If Blackman beats Cookeville, then you throw out head-to-head all together and would move next down on the list which is how they did against highest seeded opponents on down. Since Oakland lost by a bigger score to Riverdale than did Blackman and Siegel, then Oakland would be seeded 4th. The next comparison would be then for 2nd and 3rd with Siegel and Blackman against the next highest seeded opponent which in this case would be Oakland. In that scenario, Siegel beat Oakland and Blackman lost to Oakland, so Siegel would get the #2 seed and Blackman would get the #3 seed. That is how I understand the by-laws, but let the coaches hash it out this week in their district meeting. Good luck to everyone. Of course if Blackman loses, then everything above is for nothing. If Blackman loses, then the seeding would be Riverdale, Siegel, Oakland, Cookeville, Blackman, Lebanon, White Co. and Warren Co. Everyone have fun and play hard!

    1. Riverdale 7-0-0=21 (Congrats on top finish and perfect district record) 2 - 4 = Waiting on the finish between Cookeville and Blackman Thursday night but points as of right now are: Siegel 5-2-0=15; Oakland 5-2-0=15; and Blackman 4-2-0=12 (Cookeville would move into 4th if they beat Blackman on Thursday) If Blackman wins on Thursday night, then Oakland goes to 4th and Cookeville to 5th. 2nd and 3rd between Blackman and Siegel cannot be decided until the final score of the game Thursday. 5. Blackman if they lose to Cookeville or Cookeville if they lose to Blackman 6. Lebanon 7. White Co 8. Warren Co

  8. No argument here. Respect is a two way street. I try to do "instruction" where I can as long as it does not take from the game. I have patted myself and said "my bad" on a number of occassions. Especially when the ball is kicked and I don't get out of the way fast enough and I get hit. I hate it when that happens and usually say "my bad" and apologize to the players while the ball is in play. Like I said in an earlier post, 98% of my experience has been positive and keeps me coming back. It is that 2% negative experience that many times gets blown out of proportion. Good luck and keep playing hard.
  9. I and most refs that I know usually don't have a problem with the players or coaches talking to us. It is HOW they talk to us that gets them in trouble most of the time. The talking that is comments about calls (i.e. What the $%@ kind of call was that? When was the last time you had your eyes checked? What the #$&? That was a stupid call. Is your kid on the other team? etc. etc. etc.) is usually what gets a player or coach in trouble. One of our roles as refs is instructional and we usually don't mind doing some of that. However, when a team questions or challenges or wants an explanation on every call, I for one am not going to get into a situation where the flow of the game is disrupted by this kind of tactic. Even when done in a tactful manner, constantly challenging or asking questions can become an infringement on the game. A little common sense and judgment on all parties goes a long way.
  10. There are bad stories that could be told from both the perspective of a referee or a coach. I have called over 20 games this season and have only had one bad experience and that was last night. I was calling what I believed to be an even game but I had one team where the players and coaches were running their mouths about everything. Talking with them and giving them an opportunity to fix the problem themselves did not work. I went to the cards and one player was ejected, a coach was carded, and both coaches of that team were benched. We also had to eject one of their fans for threatening an assistant. All of this in a, believe it or not, Middle School game. Until last night, I had only given out one yellow card all season and that was to one of the players on this team I had trouble with last night in a previous game. Their former coach came over to me after the game and said he was embarassed by their behavior and told me that he thought that I handled myself and the situation well. It was a bad experience. Now, contrast that with the experience that I had with a High School game on Monday night that was match between two undefeated teams in their district. They played hard and agressive but there was no dirty play and both teams' players were respectful of the calls. It was a great game to call and I enjoyed the experience tremendously. My point is this, the bad experiences I have had as a ref are few compared to all of the good experiences with a game that I love. I refuse to let those bad experiences drive me away from something I love and want to continue to participate in for as long as I am physically able. I have called about twenty games this season and only one of those has been a bad experience. If you have pictures of some of the calls as you suggest, then I encourage you to post those on this web site so we can observe them for instructional purposes. Thanks and keep playing hard.

OK, these are the points as I have them for now. Not the actual standings or rankings, just the points accumulated. Each team plays seven games in the district and has the potential of earning a total of 21 points. It is 3 points for a win, 1 point for a tie, and of course 0 for a loss. Good luck to eveyone on the rest of the season. Right now, Blackman has played two games and Riverdale three games in the district and they are the only two undefeated teams in the district. Riverdale: 3-0-0 = 9 points Cookeville: 3-1-0 = 9 points Blackman: 2-0-0 = 6 points Oakland: 2-1-0 = 6 points Siegel: 2-1-0 = 6 points Lebanon: 2-3-0 = 6 points Warren Co: 0-4-0 = 0 points White Co: 0-4-0 = 0 points

The Oakland win over Cookeville was big. I am glad for the details as I was wondering what happened. Congrats on a big win!

Here are the points so far with most teams having played at least two games in the district (the exception is Blackman that has only played one game in the district). This is not my prediction on how the teams will finish and it is not a ranking of the teams. All I am doing is showing how many points each team has in the district at this point in time. Now, having go that out of the way ... here we go. Riverdale 2 - 0 - 0 = 6 points Cookeville 2 - 1 - 0 = 6 points Lebanon 2 - 2 - 0 = 6 points Blackman 1 - 0 - 0 = 3 points Siegel 1 - 1 - 0 = 3 points Oakland 1 - 1 - 0 = 3 points Warren Co 0 - 2 - 0 = 0 points White Co 0 - 2 - 0 = 0 points If I have missed any games that were rescheduled due to all the rain outs, let me know and I will update this info.

  16. On a side note: Honduras beat Mexico last night 3 to 1. Not a good start for Mexico with two losses. Fun game to watch.

Warren County lost to Dekalb County last night 3 to 1. They are hurting. It does not look good for Warren County this year. /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />

Looks like the White Co and Warren Co game the end of April is shaping up to be an interesting game as both teams at the moment appear to be evenly matched. Their common opponent so far has been Cumberland Co and the scores were the same. If there is an advantage for the game on April 28th, it goes to White Co as the game is on their field.

Warren County 0 and Lincoln County 0 Was a pretty frustrating game to watch and I am sure for the players on both teams was probably pretty frustrating to play.
