  1. According to the Wilson Post, Harris left due to family reasons. Edit: Lebanon Democrat has more detail: http://www.lebanondemocrat.com/story/lhs-baseball-softball-coaches-step-down
  2. Won 1 game, lost 1 game. Playing East Hamilton for their season later today.
  3. [sarcasm]That Bean guy sounds like someone I'd want to work for![/sarcasm] Jeez, it's not like they were terrible. It's like if Soddy fired Clifford for not winning state two years ago, or Riverdale firing Breeden for not getting to state last year.
  4. CJ McClain is not some average, run-of-the-mill softball player; she's an immensely talented player who committed to a big program before she was even in high school. News of a big-name player like her being removed from the team would've gotten out eventually, Tennessean article or not.
  5. AAA is very difficult to predict this season. Soddy and Beech are both way down, and Coffee has good pitching, but they aren't hitting the ball well against teams they need to be hitting it well against. I think Riverdale and Smyrna will get in, as well as Ravenwood, Seymour, and Walker Valley. Who knows about the other three spots?

    Best Pitchers

Don't know if anyone has thrown Smyrna's Makenzie Prince into this topic, but she deserves to be mentioned after a 1-hit shutout against Riverdale tonight with 9 Ks. She's even better than she was last year...and she was 7-AAA MVP last year.
  7. I also think Coffee is the team to beat in AAA this season.
  8. If it's an early season game or a big game (rivalry, playoff, playoff implications, district championship game), then the people will show up, whether it's being shown on TV or the 'Net or not. If a game is on TV or the 'Net late in the season, and the team is either not in playoff contention, or in playoff contention, but not likely to go very far, then the folks might stay home and watch it on a screen for free.
  9. Wow, that's a pretty crummy thing to do in both instances.
  10. Packer's commentary and lopsided games aside, Rivalry Thursday is a much better show than TNL. They focus on the GAME, not doing interviews with people who have nothing to do with the game while it's going on. Plus, they give students a shot at winning cash in one of those cash machines at halftime; that's 100 times better than getting free pizza or tacos for a month. And please don't take my comment about ridiculous interviews as a disrespect towards the Marines (since one of them is always interviewed week-after-week). I appreciate the military and what they do, but these HS games are supposed to be about the kids on the field playing, not the kids who might be at home watching. Also, the 2Cool2Lose ads, while doing a positive thing for the community by showing the dangers of underage drinking, are annoying, and the kid in that Cornerstone ad is way over-the-top with his dialogue.

  12. That's Rivalry Thursday on MyVLT. This is Thursday Night Lights for the Nashville area.
  13. Well, due to the ongoing controversy in Sumner County, MyTV30 has dropped Hendersonville-Station Camp for Overton-Father Ryan, which will remain a Friday game. I don't think the ratings will be good for that one.
  14. I'm surprised Ensworth isn't on the schedule, considering they've won two straight State titles, and Corn will be a Senior, meaning it would be one last chance to showcase him on the series.
  15. Here's the full schedule: http://www.mytv30web.com/newsroom/sports/
  16. Christy Bingham takes the job. Previously coached at St. Benedict. Good coach, too.

SPRING FLING: USJ involved in postgame confrontation
  18. Rachel was eligible, because she was pitching JV. Whether she was eligible to relieve in State, I'm not sure, since an active roster for State can only have 18 players selected by the head coach.
  19. Sam Hoadwonic, a Sophomore at the time, was the Riverdale pitcher in '09. They had to beat Beech twice in the championship round (4-2 in Game 1, 9-1 in Game 2), as Beech had put them in the Losers' Bracket with a 6-0 win earlier in the tournament. Siegel also made that tournament, and Riverdale knocked them out. Oddly enough, it was Siegel who beat Riverdale in the 4-AAA final, sending the Lady Warriors to Soddy. During the offseason, Albritton worked hard enough to gain the starter's spot from Hoadwonic, who left the team after the 2010 season. Predictions? I can't see it being anyone other than Beech and Soddy. Having seen most of these teams, I'd say Coffee and Mt. Juliet are probably their biggest threats.
  20. Riverdale beat Soddy at Soddy in '09 to reach state, which they subsequently won.
  21. Oakland-Blackman (Week 4) will also be a TNL game this season.
  22. I've been getting conflicting reports on what time the varsity game between Riverdale and Beech starts on Monday. I've heard 6, and we've listed 6 on our website, but I've also been told it starts at 4. Can anyone from Beech tell me? Thanks.
