. Don't ruin it now because someone not even associated with Cleveland High School make some not so nice comments about your team. I can assure you the Raiders have nothing but respect for Riverdale High School. In regard to Cleveland's keeper he is a great GK and I will put him up against anyone else in the state. If you only have to make 2 out of 3 saves to win that does not make you a "terrible" keeper. Think about it. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

  9. What a dumb topic.

If you feel it is a dumb topic, why are you reading it. There are plenty of post regarding BHS that I'm sure someone with your intellect would enjoy more! /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

  10. I don't have a team. I'm just giving my opinion based on my knowledge of the talent in this state. I have seen many of the AAA contenders this season from Memphis to Knoxville and of course here in Nashville. If you want facts I WILL GIVE YOU FACTS. The fact is that Cleveland won't win the state tourney.

MVM I read your post and I agree 100%. Statements like above that have no substance are just "Hotair" /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

  11. They will be making shirts for you in a few weeks. They will read "wait till next year". I will crawl from Nashville if Cleveland wins the state!

Well, Coolbreeze, I take it you think your team is going to win state so why don't you enlighten us to who that will be.

You seem to have all the answers or do you just make claims without any facts to back them up. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

  12. Cleveland's schedule shows how good they are.

    Great job.

UNDEFEATED! no other TN team can say it !!!

Someone should make some shirts for the fans to wear !

After reading your posts earlier today it is quite apparent that you are just taking another inappropriate shot at Cleveland and their accomplishments. Someday, when you grow up you will not need to make such juvenile statements to feel important. You really reflect poorly on a great program and tradition at BHS.

  13. Well the PK call was questionable. It seems to me that the kid kicked the back of our outside mids foot and let out a loud scream and dove that drew the attention of the ref as the final buzzer sounded. and the Ref decided to give them a pk with 1 second remaining. Not much you can do aboout that unfortunately.

A foul in the box is a foul in the box and the ref had a better view of it then anyone in the stands. The foul occurred before regulation time had expired and therefore it constitutes the call of PK even if there is no time left on the clock when the ref completes the PK. How about a little cheese with that "whine" of yours? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

  14. nope, your not wrong. its a puffball schedule

nope, your not wrong. its a puffball schedule

Have we got a stuttering problem here or just nothing to support a statement? /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

  15. Good win /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

I could look, but how did they fair against the above teams...gotta admit not bad matches.

    Cleveland 3 OR 1

    Cleveland 3 Indy 0

    Cleveland 3 Science Hill 0

    Cleveland 1 CBHS 1

    Cleveland 4 Bearden 4

    Cleveland Record 14-0-3

  16. Re: Bearden score: 4-4, final goal on a Cleveland PK just after final buzzer sounded. Heard it from a freind who heard it from a friend type information, so I have no idea on the accuracy.

True Score: Cleveland 4 Bearden 4. Cleveland played the entire second half with 2 starters out secondary to first half injuries(GK and Sweeper). Cleveland was flat first half and Bearden controlled the pitch. Second half was a different story. Very physical contest with numerous yellow cards.

  17. Must have been a great game....and one that Cleveland probably thought they should have won based on the hype. Hats off to McMinn County for a great tie. I just hate it though when fans come on making excuses and whinning when their team loses. Every game someone can say come on and blame the refs.....calls happen on both sides.

Cleveland didn't "lose" and since you are known as "owlfutbol" I suspect you were watching Ooltawah and not in McMinn county to witness it for yourself. There is a difference between "whining" and the facts being stated. Once again, taking nothing from McMinn County, they played a great, hard fought match, but facts are facts regarding the officiating.

  18. A) i would call 115 by 65 a small field.

    2) On one of the disallowed goals, the ref did say "wait till my whistle". And offsides is offsides.

    C) you dont see any McMinn folks commenting on the lack of PK calls.

It was a typical McMinn/Cleveland match. Hard fought, physical, etc. Hats off to both teams.

--It was not offsides because the forward never touched the ball until it had already been touched by one of your defenders. (Check the video)

--There actually was a McMinn comment at 8:48 AM by IAAK regarding the lack of PK calls and by the way, we were taken out in the box a couple of times also which were not called.

--In regard to "wait till my whistle" that was never said and it was obvious that the official in question had never heard of a quick restart.

The bottom line is great match with less than optimal officiating.

  19. Cleveland 1 McMinn Co. 1

WOW....I said it a hundred times...never count out Brother Bobby.

    Come on guys....Where's the details? /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

    Hard fought match.

    Small,wet field.

Two GOOD Cleveland goals disallowed by not so good ref.
