  1. Hendersonville came to Mt. Juliet last night and I am very impressed with their Sophomores and Freshman. I see big things for these girls in the next two years as they are loaded with talent. In fact, as they continue to improve this year, they will make some noise come tournament time and they will be the team that nobody will want to play. Book it.
  2. Sounds like one of two things happened based on the boxscore. The Mt. Juliet posts have been leading the team in scoring. Consequently, my guess is the posts got into early foul trouble or Smyrna packed into a zone and forced the Lady Bears to beat them from the outside due to the lack of Taylor Hall being sidelined. I wasn't there, but that's my assumption.
  3. Congratulations to the Franklin team for their win at Mt. Juliet. It's interesting watching and listening during the course of a game to the parents of these "Milleneial" kids. I'm one of those parents myself, you know, whenever our kids played any sport everyone got a trophy or a medal and sometimes the score wasn't even kept. Now, employers are finding it difficult to deal with the first of this generation in the real world of jobs and responsibilities, even going so far as to hiring consultants to help them understand this generation. This being said, a parent of this generation for the Franklin team did something that I have never seen and hope to never see again during the game. Franklin led by around 25-27 points in the third quarter. Mt. Juliet, a little short-handed this year mounted a furious comeback to cut the lead to 10 in the fourth quarter. As we all know, "big boy" basketball at the high school level is a very, very physical game. Mt. Juliet and Franklin were both playing very physical during this stretch. At one point, one of our guards, Antwaun Majors was going for a steal, collided with a Franklin player and was called for a foul. At this point, a middle-aged man with a gray beard and pot belly stood up and at the top of his lungs screamed at Antwaun, "you stink" and pointed at him animated and angry. (The CoachT software will edit out what he really said, bit it started with an "s") Now, lets take a step back here. You can scream at officials, you can cheer for your team, etc., but a grown man should never, never verbally attack a 17 year old kid who's playing his heart out and trying to help his team overcome a large deficit. There are some schools I would expect this behavior from their fans but not Franklin. Several Franklin fans came to me after the game to express their total embarrassment for this idiot's behavior. He, on the other hand was hanging around the gym seemingly telling his story with a badge of honor. If any Franklin fan knows who this bufoon is, let him know that what he did was wrong on any level, cannot be rationalized. Oh, he doesn't get a participation trophy or a gold star. Good luck to the players for Franklin.
  4. Congrats to Slade Adams at Mt. Juliet for being nominated a Mr. Football Finalist. Here's hoping he serves up a stack of "pancakes" on Friday.
  5. Vote early and often.
  6. The Tullahoma band was really good. Oh, Mt. Juliet 7 penalties for 50 yards, Tullahoma 4 for 30 yards. Mt. Juliet went so deep in the bench, we didn't have names to go with all the freshman in the game halfway through the 3rd quarter. Those darn refs!!
  7. Wow, that was insightful, thank you Mr. Obvious. My point is that folks seem to think it's a foregone conclusion that it doesn't matter who does what from 6 4-A because of Hillsboro.
  8. Keep in mind folks that Mt. Juliet was just one yard away from beating Hillsboro last year. They are beatable.
  9. BigShu. I'm not the type to use the word "homegrown" officiating. The guy simply missed the call, a critical call because he was out of position. All this crap from the stands, "how much they paying you",etc.. is old and stupid. Like I said, Mt. Juliet had their chances and the score should have been 14-0 after the 1st. Coach Perry will re-group these kids and have them ready for a deep playoff run. Good Luck to all of region 6-4AAAA.
  10. Great high school football game for both teams. I will say however, the offensive pass interference call against the Bears was incredulous. The pass was thrown as a jump ball. Both the receiver and defender were facing the ball as it was coming down. The receiver and defenders legs got tangled up as both were looking back for the ball. This was incidental contact pure and simple and the back judge who threw the flag was 20 yards away while the official who had the play right in front of him spotted it as a completion. The body language of the official who did not flag the play told it all. His arms were folded and his head down as the back judge came in with the flag. While that was a critical play that in the situation should have been a no-call, Mt. Juliet had their opportunities to put Clarksville away early and failed to do so. Both teams will move on to the playoffs and make some noise for the region. Good luck Clarksville and I hope we meet again.
  11. Wildcats by 2 tds I try not to comment much on these games but the above quote reminds me that I did acid once in the '70's. It makes you hallucinate.
  12. Have only seen Kenwood during last week's loss to Mt. Juliet. The Kenwood QB is an unbelievable player with his field presence, and ability to throw and run. He is a carbon copy of Antonio Hefner at TSU who has the same skills. Theis defense is tough and are hard hitting and well disciplined. Don't know anything about Clarksville but I would offer this, buckle 'em up extra tight and contain the Knights quarterback if you can.
  13. Have to go with two "homer" picks here. Coach Roger Perry at Mt. Juliet in his second year has the Bears hitting on all cylinders now. Folks sometimes forget that Robert Hill the Senior starting QB has never played there until this year after moving over from wideout. The linebackers are solid with one of the best one-two punches in the state in Matt Jones and Caleb Knox and the D-Backs are picking up where they left off last year and are on pace to surpass the 18 picks last season. The team is bigger, stronger and faster and the weight room work is really showing this year. Second, Wilson Central's Trey Aric has to be given serious consideration. Did anyone see this team at 6-0? If you prognosticated that, go to Vegas. Still half the season to go and a lot of football yet to be played. This is high school, anything can happen.
  14. Coach Perry began heavy subbing in the middle of the 2nd quarter. Three quarterbacks played including a Freshman and guys were on the field during the second half that weren't listed on the roster, that's how deep he went. Mt. Juliet could have easily hung 70 points or more. Looking forward to the showdown's with Kenwood then Beech at home and winding up the regular season with Northwest and Clarksville away. Here's hoping for four more wins.
  15. they were beat by a 4a team last week that WC took apart I don't think a 13-6 win is taking anyone apart. For the uninformed, remember that Mt. Juliet started a converted wide receiver at quarterback for his first start in the biggest rivalry of the year and was facing "live bullets" for the first time. To clarify, Wilson Central had 155 yards on the ground and 11 yards passing while Mt. Juliet had 189 yards on the ground and 11 yards passing. This was a defensive struggle between the two teams. That being said, I think that Wilson Central has probably the best overall team speed that I've seen in a while and they fly to the ball. Lebanon, at this point, is a one trick pony relying on a great back, Hastings way too much with him getting the ball 60% of the time in the Mt. Juliet game. If the quarterback change is made for Lebanon due to injury then the tone of Lebanon's offense will change. I'd say Wilson Central by 6 in a very emotional game with the over/under on 15 yard penalties at 7.
  16. Interesting post. Roger took a knee with 2 minutes or so to go against Gallatin on their 4 or 5 yard line. Could have dropped 35 on them, (really 42 with the questionable call at the end of the first half). Nope, I think Roger plays well with others and give him a "S" on conduct.
  17. Reggie White John Hannah Steve Spurrier George Volkert, ('50s era from Isaac Litton, All American at Georgia Tech) E.J. Junior Preston Brown Ricky Gwinn, (Hillwood, WKU, Cowboys, concussions ended career) Al Wilson Patrick Willis Just to name a few
  18. Gotta say that Wilson Central certainly has one thing down pat this year. The Punk factor.
  19. I wouldn't get too excited. Springfield was without two of their best players due to personal reasons. However, the Bears took care of business. Knwojkl has 186 yards and Antuan Majors had 101. Robert Hill settled down and was 3 for 3 passing, 61 yards, and had a long int. return down to the two, 60 + yards. Majors also had an int and the Bears recovered two fumbles. It was the first "mercy rule" game as the Bears were up 35-0 at the half and the clock kept running. Coach Perry played everybody early and often in the 2nd half which is always great to see. Springfield scored with 18 seconds to go in the game against backups. The Bears had better buckle up the hats good as Gallatin rolls into town next Friday night for the first time since '00.
  20. Please...not this topic again for the 153rd time! How about some Mary Poppins soundtrack?
