  1. I wasn't able to be at the game. What happened...I thought Upperman would win this game? Any details?
  2. The Lady Bees played against a very good Dekalb County team last night...and did a GREAT job!! With the most unfortunate injury to the Lady Bees pitcher...they have been left in a very difficult situation! But you couldn't tell that last night. 1st of all, we all feel so bad for Casey. She has worked really hard through the off-season on her pitching and it was definetly showing. She had improved so much from last year and was getting better and better with each game. We are so sorry for Casey and we definetly miss her presence on the field. But, of course, she is right there with the team, encouraging them and overlooking her loss of playing. She is a very special person and a great athlete!! Look out next year...SHE"LL BE BACK!! Now, back to the game. Obviously, when you look at the score of the 1st game, it doesn't appear that the Lady Bees had their best game. They didn't in stats, but this was their best game as a TEAM. Most teams would have just laid down and quit in the position they are in. But, they did just the opposite. It was obvious that each player knew they had to step up and play their best game to make up for the loss of their pitcher. Their coaches showed great confidence in the team. Unfortunately, Upperman doesn't have another pitcher with any real experience. A few have pitched a little here and there, but nothing close to being experienced. Their pitcher in the 1st game showed so much character...she was put in some really "big shoes", and she did a great job! It was obvious the other team wasn't planning to swing the bats if they didn't have to. So many players were in positions that they weren't used to playing (because a lot of shuffling had to be done to come up with a pitcher). The second game of the double header was really different. It was obvious that Upperman was starting to adjust to all that has happened in the past week. The Lady Bees showed that they won't back down or give up no matter what they are handed. They will keep fighting and keep digging to do what they have to do. It will be an interesting season now...because every girl on the team will probably be pitching at some point. Congratulations to the Lady Bees and to their coaches. They have shown great character in what they were dealt. Don't count them out!!! They seem to be on a mission of some kind!!!
  3. Magid...I'm sure it was a hard night for Audrey. She is an awsome player. But, that has been the situation for every senior that has ended their careers since the district tournaments began. No matter if you had good or bad refs, close game or not...anytime a senior plays their last game it is VERY hard. District 7AA has had MANY great senior athletes this year that ended their careers much earlier than should have been. We have such a talented district that we lose some awsome seniors earlier than is fair...but that's the way the ball bounces. Good luck to ALL the seniors in District 7AA!! You have definetly given all of us a season to remember and will be talked about for many years to come!!!! I think this has been the most exciting season for District 7AA basketball because all of the teams have been so equal all year. It doesn't matter which games you watched...you never went into the gym knowing for sure which team would win on a given night. GOOD LUCK to the seniors on all 7 teams...ALL OF YOU are awsome players and very special people!!! We have been very lucky to get to witness your last year of high school basketball!!
  4. Wish Upperman had a coach that would motivate them!
  5. Well, I don't know who Magid is...but I think I'm glad I don't. I think it's sad when people get on here and make comments about kids. If people want to cut EACH OTHER down on here, then that's up to them. But to make negative comments about kids who already feel terrible anyway...that is pretty sad. I would say on Monday night, Upperman's girls will be at Tech watching your girls play ball. I hope Smith Co. plays as good Monday night as they did last night and it should be a very good ballgame.
  6. I have said many times...when Monica has an "ON" night...I pitty whoever she is playing. I don't think there is anyone in this district that can contain her when she plays like she did tonight.
  7. WOW...this was a really tough way to end the season. But, you have nothing to be ashamed of. You all did so much more this year than anyone ever dreamed possible. You had 3 seniors that will definetly be missed next year. This was a really tough game to lose...look at this year as the whole season and not just the last game.
  8. Is everyone healthy on both teams?????
  9. OK...just heard Upperman won by 13. the Medley girl wasn't dressed out and had a brace on her knee...is she going to play anymore or is she out????
  10. did anyone ever hear the score?????
  11. well...I believe I remember a "little ole AA team" called Upperman beat Shelbyville 2 years ago...so I guess it just depends on how long you consider "a long time" to be????????
  12. That is very true! York girls didn't quit until the last buzzer sounded. The starters were still on the floor at the end of the 4th quarter fighting. They are a great team!
  13. I'm going with "devilfanatic"... cause...you know, he said that Upperman couldn't guard Brandi Brown...and boy was he right??????????!!!!!!!!!! He really respects those lttle short girls, doesn't he? In this district, I would be afraid to EVER say if a team or a player can't be handled. 7AA sure does have some superstars, that's true! Every team in 7AA also has some GREAT players that aren't superstars. Not to take away from the "superstars" because they are awsome players...but I don't think they got to this point by themselves. I never have seen a game where one team had 5 on the floor and the other team had ONE on the floor!
  14. I may be wrong...but isn't that what athletics are all about??? When you play any given team, you play according to the strengths and weaknesses of each team? Obviously, anytime short people play tall people it makes the game easier to keep the ball out of the post. I guess when slow people play fast people, it makes the game easier to slow the pace down. I guess when a team has good 3 point shooters it makes it easier to not leave them wide open outside. But isn't that what the game is all about?...trying to keep a team from using their best weapons????? But...York did get the ball in the post some last night...and part of the time they had to kick it back out because of good defense and part of the time there were some shorter girls in black uniforms come dribbling out of a pack of tall people with the rebound. Wouldn't it make the game of basketball really boring if every team had the same weapons and everybody played the game the same all the time???
  15. Upperman definetly was in control the whole game. They played awsome. Just goes to show you...size isn't everything! I guess nobody told Upperman how "short" they are...because they play pretty tall! (I think I read on a post somewhere that there was no way Upperman could guard York's height???)
