I assistant Steve Hamilton- Former UTC coach. solid pick John Soriedas- UTC graduate could make sense, lacking experience could be gamble. Jason Valek-Division II success at newberry Frankie James- NAIA Head Coach, Former UTC Coach- Solid pick Heath Eslinger- UTC graduate- GREAT pick. can't go wrong with this guy. give him some time. Any other Head Coaches from the south interested or qualified?

Brands got his first head coachng job at UTC, Bono is from Florida. Why would they leave UTC so quickly? Something doesn't seem right. Maybe expectation were to high and once reality set in, they jumped ship! Whoever is doing the hiring should take note. Just because they graduate with a business degree, you don't hire them as president of the company right out of college. Essentially, UTC has been doing just that. Sure Bono and Brands were the star students, but they had no head coaching experience and should not have been hired as president of the company right out of school. UTC stop gambling, don't roll the dice on this hire. UTC needs someone with succesful Head Coaching experience that actually wants to live in the South. It does not take a world champion to build a succesful wrestling program........Brian Smith, Tom Borrelli. Find somone like that.

Those other programs are much different that Carson newman. Norwich, Del State, Wagner, Portland State and all the other programs dropping probably need to drop. They don't even have full teams year after year. You can't group Carson newman in with those guys. Carson Newman Wrestling attracts students year after year and has a strong wrestlnig tradition. The Carson Newman wrestling program easily pays for itself and once the board of trustees get the facts this program will be re-instated!

I have been on that campus not long ago and I don't think they can afford to lose 40 students. School looks like they could use some money to fix the place up a little. Keep wrestling and lose the Athletic Director!

Very good question. Who can really keep UTC at the top of the Southern Conference and continue to recruit/develop All-Americans/National champs? You said bring someone back? who could that be? Recent coaches that could come back......manning, leen, brands,seay. Not much to choose from there. Manning, Leen and Seay are past there time. Brands on the other hand........Well, personally I thought UTC hired brands because of his big name. That was suppose to draw big recruits and that did not happen. Terry obviously could not recruit the big name guys and did not attract the recruits they thought he would. How many Cali, NJ, OH, PA or Sr. National Champs/Fargo champs did he get to UTC? He did well with what he had, but a lot of coaches can do that and still get the best kids in the south. Bono is doing that. I really don't see an excuse for these big name coaches. Chattanooga is a great city and school to recruit to and you all should be supplementing your southern talent with 2 or 3 national level recruits from the power states every year. Move someone up? Would Gallick want to take over and how would he do? I think that could be a good choice if he did not go with Bono. Bring someone new in? wow, that really opens it up. Who would you go after? A proven head coach or a young assistant? How about Jack Spates if he is out at Oklahoma? Sammie Henson? Jared Swint in state? Jeremy Spates or Robbie Waller? Lee Pritts at Missouri who is from Florida? How about Jeff Regan at Citadel? Lots of possibilites. I would look for a proven recruiter that knows how to win.
