  1. lol! Yeah...let us recruit good players from the other schools and then practice exclusion to keep the undesirables out by creating barriers to entry with the $ of the privileged..but, but, but let us play against the other public schools who dont have our advantages....Thats real fair. Oh, I almost forgot, let me ring my loud*$$ cowbell in the other fans ears and distract the other teams players. Thats a good crew there at FC. By the way, I am from Public School USA!
  2. FC fans are a bunch of rich punks. They use their private school status to exclude yet they want to be included in public school activities. They are very disrespectful of others. That cowbell needs to be shoved up you know where. Very annoying and distracting to players and fans. In the end all the pomp and privilege couldnt help em hit Gant though.
  3. I am for public school USA anytime we can put it on the privates. You guys want to create exclusivity by putting $$$ up as barrier to entry. If you all have so much honor then put your money and efforts into improving the public schools. I could think of nothing better for the privileged among us to do. You want to practice exclusion when it comes to education and "environment" but then want to be included with the public schools (who dont have your advantages) when it comes to competing in athletics. Go play with the rest of the private schools. Then again all your exclusion, pomp, and noise makers couldnt help you hit a 92 mph fastball or field a ground ball could it?
  4. Go Riverside! Public School beat down on the Private Rich Boys. TSSAA needs to something about the artificial noise makers. They are not allowed in Basketball or Football.

I gave Gant credit, read the post! If you call enforcing the proper strike zone squeezing then I agree with you. When the ump started enforcing a proper strike zone Summertown started hitting, as they have done all year off of other great pitchers. I sat in the second section right behind the plate, some of those strike calls were definately at least 8 inches off the corner. Anyway, dont try to justify the ill advised comments of frustrated teenager by taking away from the acomplishments of another on a board that is as widely read as this. That is what you did in your original post by calling in a cheap hit and lucky break for the hitter. If I remember correctly, the hitter fowled off a couple pitches and battled with two strikes, then took a pitch through the hole between 1st and 2nd, it was a ground ball not a blooper over the infield. Most would call that a great piece of hitting, not you, you called it a lucky hit. Someone should take this opportuntiy to teach the kid some discretion when making comments. If he plays long enough, and it appears he is destined to play post high school baseball, I dare say he will encounter another situation where he gives up a game winning hit. In baseball, as in life, things dont always go your way. How those situations are handled determines how successful one will be. Confidence is a good thing, so is Humility.

Maybe I was a bit unclear. My sore loser comment wasnt directed at Gant, but at you. My intent was to counter your "out of the mouths of babes usually comes the truth" comment. Just leave Gant's comment alone and it will go away, everyone knows he is a kid. All the kids were and are competitive or they would not have been there. Maybe it is news to you or maybe you dont care but I bet even the kid that got the so called "lucky" hit is competitive. No need for you to demean him by saying the winning hit was cheap and a lucky break for him. The ump was a major reason that Gant "handled Summertown all game". Summertown didnt do damage early as no one can hit a kid that good when they are forced to cover pitches that far off the corner. Gant was very good. I give him all the credit by taking what the ump gave him and hitting spots consistently. The catcher may very well have been the enabler and the difference in the game, he was a very good receiver. When the zone started tightening up (possibly because the new catcher was setting up differently) Summertown started putting the bat on the ball and loaded the bases twice. You called it a cheap hit and lucky break for the hitter, that is crap. There is no need for you to make those comments.

He handled Summertown with a little help from the ump, until last two innings when the ump started calling it a little tighter. Several Summertown kids were punched out on balls 6-8 inches off the plate. When the strike zone shrunk a bit to where the pitches were over the plate, Summertown started hitting. The kid was good but was he better than than Harvile (the Summertown pitcher)? Look at the hits given up in the box score. Summertown can hit, dont take that away from them. The performance of the Summertown pitcher was equally or maybe even more increadible as he got the win. Making statements as such does nothing but make those making them appear to be bad sports and sore losers.
  8. You called it, JK81. Are you a player? if so, congrats and way to keep your confidence. I saw the game and thought it was the best of day. Great efforts from Harville and Gant. Obvisouly very tough competitors. Summertown kept battling and wouldnt give up. Outstanding effort by both teams. These two teams deserve more pub than they get, outstanding players on both sides.
  9. Summertowns D did look good and they may have the edge but those scores this weekend are not in any way indicative of what will happen in must win games against CA or Richland.
  10. Summertown better keep bearing down and not let up or they will get put out early. Obviously CA did not pitch their top pitchers (workman or ayers), CA started a freshman on the hill and they were missing a couple other starters. Richland also started a younger kid. Richland was alot tougher when they brought patterson in. Richland and CA will be tough to beat when playing to win. They play each other in a big district game for 1st place this coming week and saved their best for that game, not Summertown. This was the 1st time I have seen Summertown, their pitching is not that good, they will have to out score the other team and need to hit from 1 through 9. I venture to say they dont always do that, i dont know of any single A team that stacks good enough hitters from 1-9 to beat a pitcher like blaze parsons or workman consistently.
  11. Did MTPS beat one of Cascades top 2 pitchers? Anyone know?
  12. Oh. Its just that I saw MTCS play earlier this year and they had some trouble defensly and did not hit. I thought they may have lost alot from last year. Didn't they go to the state last year? I have not seen Cascade, just see their ranking and hear all the talk about how good they are. I have seen MTPS and they are not good enough to beat an honest #1 ranked team in my opinion. Any given day as they say. Congrats to MTPS.
  13. Concerning CA, MTCS is a puzzling loss, didn't think they were very good. Also saw where MTPS beat Cascade with a freshman pitcher, whats up with that?
  14. I agree. CA is a very good team. Will be a contender for a spring fling visit. They have very good pitching, when on can shut down a good hitting team. Their sticks need to come around though. They will be fine.
