  1. Want to add one thing. The Creekwood pitcher IS GOOD. The Trinity pitchers are older with some more experience and that was my point. Didn't want to leave the thought that the Creekwood girl was not special cuz she has to be to hold the GP girls at bay.
  2. You gotta be kiddin. "Clear and away" the best team. I have now heard it all. Creekwood, yes Creekwood had em. Trinity beat em. My WC could play with em and the Beech team that beat us could have their way with em. I know nothin about a scrimmage where Beech beat GP this season so I will not comment on that even though I have a sneaking hint who probably won due to your "well that realllllyyy don't count" even though they both played it heads up. And, heard GP couldn't score on the Beech ace. But, I watched many games at the play day and Beech had their way with Soddy Daisy with both teams pitching their aces. WC didn't lose either in that Play Day tourney. Beech game was not even close in any way. Now, that was not the case when Soddy and GP played wuz it. To my understanding, WC has lost one game. No one has proven in any way that WC is not one of the best teams around. WC has a really good pitcher. And, if you look real close at GP and their record, they struggle when the opposition has good pitchers. Why? They do not rountinely see it day in and day out. I may be wrong but I think I read that they hung on to beat Creekwood and Creekwood was pitching one of dem dar Freshmen. Then, when the money was on the table, facing good pitching, they lost. Many will lose against pitchers like dem Trinity girls. But, Mid-state has a pitcher or two or three that are as good or better.
  3. Oh Stlbrd, dat may be a COOOOORRRRREEEECCCCCTTTT thought. I went to see WC play and they had won all of dem dar games. Well, they lost. I do think WC will be there. Now, I think Beech will be thar as well. I am a newbie. How could both of em get there? Let's see...two from their district go to the region. Then, if they both win...they go to the sectional...and they both win again. Is that right? Noooowwww, who would be regional folk they may play, AND, who may they face in the sectional? I would have thought Noitall would be all over this observation. Touchee !! /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />
  4. Wow. She is a fine player. Is it tooooo early for her to be selecting a future school cuz she looks good. Some said she wuz hurt or sick at the WC game. Is it a season threatening injury cuz that would be a tough un to lose for dat Beech team? /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  5. Yep, I is a pop and have been for 38 years. You know what they say..."once a dad always a dad". And, I is a "newbie" and dang proud of it. As for the "T", I wood love to know what dat means. And I wuz a "two time loser this weekend" as well. I lost my truck keys at the flea market (#1), and I lost again at bingo at church (#2). How do you know thez things, Tball ? You is smart. /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" />
  6. U R absolutely right that private schools have the advantage in most areas of sports competition as it relates to public schools. Now, they (private schools) will argue that they are competing against schools with twice (maybe 3x's) as many students to choose from. Sooooooo, it goes both ways. Many a folk have said to separate them for competition sake. BAD IDEA. Why? Unless the metro/rural schools upgrade their education and facilities...all the smart people and good playa's will go to private schools. And...all the educational and athletic scholarships will go to the private school folk. That is why them dar "vouchers" are opposed by public school folk. Given a choice, mannnnnyyyyyy folk would opt for private education if government helped pay for it. Keep in mind, all private school parents ain't rich. Fact is...most are not. It is a choice. Like buying a house, you can buy big like TBALL or small like Noitall (even though he DOES have the biggest Double-Wide) or in-between like "Birdman" (even though he has 3, yes 3 houses in the "in-between" status). Sooooo, all us folk make a choice where we spend our bucks. Many a poor person has their kids in dem dar private schools. BUT, if they are cheatin, like some private AND public schools have allllll done...they need to be taken out to the wood shed and let my neighbor Henry have a go with em. Hate da cheaters...not the playa's. /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />
  7. No. I do believe some WC folks on the "Catchers" thread that said the pitcher is going to U.T. Martin and the catcher is going to Lee. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  8. On another thread "Catchers" we wuz talkin about the catchers from Wilson Central and Beech. It was said that the WC catcher was going to Lee University (I think), and I asked where the catcher from Beech wuz going and no one has replied. While treking around these threads I saw where you said the Bucs played in KY. Where is the catcher for Beech going in college and someone said she had been sick prior to the WC game.
  9. Seen Lexington play and they have a chance to be good this year and the years ahead. They have one of the better pitchers any of us on the hill have seen 'round these parts. Like all good teams, the pitcher keeps em in da game and the "team" wins it.
  10. Everybody on da hill knows Mrnoitall is right waaayyyy more than he is wrong. He was wrong when he gave Birdie a weddin ring while splurging at the Meat-and-3 many moons ago (He shoulda done it at the drive-in movie...more romantic).
  11. My pop used to say that in certain situations it would be better to keep my mouth shut and let folks just assume I wuz dumb than to open my mouth and remove all doubt. Wish I'd listened to him more on that dar one. /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> I am a more newbie than Tball so i know I ain't got nothin on yuz folks. He outta maybe do the same. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

    Catchers

Thanks for the catchers name. And did not know that the WC pitcher was going to UT Martin. She reaallllly has that ball a spinnin don't she? And, the Beech pitcher rares back and yells "HER SHE COMES". Kinda scarry if I say so myself and was glad the fence was between me and dem pitches. Nuf said. This is a catcher thread but wanted to put my only two cents in. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

    Catchers

Thanks for the name of the WC catcher. Do you know about the Beech catcher where she is going?
  14. Are you saying "the rich keep gettin richer", or, are you injecting the public school v. private school debate. Heck, bottom line is pitching. Trinity has two pitchers that can keep most at bay. GP has a couple of good ones as well but not good as Trinity. They were almost good enough yesterday, however. It don't matter whether you are up with me on the hill or if you are in the valley...the teams with the best pitchers have the best chance. Pick a division and it generally holds true. Last year in AAA Ooltewah had the best pitcher after Hosfield went down...and they won the state. They played Beech and Beech had the best 2 pitcher combination in the state last year. Goodpasture (GP) in AA has won 5-6 or 7 state championships in a row and each year they had dominant pitching. Single A was the same last year. BUT, guess what? Trinity did not win. What this means is pitching is the ingredient that keeps teams in a position to win. It cannot win it cause pitchers cannot score runs. So, the public v. private debate is not the issue. If they give scholarships they must play in a separate division. If they are in the A, AA, AAA division and they are recruiting...they are cheating. Just because any team has dominant pitching does not mean they are bad. More importantly, they are lucky.

    Catchers

I rode my bike from the hill and watched the Wilson Central girls take on a Beech team with a great reputation. I agree that the catcher for Beech is excellent and is a college prospect. Is she a senior and is she looking at going anywhere? And, I heard she played sick or something. AS WELL, the catcher for Wilson Central is a good addition to this discussion. Not only is the Wilson girl a good catcher, she may have been the only girl to get a base hit all day on her first at bat. And, is she a senior and is she being looked at by anyone?
  16. SS+2_HHS does make an excellent point. If Travel is the standard...then GOLD is the Super-Standard that puts players in a position to compete at the highest "travel" level possible. I feel confident that there were players in TN playing GOLD last season and since GOLD primarily means "pitching from 43 feet, how many players were competing at the GOLD level? It is my belief that you are not automatically good if you play GOLD, but, it does put you in an environment to "test your metal" so to speak. A good point could be made to play GOLD in the summers of your JR. and SR. seasons but that is not automatically so. There could be an arguement to play 16's thru the summer of soph season and then move up. I wonder like SS_2_HHS if there were any TN girls competing at the GOLD level last season? For that matter, who will be competing at that level this summer? In an earlier post I mentioned a few West TN girls that could make an impact at their next level and I am positive there are more but I do not tarry with the "in the knows". As for East and Middle TN I am sure there are more. There is Kelsey Cartwright who may have played Gold this summer who reportedly signed with Auburn. There are also a number of girls who have signed with U.T. from GPS and I am sure they are equally capable. If Stlbrd would quit going to the Meat-and-three's with NoitAll...we could get some of this info rolling. Come on STLBRD and NoitAll, inquiring minds want to know.
  17. You two are reading wayyyy too much into this. I may be referring to high school players that are playing high school ball now, but hey, they also play travel ball. Right now by my own count of various posts, there are many, many names that are being touted as "the player" in their area. That is all fine and good but that can also be confusing because you and "bird" and the other "knowitall" all make a good point. Just because you are doing it in high school does not mean you may be able to do it at their next level. Again, D-1 is not the only level. To defend against this being a silly post as the OTHER "knowitall" stated, I do not believe this silly at all. So, to cut through the high school good...who is high school AND travel ball good enough to make it at their next level? Is that too hard of a question? I dare say no. O.K., I will start with West TN. From what it sounds it seems that Ivy and Ellen Renfroe are two players that have a good chance to make it at their next level. Some say the younger Renfroe may have the best chance simply due to her athletic ability. There is also a pitcher (her name excapes me) that played for the Germantown Red Devils this past summer I do believe. It has been heard by me that she is a really good pitcher and athlete and she also has a good chance if she continues to develop. So, there are three players to start with. Are there any more in West TN that have a good chance to make an impact at their next level? I feel confident that their are and I would like to hear your opinions.
  18. O.K., I have heard you two "love birds" haggle back and forth about every topic including "where the double wide needs to be located". I know the answers to this question I am going to ask you, and, will gladly provide them later. However, to humor me and the rest of us know-nothin's we would like to hear a true discussion of who are the best players in the State. Now, we must limit the list to who has the best chance to advance to college and make an impact on the level they will play. D-1 is NOT the only level. Meaning, if they are juniors or seniors and not being heavily recruited by someone...it may be hard to put em on this list. Therefore, here is the question to you two...and others: Who in the State has the ability to make the biggest impact in high school and then in college? Support you answers with something other than "my daughter struck out 16 batters in 4 innings last night" ! We are looking for current success, them being recruited and their up-side at their next level. Of course, if they are fresh or soph...they may not be recruited at this time so give us reason to remember them in the future. Tell us "who they are", "why they should be on the list", and, "why we should remember their names". This should be good.
