  3. Just wondering if someone could place the Web page address on the board. I can't seem to find it through the address mentioned on the softball board. Thanks!
  4. Applications being accepted for Brentwood's annual Coca Cola Classic at The City of Brentwood's Crockett Park, APRIL 2-3. Pool Play + Single Elimination Tourney. Competition, Good Facilities, Close to Cool Springs Mall. For more information, call Brentwood High: (615) 595-2078 (office), (615) 373-0536 (fax) or Coach Chiariello (615) 599-0255
  5. The correct ruling on this play is that either or both players that jump center cannot touch the ball more than twice. However, if either or BOTH players touch the ball & it hits the floor, any of the players (10), including the jumpers may control the ball & be legal. That team then is credited with posession of the ball for determining the direction for the alternating posession. This rule has not changed in the last 30 years.
  6. I don't know either one of these teams, but for informatin purposes only, "Flagrant technical foul" does not mean someone threw a punch. It could only be an agressive action, but there does not have to be contact to be ejected. Again, wasn't there, don't know what happened, but the girl will probably face a 1 game suspension by TSSAA for being ejected. The game is a game, just let the rules work. Someone said the ref was a dad, then someone said he wasn't, someone made it sound like a punch was landed and someone said no one got hit. Before we go to far & label this rivalry as being more than it is, let's get ALL the facts in before we judge. Did the coaches help calm the problem on the court, did the players, did the fans, whose fault is this. Just a question from someone outside looking in.
  7. Let's not get too carried away with emotions. Who is the best coach between Coach Pantall or Coach Seig. They are both great coaches, probably the 2 best coaches in 11-AAA. Do they teach fundamentals, they both do. Who's going to win next time? If you look at history, probably Brentwood, but Franklin has played Hillsboro close in recent years, just got to get past the history of the 2 programs. I believe they both have been to the STATE TOURNEY, just not as head coach but maybe as assistant. Both the coaches have a tremendous amount of CLASS & CHARACTER which you don't see very often in high school sports or any sports these days. I'm looking from the outside & I see 2 coaches that work hard during the season and the off season, some just get more tallent than the other but that doesn't mean they shouldn't play the game. Best of luck to both coaches & programs, who hope to represent the District and county well in future matchups & opponents.
  8. Pistachio is correct. You can only be called for "kicking" when it is done intentionally. It doesn't matter if it is by offense or defense & neither is priority over the other. Why would one intentionally kick the ball? Good question, but sometimes "IT" happens, that's what the rules says so someone must have done it before. There is nothing in the rule book about kicking it in the stands or away from someone, it says "Intentional Only", not if the ball hits the leg.
  9. TROJANBOB- You really have a great observation. I don't usually reply to these posts but I have seen many "TROJANBOB'S" in this world that speaks what's on their mind & is just wanting a fair shake. I realize the kids work hard at McMinn, probably harder than most any other team. And it's a shame with all that hard work that the refs take it away from them. When they throw the ball away or miss shots, they should give the ball back to them. And when the fouls are going against them, say 8 against them & only 1 against the other team, the refs should know that no matter how hard or often the team fouls again, the next foul HAS TO be called on the other team to help even things up. I know that would keep all the fuss about calling fouls on 1 team down, just hope the team doesn't realize that they sould be getting a free foul before they get caught. And if the refs would do these simple things, these boards would probably go away because there wouldn't be anything else to complain about. Not trying to stir things up, I think Trojanbob agrees that we aught to be able to say what's on our mind, thanks for reminding me.
  10. I know JC & Shelbyville help with summer AAU team, just surprised Shelbyville didn't get in on the hunt for this one. Jobs must be full there. Hope she has a great career and can stay exited about bb & continue to have fun. Hope the adults don't push her to make the olympic team & grow at her own level. Best of luck-
  11. Coach G has been one of the best coaches in the Nashville area. He coaches with heart & expects his players to play with their also. Work hard, quit listening to winers to become winners. Saw the Glencliff game the other night, thought they just made too many unforced turnovers. Discipline will come with patience. Give the players & coach both & they will be a team to reckon with. Scorer got ejected at halftime, sounds like a parent but must have been a teacher. Never heard of such before. Guess Hillwood has to clean house somewhere else first. Need to have great program but takes a lot of effort from administration all the way down. Best of luck to Coach G & Hillwood rest of year
  12. RHS02- Sounds like you must be trying to coach. Officials work just as hard, at least the good ones. I'm glad to see the coaches coaching on Mon, Wed & Thurs. The officials are working on those days too, plus Saturdays, then go to meetings on Sundays. Then it's Monday all over. But, you're right, they don't get paid as much and do not have a supplement on the line. If they don't do good, they don't work. Not sure I want to do that.
  13. We played against Gretchen this summer & she will be a great addition to Kentucky. Best of luck to her!

    Megan Rhodes

Update, In the 7th inning on Wed against Lenoir City, game is tied 0-0. Megan R has 18 strikeouts, Jenni Anderson hit in face with ball off bat batting, gone for x-rays Winner yet to be determined.
  16. I agree, I have seen both Goodpasture & Boyd B play, I think Goodpasture may be better & have to be a younger team. Ezell is playing with a lot of confidence now & I see them everybit as good as Boyd. But, Boyd is a team that you have to deal with & is a pretty darn good team. They can hit the long ball as well as anyone I have seen this year, except maybe G'pasture. Good Luck to all 3 teams because I believe they will all be at STATE.
  17. I was able to see Hickman County play in the district tournament, they have a great team full of excitement. Congratulations on going to the Region tournament. They have a great pitcher with plenty of support behind her, good luck the rest of season.
  18. sftblcoach is correct in his interpretation from B Childress. Game Situations can not be simulated which means taking infield, live pitching, etc. If you think you are helping yourself & that is what you want to do, quit your high school team. Just when you think no one cares, but there is someone always watching from another team. If you get caught, the team can forfeit games AND COULD be ineligibe for tournament play. It was mentioned that the difference in JV & Varsity is number of innings. THat has nothing to do with it. If you are playing JV game, then you are using JV Players on BOTH TEAMS. Starting pitchers & catchers, ss, etc are not playing. Normally, juniors & seniors are not being used, but may if need for players. I saw a team this year calling a JV game, that changed pitcher & catcher, but had seniors in game & all other positions filled with starters. THIS IS NOT A JV GAME (with 5 freshmen sitting on the bench). And guess what, when the end of game came up & score was close, the starting pitcher came back in. This is called VARSITY, there is a difference. Seems like everyone wants to get by the rules, just like teams that organize in pre-season & start practicing (game situations or scrimage out of state) before season starts. This is just as bad or worse. The integrity of the game is on "THE COACHES" to abide by the rules, what are you teaching your players, to cheat? It's not worth forfeiting the season because someone's summer coach wants to start. Guarantee he would rather have a high school player than one that isn't. Follow the rules, don't act like they are hard to figure out. Rules, something to go by!!!
  19. To the 3 seniors at BHS, congratulations on your accomplishments. Good luck to all 3 in your college days but lets not let that get in the way of a few more wins. JJ has had a great bat this year and has played really well at 2nd base, playing the best ball that I have seen. Krissy, thanks for being part of the team & leading off. We have watched you grow up & take the game seriously now to help this team try to win another championship. KO, what can anyone say. Someone who wants to play so badly & finally now can get back in that lineup. Your parents & your teammates are so proud of the way you lead this team by example but have not yet acomplished the goals that you have set out to achieve. The youngsters look up to you 3 that have helped to carry the BRUIN tradition. Don't leave it on the field, finish the job & have fun doing it. PS> KO check your cleats
  20. Softball5, Don't worry about Tarrah, she has her future in front of her. She is a very bright young pitcher, I have watched her for a couple of years & she is someone other teams in this tough district will have to battle. There are many good pitchers in this district & all the glory sometimes doesn't get passed around. You have to remember some of the other girls have been pitching for 8-9 years, but if she continues to progress, HC will be a tough game as always. You have had some really good wins lately. I talked to you a couple of weeks ago & I understand your frustration as a parent, but she is tough & will be fine with her desires. Good Luck through the rest of the season.
  21. Weasel- Could you give directions to the ball fields for the tourney this weekend, I-24 from Nashville & from SR-111 at US-27 coming from Dunlap? Thanks!

    ezell/ba

Good comments! Chrissa Cantrell made a great diving catch late in the game from Brittany Herald at the top of the inning for the 1st out, I believe. BA played a really good game, good defensive plays. They have a pretty tight infield.
  23. Everything Rsquared said is true. In addition to that, softball teams can have only (1) non-faculty coach on it's team. If more are used & reported, .....?
