  1. Is your son a senior? Most of the state's community colleges have open tryouts for unsigned seniors during the summer. Try out at as many as you can; if your son is good enough, one of these colleges will give him a chance. Junior College is very good baseball especially in Tennessee (alot better than people think). If he can make one of these teams and is good enough, the coaches in this league are very good about sending players on to universities.
  2. I am not even going to try to predict these games; both could go either way. The Summertown, Mt. Pleasant game should be a dog fight. They always seemed to have some close games when they played in the district tournament a few years ago, so it will be interesting to watch them play when the stakes are higher.Perry Co. is probably a better team than Wayne Co. but Wayne Co. is well coached and seems to be playing some good basketball right now. This is probably the most competitive the region has been in a long time.
  3. Mr. Franks, I understand what you are saying, but I think you are blowing this out of porportion. I definantly don't agree with everything Vandy says, but he has been on here supporting Summertown all season and he is entitled to his opinion. The only thing I would say to Vandy (and glazed) is be carefull how agressively you go after 11A fans. 12A may be on top now, but it was only a few seasons ago that Cully and Moore Co. were dominating the region. As far as "insider information" I think everybody understands that this is just a casual message board that is ment for fun. Coach T is: 70% players and Parents talking trash 20% people with nothing better to do, and 10% people who actually know what they are talking about. So, I don't think anybody on here takes any "insider information" seriously anyway. This is all just for fun.
  4. You guys have been arguing for a while now and I think it needs to be said that Summertown, Perry Co. and Wayne Co. are all good (but not great) teams and can beat each other on any given night. I'm giving Perry Co. the advantage in the D12 tournament because it's on their home court, but I think any three of these teams could win the region.
  5. I've seen the BBCOR bats in action many times and there is a noticable difference. It's not quite like hitting with wood, but the ball definantly does not come off the bat like it did with the BESR bats. If you hit the ball on the sweet-spot it still comes off pretty good, but if you don't square it up, it's not going anywhere. Alot of hitters that are used to hitting homeruns are going to be flying out on the warning track (i've seen that alot already in the college game).
  6. Yeah, when you have weather like this it's tough to get alot done. I think it effects the hitters the most because you can hit in the cage all you want, but it's hard to simulate facing live pitching.
  7. I can't wait to see how the D12 tournament plays out. Perry Co. Wayne Co. and Summertown are all very good teams and have a shot to win the region. I think Perry Co. will win the District tournament with the homecourt advantage, but Wayne Co. and Summertown are both capable of beating them in the Region. Also, it will be very important to win the region this year because I don't think anybody wants to travel to Clarksville Academy for the Sub-State.
  8. So explain to me how one blowout loss will effect a team for a couple of years. Everybody has bad games, but great teams recover and move on. The regular season dosen't mean anything, it only matters how teams perform in the post-season. For example, if I remember correctly, Wayne Co. didn't win the district last season and made it all the way to the state tournament.
  9. I think that Summertown will take home the title again this season, but Wayne Co. and Perry Co. will also be in the mix. Wayne Co. is returning some great players, but they haven't performed well as a team in the post-season over the past few years. It will be interesting to see if they can break that trend. Perry Co. had a young, talented team last year and will be looking to build on an incredible season falling just short of the State Tournament. Summertown will be on top again this year, but they will be losing a lot talent after this season; this may be the last year of their reign in 12A for the next few years (4 district titles, 5 region titles, 3 state tournament apperances, and 1 state championship in the last 5 years). It is shaping up to be an exciting season in District 12A, best of luck to all teams!
  10. Are you serious? How does having one bad game constitute "going down the crapper"? Yes, Perry Co. had a bad game against Summertown and Summertown had a terrible game against Wayne Co., but that dosen't mean that they're no longer the best two teams in 6A. How does losing to Wanye Co. make CA a better team tham Summertown when CA has already lost to Summertown twice? Wayne Co. had a heck of a game, but i'm still predicting Perry Co. and Summertown to move on to Sub-State.
  11. Why would you save your ace for game 2? Yeah he may get you a big win in game two, but he would only have 1 days rest going into the championship game. So either you have to trust your #2 in the championship game or you pitch your #1 at nowhere near full strength. I think the best thing to do is pitch your ace in game 1 (hopefully you can get a big lead and pull him early) and the championship game.
  12. Everyone talks about how good their ace pitcher is, but what the state tournament comes down to is who has the most depth. Even if your ace throws a gem on game 1, it's up to your #2 and #3 guys to get you to the championship game. So the team with the best overall pitching staff will usually win the tournament (Unless you're Jackson Christian in '08 and you can just outscore everybody, lol).
  13. The pitcher from Nashville Christian pitched a great ballgame. He had the Summertown hitters off-balance all night long. It was a great game; it could have went either way. It was 3 to 2 in the top of the 7th with bases loaded and 2 outs and 2 strikes when a ncs hitter cleared the bases with a double; that was the nail in the coffin. Best of luck to Nashville Christian and better luck to Summertown next season.
  14. Apparently, someone was behind a Scout that had a gun and word spread. I dont know. It's possible that the gun picked up the bat speed on that paticular pitch.
  15. Yeah that would be a great game! Best of luck to both teams in the region.
  16. May 12, 2010 Summertown 11 Perry County 1 Huddleston not on the mound... Am I missing something? Dude get a grip I said I was wrong . I thought WC had yall beat with him on the mound . 11 to 1 yall blew it open at the end but you guys were crying a lot when it was a 1 run game and PC had just won one of the biggest games in their history. I dont like a sore loser and hate a sore winner. So are you gonna pitch Huddleson game 1 and 2 in the region. Your coach thought he had to get out of district. Are you serious? Why wouldn't you pitch your ace in the first two games of the district if he has had enough rest. Especially when all you need to do to advance to region is win the first two games. But The region's alot different than the district. It dosent matter who you pitch the second game as long as you win the semi-finals and the sub-state.
  17. Summertown and Cornersville are probably the two best teams. I think Mt. Pleasant and Loretto will also make it to the region. Wayne Co. is more talented than Lorretto and played well early in the season, but they usually fall off in the post season. I hope that's not the case this year, but I think Lorreto will be the better post-season team.
  18. Summertown defeated CA on a seventh inning comeback last season. Who will win the title this year?

Thanks for your interest in Post 19 baseball! The Jr and Sr team both look to be stronger this year! It should be a great summer of baseball. The Jr team has picked up several good bats and pitchers. The pitching staff should be a lot better from top to bottom. Laster, Ring, Huddleston, Ray, Pratt and a few others will anchor the staff and will be weekend tournament pitchers to start off. A couple of big bats return in Staggs, Ammons, and Pippenger. A couple big bats have been and will be added. Several players on the Jr team should have an opportunity to play at the next level. We are hoping to get them some looks. The Sr team is absolutely loaded with talent. Many of the players have signed or will sign soon at the next level. The Sr team will bring one of the best pitching staffs (Spann, Horne, Workman, Pitts, Walton, etc) and 1 thru 9 hitting line up (Brochu, Bigler, Bosheers, Roberts, Keeton, Armstrong, Ray, Horne, etc) to the ball park than anyone around. The OF will be super fast with great arms. INF has players with great hands and strong arms. The talent is there for both teams to be successful! It all comes down to the players and how bad they want to win and how good they want to be! Sounds like it's going to be a good summer for post 19 baseball! I noticed you listed Workman as one of the pitchers. Any word on how his arm is holding up?

I don't think Cornersville or Culleoka will make it past the region semis. I wouldn't be suprised if the #1 and #2 seeds from district 12A represent the region in the sub-state this year. Summertown, Wayne Co., and Loretto are all looking pretty good.

    district 12a

Mercer for sure Mercer, Pippenger, and Warren are all good players, but K.J. Roberts had the 2nd highest batting avererage in the state last year (.558) (http://www.tbca.org/2009offensivestatleaders.htm) He was also 2nd in the state in tripples and tied for 6th in the state in doubles. There is no way that he is not the best hitter in this district.

    district 12a

Mercer is a good player. Who all does Perry Co. have comming back besides him? Also, does anybody know what Loretto has? I don't know alot about their players, but I do know that Coach Lamm knows how to win, and they have have been fairly successful in AA over the past few years.
  23. Mt. Pleasant (they were in 12A last year, but are moving to 11A this year) has some decent players. Daniel Holcomb, Garret Ring, and Devin Nance to name a few. Hughes an Jed Davis are pretty good players as well, but they quit before last season; i'm not sure if they'll be back this year. Mt. Pleasant could turn some heads in 11A this year with Richland and CA losing alot of talent (Workman, Ayers, Parsons, Malone, etc.). I wouldn't be suprised to see a Mt. Pleasant Summertown rematch in the region finals this season.
  24. No disrespect to Wayne Co. They have some talented players, but I don't think they are on the same level as Summertown. The biggest difference between the two teams is Summertown is going to hit the ball well 1-9 where as Wayne Co. has a good top of the order, but the bottom half is weak. Also, Summertown's pitching is deeper with Huddleston, Roberts, Kroger, and Chard, where as Wayne Co. dosen't have much after Keeting. Last season when these teams met, Keating gave S'town some trouble in the first game, but the second game's pitchers got killed. This could be a problem for them again this season. Overall I don't think S'town will have to much trouble with Wayne Co. (then again who would've thought they would lose to Mt. Pleasant in the District Championship).

    district 12a

Mt. pleasant's no longer in district 12A so holcomb can't be one of the pitchers. For hitters, K.J. Roberts, Lucas Pippenger and Alex Huddleston are the top three, all had good summers. For pitchers, Tomas Huddleston from Summertown is probably the best.
