  1. Howdy Wavelink, Can't wait for the season to start but you know you have to yell double loud this year. I think I'll make a cardboard cut-out and put it in my seat. Should be a special year. After last year I would say the only thing that is a huge question will be the turnover situation & maybe a little better clock management in the close ones.
  2. There will be more than a few GreenWave fans at the game to support their old Coach. Hey Fuggly can we have him back? One of the biggest games Joslin coached at Gallatin was a win over Riverdale. This will be yet another huge game for the Warriors. I guess that's a testament to the Riverdale program...it seems like EVERY game is a huge game. Good luck to both teams. Should be a great atmosphere.
  3. The school is located in Hendersonville off of Center Point Road and can be seen on the Vietnam Veterans bypass. Don't know much about it other than it has been open for a couple of years. As far as B-ball is concerned I don't have a clue. If Golden Tate plays basketball...watch out. That kid is an athlete.
  4. I'll be at most of the games this year cheering for my GreenWave but it looks a little shaky. It might be a long year if someone doesn't step up and shoot the ball. It looks like everyone is waiting for Kendrick to shoot. We have some promising potential but........I'm afraid Coach Kendrick has her work cut out this year. Good Luck Wave.
  5. I went to the jamboree Saturday night and didn't see much. Gallatin had about 8-10 players that didn't dress. I think Five were football guys that haven't had an opportunity to practice yet. We should see a whole new lineup this year with the loss of Wiggins, Messenger, Coakley, Troope, and all. Hopefully we'll have a decent group to watch.
  6. Sorry Riverdale guys but Rankin is probably looking towards the end of his PUBLIC SCHOOL career at least in Tennessee. Gallatin went through the same type thing with Short as has been mentioned. One of the main reasons Short left Gallatin had something to do with how your retirement is decided. I think it's based on the last couple of years of income. Rankin can probably "retire" and double dip with a private school. I don't know if this varies from county to county or if it is statewide. Unless I'm bad wrong that is why Coach Short became principal at Portland. You Panther fans hate hearing this but strange coincidence what happened to that program after he came. At the very least it sure helps to have admin that supports the athletics. As far as Rankin goes, forget the recruiting accusations, the arrogance accusations, the man can flat coach a football team. Look at my woeful Vols...they are absolutely loaded with talent and can't get it together. Year in and year out Rankin and his staff get the most out of their players and do a phenominal job of developing the talent that have. How many D1 players have gone through that program? Having grown up in Gallatin during the glory days I have to be jealous but Riverdale gets it done.
  7. Look, neither team can complain about officiating. On the pass that #6 Hall threw to #9 Gleaves Brentwood interfered TWICE...first the pushing on the route and second when he grabbed his arm when the ball arrived. There are missed calls in every game. Maybe you guys need to go back and watch the game a little closer with your blinders off. There were enough bad calls to go around. Plain and simple, Gallatin got beat because of a special teams meltdown and poor play selection. Until we CONSISTENTLY throw the football we will always get beat by a more diversified offense.
  8. fromthetop As much as it pains me you are dead on...special teams killed us but what really made the difference was play calling for Gallatin. Brentwood hammered us in the middle of the line and we never stopped running the little qb draw. Until we lose this ultraconservative mentality we will continue to be a second round and out team. By the way the only thing hurt on that roughing call was the kicker breaking the high heel off his cleat. That was cheap but it worked...all part of the game.
  9. Papabear, Not sure but I think the interference call on the interception was because the db was blocking the receiver while the ball was in the air. The Gallatin receiver had absolutely no chance of catching that ball but the db was blocking a little early. I am not going to complain about officiating. My complaint still centers around coaching and in particular playcalling. If points are so hard to come by that we try the pitiful onside kick then why not try to move the ball BEFORE halftime. We got the ball back with 1:51 on the clock with two timeouts and made no attempt to move the ball. We had success throwing the ball previously. Also I think redbaron may have pointed this out but the sweep by Sadler that set up the opening score should have tipped off somebody to get the ball outside. Why not a speed sweep to Manning or a slant pass to Hall. B'wood single covered Hall with a 5 to 10 yard cushion all night. A slant pass and he would still be running today. Brentwood did a great job shutting down the middle and we did nothing to counter. Let's face it GreenWave fans, as long as Lassiter adopts this "so conservative he squeeks when he walks" offense we will never make it past the third round at best. Too many good teams with a more diversified approach to offense. I have one word to sum up the "Defense wins championships" statement..."poop." Still gotta find paydirt. itsprings...If the kicker was hurt then the booing was in bad taste...but we both know that was bogus. It's all part of the game and he got away with it so a sarcastic congrats.
  10. Take 65 North to the Vietnam Veteran's Bypass exit. Stay on Vietnam Veteran's and it will reduce to one lane and merge into Hwy. 31 (Gallatin Road). Stay on Gallatin Road / Hwy 31 until you get to Gallatin. Turn right at Krystal restaurant. This will take you to Sumner Regional hospital. The stadium will be straight across from the hospital behind a doctors office. You should be able to see the stadium lights. If you go on past the hospital a couple of hundred yards the library will be on the left side of the highway. Turn beside the library and you will be on the visitors side or you can park in one of the hospital parking lots and walk across. Hope this helps. Should be roughly a 45 minute drive from Brentwood.
  11. Quack, In the Wilson Central game Gallatin was without our two best cover guys. They collided head to head in the Glencliff game and took them both out. They are also two of our best receivers. All the previous posts are right though. Gallatin can not afford to make the mistakes that were made in the first half of the season. Brentwood's ability to move the ball quickly allows them more room for mistakes. The wave's passing game has looked sharp the last few games but that grind in out running philosophy kills us when you have to come from behind.
  12. Wow, a fella can get beat up pretty good in this thread but I can take it. They say it's hard to beat the same team twice in one year but in this case Riverdale will find the ways necessary to beat Smyrna worse than before. Until somebody proves it on the field I'm going with Riverdale. Before you Smyrna guys get too excited, I'm a GreenWave fan so I really don't have a dog in the hunt. In fact if we are so lucky I'd rather take my chances against the Bulldogs somewhere down the road ...it aint happening for either of us.
  13. Good post as usual GWave. LARGE...oh nevermind. Nobody likes taking a whoopin' at the hands of Gallatin but this is laughable. Wave will win this one in the predictable fashion...grind it out...quarterback with about 25 carries...and a 10 point win. I hope it's much worse but just advance past the first round with no injuries please. #52 Jones will be back, correct?
  14. The old high school building was torn down several years ago and an effort was made to build a new stadium at the existing high school building. I don't think anybody liked the idea of having a track around the field so the idea kinda died out. I personally like the atmosphere with the fans right on top of the field. Besides all that we don't mind the visiting fans showing up late because they went to the wrong place!!!!
  15. The key to Gallatin winning this game is the offense taking care of the ball. I would guess that we have the worst problem of putting the ball on the ground of all the teams in the region. We have recovered a bunch of those but they are still drive killers. Hendersonville was the most complete game we have played due to the smokestack I. Overton racked up points but it was mostly due to turnovers. Our defense will more than hold it's own Friday night but we better get some help from the offense. Look for McG to take to ball outside and take advantage of their speed. Wilson Central and Overton both had success with that speed sweep. Heart says Gallatin Head says McGavock GreenWave by 1, (21 to 20 )
