  1. Obviously, the Marosite twins have already committed to ETSU. Additionally, both Schubert and Kiser have D1, D2 and NAIA offers right now. I believe Perry is getting some interest from at least one NAIA and one D3 at this point.
  2. Okay...Enough of this Hamilton, McMinn and Bradley County schools/coaches stealing players from other schools on this thread. This is way off topic. If you want to discuss that topic further, then start another thread. Otherwise, stick to the subject at hand.
  3. I agree SG vs EHS would be a good regular season game. Morristown West would be another good one. I wish Betsy had played both this year but they didn't. Regardless, I think all three have an excellent chance to represent ET in Mboro. Time will tell.
  4. EHS and SG were in the same conference until SG dropped down in classification and the districts were redrawn. There are only so many non-conference games. This year EHS scheduled Science Hill and Daniel Boone which were supposed to be the best in the Big 7. I don't know why they didn't schedule each other this year, but regardless, I think it's a little presumptuous to assume that Betsy would be avoiding a loss by playing them. Why can't you and some of the other detractors on here focus on posting positive things about the team or teams that you support rather than criticize those you know little or nothing about?
  5. Again, another clueless person judging something they know nothing about. There was no stat boosting as the starters played about half the game and probably failed to attain there season averages. Actually, one starter was not even at the game due to an injury from Friday night. Two reserves were in double figures with a couple more nearly reaching that mark.
  6. Haters gonna hate. I suspect you are judging and commenting without having been at the game. The starters may have played half the game. Multiple reserve players scored in double figures.
  7. Elizabethton (27-0) – Betsy continues to roll and remains #1 in the AP Class 2A state poll. The Lady Cyclones have played extremely well over the last eight games and wound up the regular season without a loss to capture the TRC crown. Happy Valley (20-8) – The Lady Warriors are playing good basketball. They wrapped up the third spot in the TRC. Hampton (16-11) – Have been a little inconsistent. Finished third in the WVC. Got another big win over Grainger at home. Cloudland (13-12) – This team is young but got a good win over Unicoi recently. Unaka (16-11) – Another young team that has won a few straight to end the season. Unicoi County (10-18) – Finished fourth in the TRC in front of Sullivan North and Johnson County. Johnson County (2-21) – The Lady Longhorns were winless in the TRC and finished in sixth place. Will likely make an early exit in the District tournament. District tournaments start next week. SG and EHS are the obvious favorites in the WVC and TRC tournaments, respectively. We'll see how it turns out. Good luck to all. Please provide commentary regarding your thoughts and the teams you support.
  8. Who are your top 5 teams in East TN?
  9. Betsy was clicking on all cylinders tonight in a route of the Lady Blue Devils.
  10. What happened to the Lady Bulldawgs tonight? I expected HV to win, but not by that margin.
  11. I thought the Betsy girls would win this one, but I didn't see this coming! The game was literally over by the end of the first quarter. I figured the first half would be competitive and that Betsy would pull away in the second half. I know it's too much to ask, but it would be great if the Lady Cyclones could play every night like they played last night - awesome team effort. Wow!
  12. I think McMinn Central should be in the top 5. Greeneville drops out after a recent injury to their best player. I would put Blackman at #1 in Middle TN and possibly move Stewarts Creek up a spot as they just knocked off both Blackman and Riverdale.
  13. Elizabethton (22-0) – Betsy continues to roll along, but face a stiff challenge on Tuesday at Sullivan East. The Lady Cyclones need this win to stay on track to win the TRC. Happy Valley (17-7) – Are playing good basketball. The Lady Warriors are holding down the third spot in the TRC right now. Hampton (13-8) – Have a couple of recent wins over Carter County rivals. Have a critical game with North Greene on Tuesday to take over second place in the WVC. Cloudland (11-11) – Had a rough week. Has a big week with games against Unaka and South Greene this week. Unaka (14-10) – Had a rough week. Has a big game with Cloudland on Tuesday. Unicoi County (9-15) – The Lady Devils are coming off a couple of wins. But after Sullivan North on Tuesday, the road gets tough through the end of the season. Johnson County (2-17) – The Lady Longhorns continue to struggle having lost 16 in a row. Likely won’t win another game this year. Conference games become increasingly more important as the regular season winds down. The WVC tournament is shaping up to be a street fight. SG would be the obvious favorite, but an upset is possible. A good team will be left out of the Regional. The Lady Cyclones will be the favorite in the TRC tournament with Sullivan East and Happy Valley potentially being spoilers. Please provide comments on these rankings, the teams, and/or the upcoming District and Regional tournaments.
  14. Passionate or not I would characterize what I saw as over sensitivity.
  15. If it's Meigs Co. to whom you refer, I do like the team. First, they have the right school colors - LOL. Secondly, I saw them play either last year or the year before at the state tournament. They are a scrappy bunch. They do have some "sensitive" fans though as I once encountered a crew of their softball parents at a tournament.
  16. I guess you failed to read my post closely too. My post was in response to a post about strength of schedule. I included the summer and play days in an attempt to present a body of work - Betsy played some darn good teams. If my goal was to brag about the summer record or play days then I would have come on this board at that time and done so. I am very familiar with the dynamics of girls high school basketball. Everyone knows that come tournament time, none of it (including the regular season) will matter. That doesn't mean that every team that wins will necessarily be the best team but they will have to be the best team on a given day (much like March Madness). Regardless, the teams that win will deserve to win. Good luck to all except those playing Betsy (and whichever team MartianMan supports - LOL).
  17. Elizabethton (20-0) – Betsy continues to roll along although they have been somewhat stagnant in the first half of recent games. Happy Valley (16-6) – The Lady Warriors are playing pretty good basketball right now. Unaka (14-8) – The Lady Rangers got an impressive win over Hampton tonight. Hampton (11-8) – Lost to Unaka at home tonight after pulling off a major upset of South Greene last week. Cloudland (11-9) – Have put together a few solid weeks. Unicoi County (7-14) – The Lady Devils are struggling right now. Johnson County (2-15) – The Lady Longhorns continue to struggle. It’s particularly hard to assess spots 2-5 as these teams continue to beat up on each other. I'm interested in other's thoughts on these teams how those familiar would rank this group.
  18. I did NOT compare these two teams based on a play day. If you read the thread you will see my post was about strength of schedule. MartianMan went off on the reference to the play day and started that discussion. I was merely indicating that EHS played a tough summer camp schedule, some good teams during the play days, and some tougher teams during a holiday tournament. That is it...
  19. It is true the boys play MW this year but I doubt the reason the girls didn't play is because Dugger wouldn't. I know the EHS girls hosted a 2-night doubler header when the boys played MW the first time. Also, MW played in the Nike tournament in Arizona at that time. Dugger and the MW coach seem to be pretty tight and often schedule summer games and play days so I don't know why he wouldn't want to play.
  20. I hope Westview, Upperman, McMinn Central and Elizabethton all make it to the glass house this year.
  21. I agree totally with your assessment. In addition to the travel, there are often complications with scheduling both boys and girls for out of conference games. Our AD frowns on that. Our coach also tries to participate in a quality holiday tournament. However, that doesn't help in the last half of the schedule which is dominated by district play.
  22. MC has to make too. Yeah, I remember last year. EHS lost the championship to MLK (the semi in our bracket was the championship IMHO). #nopointsfor2ndplace
