  1. Millington looked good in the scrimmage against Whaven earlier in the year. The score was tied at 3 apiece but that was after Millington was up at the end and Whaven started throwing deep to tie it up. Millington was without 3 or four key starters (rb's) as Im sure Whaven was also. 5-6 wont cut it with this years group. They are hungry and feel like they have something to prove.
  2. Who will it be? How strong will this division be? Who are the contenders and why? Bolton stays back pretty quite..what do they have coming back? Cordova is returning how many starters? Arlington lost 20+ seniors, what will they do? Millington..always in contention. How will they adjust to new coaching staff? Bartlett? Anyone with any know on any of these teams speak up! Show your pride in your team! Brag a little!
  3. I understand what you are saying. I have seen some teams in Memphis that are loaded with talent but the coaching ability was not there. These coaches would try to beat you with the long pass and speed rather than show patience and a game plan.
  4. People will see a lot smarter coaching out of the Trojans this year. Some of the coaching staff has been "updated" would be the best way to put it. The Trojans are definitely a dark horse. We are not really sure what to expect. New staff, new stuff added to the playbook. A lot of it will depend on how quickly the kids adjust. The talent is there.
  5. Some ex Trojans now supposedly have craigmont addresses and are playing for them.
  6. Memphis area teams were counted out last year and one of them dominated the state playoff game.....eyes on Craigmont also (they have some extra help). Arlington will be out. They lost too many starters last year, but they do have a cush schedule again this year until they get to conference play. White Station and Whitehaven are always contenders.
  7. This thread could go on for days. A lot of public schools do some type of recruiting and almost all the private schools do it. The bottom line is the TSSAA could care less for several reasons, one being it would take too much of their precious time to investigate as they are severly overworked as it is.
  8. The season is coming upon us fast. I am sure you will see a different Trojan team than we saw last year. No, we are not going to be an air the ball out team as we never are, but the coach knows our strong points and thats what we will see. But that doesnt mean the same ol same ol either. I think some better decisions will be made on the field though. Getting excited!
  9. A good school to look at would be Marion Arkansas Patriots. They are a good team and are only about 40-45 minutes from Millington.
  10. The team has a lot more structure and demand out of them now. Workouts have started and some things have been changed up (for the better). Asst. coaches have actually been attending clinics and some football coaches with previous experience are in the processes of being hired. Things that should have been done a while back. If this would have been done a few years ago, a few more titles might have been awarded to Millington....who knows. But I definitely think things are on the right track. The kids are working hard.
  11. Whitehaven scored again just before the end of the scrimmage on a long pass play. It was like they were trying their best to score again, passing a lot. Our safety got beat which set up the score. Our secondary has been our achilles heel for a while. If we fix that our defense looked great. They covered the run well and short passes were stopped. Offense a little sluggish against WStation but looked really good against Whaven. I think this team will improve tremendously as the season progresses. This is a team that will steadily get better and better. That is what good coaching will do with a bunch of talented kids. These two scrimmages were against two of the top programs in the state of Tennessee.
  12. You can "scrimmage" teams in the spring. From what I understand Whitestation, Trezevant, and Millington rotated on offense and defense every series. Anyone see firsthand the incident where the White Station coach struck and spit on the Trezevant Player. What was the deal with that? Has anything come of it?
  13. The talent is there. I think the upcoming sr class won the district their 9th grade year and a lot of the upcoming jrs played last year. The soph class won the district this past year.....If those big lineman produce along with the running backs we have coming along and with proper coaching, I think the Trojans will be back on top. I also think all of those elements will be in place by fall. Anyone know when spring practice starts and who we might be scrimmaging this year?
  14. I have heard some big things are happening for the Trojans. A lot of excitement is starting early for the team. Some new changes are bringing in some seriousness into what this program is capable of. Too bad it is about 3 years too late. How will the Trojans fare in the district this next year? What does the next few years look like for the Trojans? (Hint: the rest of the region might want to start recruiting like the D2s do). Who else might be contenders for the region championship? Cordova? Craigmont? Will Arlington have another Cinderella season or since they lost over 20 senoirs are they back to where they have been in the past??? Who's it gonna be????????????
  15. Millington should be pretty heavy with talent. Some of those big lineman who were soph last year should be able to contribute this next season for some very good backs in Taylor, Gennessy, and Webber. You have several good defensive players coming back and should have some solid play from soph Derek Evans, Ben Allen and several others who were underused last year. Overall, a lot of talent on this Trojan team...the big question is will the new coach be able to incorporate it quickly enough??
  16. Here's a question. Why hasn't the Millington administration selected a HC yet? I realize that they are trying to be thorough ... but it seems to me that they could have made a selection by now ... unless they are considering going after a coach who is still coaching at the present moment. Otherwise ... what's the hold up? What's the rush? It ain't like they need to get out on the recruiting field! It seems we are one of the few teams that doesnt....anyway, we are waiting on a response from coach West and he will only come if he can get Will Hudgens eligible for one more year of HS football!
  17. Wacky season this year. Several questions to be answered, (1) How will a new coach impact the players? What kind of offense and defense will he run? Same stuff or change it up? Will he make other coaching changes? (2) What talent do we have returning RBs, Lineman, QB? Will those big lineman contribute this next year?Better season next year? How much better? MUS, Olive Branch, and CBHS again next season. Playing those games help or actually hurt this year? Arlington had a soft schedule and beat us, so did it help or hurt?
  18. Ok, its been done.....Hawkins resigns. Who is going to be the next head coach at Millington? My vote is Coach Michaels!!!!! Whoever it is, they are walking into a lot of talent and a heavy schedule again next year. This is new ground for the principal and I hope he takes sound advice and makes a good decision. Any thoughts or comments Millington fans? Names floated out there-Tommy Harrison returns, Coach Fisher is moved up, Coach Michaels returns home......??????????
  19. You have got to have a favorite team, maybe the city you live in or the HS you graduated from. Anyway, like I said before, Trojans probably the best and most dangerous 5-5 team in the west part of Tn., and as I said before, a lot of these guys busting out the Trojans will be hard to find next year with the team we have coming up.....big, strong, and fast. It is only human nature for them to have their fun.....for now
  20. footballismylife, arent you an Arlington fan? Such nasty overtones!!! If you are an Arl fan good luck with Indy. And if you are an Arl fan I really hope you are online around this time next year. If you are not an Arl fan, whose do you choose?
  21. Dude - you West TN boys obviously do not know how to do geography. Independence, Franklin, Brentwood are all from Williamson County not NASHVILLE and IMHO you are going to be playing Willamson County teams starting with Independence, than Franklin, and hopefully Brentwood. You might want to also note that Williamson County has had a team in the State finals how many of the past years? Read it: 6 of 7 with all 3 of your potential opponents being state finalists or state champions. No Nashville teams have been there and only 1 West TN team: Germantown. So you are correct. You will get a chance to prove how good you are against the some of the best. Buckle up your chin straps and bring it on!!!!! Go Bruins!! The private schools here get a big bunch of our marquee players which hurt the publics over here.
  22. Rob M, well said......off the subject thread here but the Trojans could shock some teams if they pulled the reins back on the mistakes. Could be the best 5-5 team in the west. I would think the crowds at Arlington are bigger this year than they were the past couple of years also.
  23. Cam, that hits the nail on the head....sound, solid advice...What can be done to make this happen this Friday?
  24. I agree with what you guys are saying, but no one has said anything about the tackling. I can't believe at this level those kids still do not know the fundamentals of tackling. And I've seen them play more than just the Arlington game. Players in the right places to make plays and then miss tackles! It finally bit them in the rear end Friday. I am behind the team 100% and hope they whoop up on Wooddale. Would be nice to see them put it all together in the playoffs. Not changing around personnell would be a good thing and better tackling would be an asset also. Not all negative.....
  25. Breaking the huddle with 12 men is also inexcusable. How about breaking the huddle with 11 and then once lined up a sub runs out and replaces a player already lined up. What is that????? All of it comes to one thing...poor coaching,.....12-14 returnees not being prepared, streakee play, penalties. Every time we have been in a big game atmosphere we get outcoached, period. The history is there....cant be denied.. Are Tommy West and Coach Hawkins related?
