  1. tlove, to be a sevier county supporter i would hope that you would know that meadows is a jefferson county (they're in your region).
  2. i think jpats has a grudge with anything or anyone that isnt from dandrigde or jefferson city.
  3. run, push ups, and sit ups if you dont have a local gym to go to. if you dont work out over this 2 week period. you're coach will be able to tell, and you'll be wishing you did when fall practice starts. you dont think 2 weeks is that big of a deal, but when you're used to running and working out 4 or 5 days a week, they add up. that's 8-10 days w/o anything. if nothing else, run circles around your house and do sit ups and push ups. if im not mistaken, hershell walker never lifted a weight in his life, and look how he turned out. all he did was push ups and sit ups. that's just hear say though
  4. that had alot to do w/it. but there was no senior leadership. there were only 3 or 4 guys that wanted to be leaders, and the other 20 SR's just kind of sat back and watched. i think alot of them had the idea in their heads that "i've already got a ring." i watched the 2001 semi-final game against goodpasture and alcoa had the game won. they had 4 or 5 dropped balls that were big, plus they fumbled late in the 4th quarter while they were driving down for a score. GP blocked a punt and ran it back for a TD for the deciding points. Alcoas personal protector got ran straight back into the punter. I went on to the boro' the following weekend and watched all the games. Alcoa could have easily beaten Westview in that game. GP only scored 1 offensive TD, the other 7 pts came from a blocked punt ran in for the score, the same guy that did it to alcoa the week before. they could have repeated no doubt in my mind about that, but there was noone who wanted to step up and be a true leader. it takes more than just a few.
  5. belive me, if meadows knows how to do anything, it's motivate kids to go out and play hard. i played for him and know first hand what kind of motivator he is. we had everything fall into place in 2000 at alcoa, and we took home the gold ball. hopefully, everything will repeat itself this year at jefferson county.
  6. jpats, seriously man, i think we're all getting a little bit tired of the whole "when they were freshmen" bit. face it, it doesnt have a thing to do w/what's going to happen in 2003's football season
  7. if morristown west is smart, they'll line up in a 2 TE set and run the ball down maryville's throat and see if they can stop it. having to replace all 3 of their great LB's and replacing Cole McKinney at DT will be where maryville will be vulnurable. i'd balance their 4-3 up w/2 TE's and run it till they proved me they could stop it.
  8. i dont think any harm was intended. it sounds like 4AFan is just having some fun w/splains being addicted to coacht like the rest of us
  9. missing, i dont know who you talked to in dandridge last weekend, but everyone i've talked to is more excited than ever for this upcoming football season. i've watched a few workouts and parents show up just to watch kids work out, and they're there giving the players support and encouraging them to work hard and good things will come. Something good has already come. Jeff is getting a new 4 million dollar field house that is supposed to be ready by the first game, August 29th at home against Rhea County. 1,000 sq. ft. locker room. 60 yard indoor practice facility. 2 huge head coach and asst. coach offices. along w/additional weight room facilities. Anyone who knows about jeff co's locker room knows that ANYTHING is an improvement. This is the first step from the community to back the Patriots this year, and the players are ready as ever to get the season started.
  10. scooter houston, sub 4.4 jeff jennings, sub 4.5 tyler brown, mid to upper 4.5 chris shiverdecker, 4.5-6 aaron carson, 4.6-7 trey reliford, 4.6-7 they also have alot of guys that are 4.7-8 range. not blazing speed, but they look good. jeff has the talent to go deep into the playoffs and possibly make a run for the gold ball. if they keep their heads on straight, and go out every friday night and get the job done, then things will take care of themselves. Jeff's big test is in back to back weeks at home against DB, and at Morristown West
  11. will healy is a PLAYER. i saw last years game against rhea county and he can absolutely hum the football. not to mention his mobility. one play though stands out to me from that game. healy was scambling for about 30 yards behind the LOS, and rolling to his right, fired a bullet back across his body into the hands of a WR 40 yards downfield to convert a big 3rd down. WOW. guess you just have to see it to see how amazing it was
  12. i heard shane acuff was impressive in spring. said he doesnt miss many balls, he just lacks speed
  13. havent heard, but they will fill alot of positions out and get alot accomplished when practice rusumes after the dead period and when they go to camp in late july
  14. what difference does it make, you knew where i was talking about
  15. shiverdecker's playing time will depend on how well he can adapt to the speed of the game. it's a different level in high school than in middle school. and to see if he can take a hit. from what i've heard, he's already playing varsity, not going to play freshman and jv ball. he can be an impact player, it just depends on the previously menitoned things
  16. if mo west can generate some offense, then i'll go w/the team that returns 10 starters on defense. but i hear the secondary is sketchy.
  17. if noone in middle tennessee cares, then why are you ranting and raving back and forth w/jpats????
  18. they improved alot from last year, and were disappointed w/the quarterfinal loss to DB. There's a sense of urgency i guess you could say about this coming season. Meadows and the coaching staff have the kids enthusiastic about this coming season, and i've been told they are working very hard this off season. They have a great chance of being region champs as well as making a deep run into the playoffs. With DB only returning 3 offensive starters, that makes the outlook look much better. the big test of the year will come in week 4, a non region game against morristown west. from what people have said on coacht, as well as talking to others, they're defense is going to have to win them games, b/c they have no offense. So the big 2 games for Jeff will be played back to back, at home against DB and on the road at West.
  19. North Carolina likes him alot. 6'2" 180 w/a mid to upper 4.5 40. He's a playmaker, bottom line. In the spring game, he had a 40 yard catch and run that set up the winning score. Broke 6 tackles after the catch. He'll be a vital part of the Patriot offense this season, alont w/houston,jennings, carson, vickers, reliford, hoover, huskey and clement.
  20. upper east tn, to most, is far above the jefferson county lines, even though they play in region 1. i, as well as others, consider jefferson county to be in "east" tennessee, not "upper east" tn, which is where i was referring to. above morristown, on into green, sullivan, washington, and carter counties. im very close w/the players you mentioned, and know they have the ability to play at the next level. you were just misunderstood on where i was drawing the line between "east" and "upper east".
  21. this inman character is not on etsu's signee list, who is he oh great guru?
  22. why does it matter that they sign w/a DI,II,III, or NAIA school? As long as an athlete gets the chance to continue their education and play the sports that they love is all that matters. Congrats to any one and everyone who gets to go on to the next level, regardless of what level it is.
  23. Lamon Williams is the only player in upper east tennessee that has the ability to play D1 football. he's hands and feet above the rest of upper east tennessee talent.
