  1. That's a good point about open enrollment. They still should be a tough team next year with Hicks and Mcneal. I know Fuller and his squad are not thinking about that of course; they want championship this year
  2. I didn't get a chance to make the boy's championship game. That being said are most ss fans displeased with the way fuller is coaching and would they like to see someone else try to lead this team. ss is going t be loaded for years to come.
  3. I don't know any of the coaches in this district personally. I'm just an unbias viewer of West TN basketball. I just feel overall coaches on any level get more credit than they deserve and more blame that they deserve. I've seen all of these teams at some point and time not play their best. Is that coaching or something else? I agree SS tends to revert to one on one basketball at times. With Rudesil track record, I can understand why you would say that he could take the SS team and dominate but that's all hypothetical.
  4. I feel that this district will produce the AA State Champion. All four teams on any given night can beat anyone and that's a credit to the kids and coaching. SS does impress you with its talent and should be the odds on favorite to win the state title. Fuller deserves credit for guiding them thus far. SS in playing without tremendous pressure now(they are the hunted) Will the live up to that pressure? We will see. Liberty and Bolivar........enough said........ they are the standard when it comes to this district and state for that matter with multiple state championships. Rudesil is great coach and what Greene has done with Libertyhas been fantastic considering the change of coaches in consecutive years. FW is steadily improving and with the influx of talent they have now and in the upcoming years; they should be contenders for years to come. Don't really know too much about the coach. Most coaches will tell you that they get all or most of the blame with things are going bad and some or no credit when its smooth sailing, for example ..(he should win look at all that talent, I could could coach them) but that the nature of the beast. Its a what have you done for me lately type of position.
  5. Bolivar vs Liberty Friday night! Who did you see winning? I think Bolivar.
  6. I agree mostly with what you say because Bolivar lost a lot leadership from last year's team i.e. (Murphy and Tisdale). They spilt the regular season games; so its not impossible that Bolivar could pull of the upset. As I've stated in earlier posts, if Bolivar uses their big kid #21 Robertson they may win. By the way, who do you scout for?
  7. Not suprised either; I've seen middle school teams with high school age boys.
  8. Liberty was very lucky to come away with that win; with that being said, I think they should beat Bolivar. All Liberty has to do is apply pressure to the ball and Bolivar will turn it over. Liberty should be favored to win the 2A championship. Bolivar played a Fayette-Ware team without one their best players (Bass). Bolivar in that game in my eyes still didnt play well. They struggle with ball handling and will not get the big kid involved in the game #21 (Robertson I think is his name).
  9. Who is the favorite to win the 2A championship. Liberty looks really good. Marshall Co will be in the mix. It may a reach due to their up and down play but I wouldn't count out defending state champs Bolivar.
  10. Anyone know the results of the tournament held at Rideway High School during the Thanksgiving weekend?
  11. Who do think is the better point guard Jay Murphy or Kendall Anthony? Jay will be play for Delta State this upcoming season.
  12. Besides a known player such as Adonis Thomas, who should we have on our radar in either 1A, 2A, or 3A?
  13. I agree but I think I would take Bolivar the 2AA spot. The are defending champions though they lost both of their guards. They still are talented and if the Robertson kid is for real and with players like Polk and Woods kid; I think they should be on top and the end.
  14. Who will be on top of 3A, 2A, 1A boys basketball?
  15. He was in a no win situation. If he won the state tournament, it would have been because of Coach Williams players. Of course he lost, and I'm sure people will say he didn't have the pulse of the team. I'm sure he's good coach but he shouldn't have taken the job if he and his family wasn't prepared to move to Jackson. With a few more years under his belt; I think he would have found his way after following the tradition and great expectations set back Coach Williams.
  16. I forgot about him. If he is truly ready to play and has dealt with his issues; what ever they may be then it would be good for Whitehorn and Bolivar's basketball team. With him back, I think they make another run at the state title.
  17. They have three players coming back with good experiencee; Cooper Kessler, Oneal Woods and Trey Polk. I think they key will be the play of the Robertson kid who didn't play at all this year.
  18. The bottom line; if at all possible, to avoid having the two best teams play in the first round of the state tournament. That's like having one set of flowers and choosing between your mom, wife and or significant other to whom which to give the flowers. Talking about TROUBLE!
  19. Here's another idea; not perfect so don't cut me up too bad. TSSAA can form a selection committee consisting of 5 members/ea for West, Middle, & East Tennessee. They could monitor regular season play, district tournament, regional tournament, and substate. Once substate had ended the meet to determine seeding. Of course some format or criteria would have to be establised to explain the seeding.
  20. Great points from bball1984 and toinemac. I still be believe that some form of seeding would be benefical for the state tournament to prevent two teams from meeting in the first whom the majority considers the odds on favorite to win the state tournament. Wouldn't you agree that for instance last year people would have rather seen Humolt and Manasas in the championship game rather that the first round. These are the matchups that in some way must be prevented if all possible.
  21. I know they are in the same district. What I'm saying is what if district and region tournments were a blind draw also then they could meet in the first round of their district or region.
  22. Teams are seeded in district and region play; why then are they randomly selected in draw for the biggest prize in high school basketball. How ridiculous would it be to have Bolivar vs. Liberty or Melrose vs. White Station in the first round of district. It could happen it records indicate to do so. Tournaments fundamentlly built on having the best teams meet in the championship games. In the NCAA Kansas is not playing Kentucky in the first round; could you imagine the uproar if the NCAA had a random draw and a scenario like that played out. I feel that all fans should petition TSSAA to not only consider but change to seeding teams in the state tournament. Who's with me?
