  1. The game can be heard on the new Sportsradio 1230 WAKI. Pre-game starts at 5:30 and can be heard on the web at www.1230waki.com. GO PIONEERS!!!!
  2. ACCORDING TO WARREN COUNTY OFFICIALS THEY WANTED TO MOVE THIS GAME TO TONIGHT TO AVOID THE 2-4" THAT IS COMING ON FRIDAY NIGHT. GO PIONEERS!!!
  3. OH YEAH!!!!!!!!!!! Forgot all about Abdullah The Butcher's cheap shot last year!!!! GO PIONEERS!!!!!!!!!!
  4. The biggest battle that the Pioneers may have to overcome might be between their ears. WC hasn't won at Manchester since there head coach was a junior (I think...the year would be 1990). These kids have heard for years how they haven't beaten this team in a while (1999... I think) and no matter how these teams seem to break down on paper...the Red Raiders come out on top. I think that it could come down to K Tony Garibaldi (as it did last year). He missed three 35+ field goals (which are tough for most HS kickers, but makeable for him) in last year's 24-21 Coffee County win. It looks to be that Garibaldi's leg isn't as powerful as it was at the start the season. I hear that he is devoting alot of time to soccer during the week and is draining his leg for Friday night's. Plus, after week's of this routine... has also drained his leg for the year. I really hope that Tony is able to flip the switch from the practice kicks to the one's where 11 guys line up in front of ya. Everybody's been waiting for Tony to make that "BIG" kick that will cause people to remember his name in Pioneer lore for some time. But in year's past either the Pioneer's haven't put him in position to make it...or he's just flat-out missed it. Here's to a "BIG" game from Garibaldi!!! The Pioneers are playing for... -Three seed in region playoffs (fourth last year). -Four wins on the road (Last time in 1983). -Over .500 in region play for first time since 1989. -Three wins against 5A teams (or highest classification of TN HS football) since probably 1990 or farther. -First back-to-back year's of .500 ball or better since 1982 & 1983. Here's to more streaks being broken... GO PIONEERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. Great point on the rivalry and possible playoff implications. I just know that it would go down as one of those games that Sequatchie County folks would talk about for the rest of their lives if the Indians pulled the upset. Those games scare me greatly. Loved the shots of the field and the directions. Any suggestions on great places to eat before the game? I hope we make a good showing on... and off the field Friday night. GO PIONEERS!!!
  6. I've heard this stadium is nice and will hold our crowd. Let's remember...this is the Indians "bowl game". They've got nothing to lose and will pull out all the stops at getting a win versus a team that is three classifications ahead of them. Our kids... and fans... cannot afford to get cocky...or we could lose this game. We still need to realize that this is a team standing in the way of us getting to .500 for the season and play with the same intensity as last week. We have a shot to go 4-1 on the road this year (2-1 versus 5A teams). Plus, Back-to-back non-losing seasons could mean alot to this program...considering where we've been. GO PIONEERS!!!
  7. May not be Riverdale "OldSchool". Depends on the final game of the regualr season. Warrren County vs. Coffee Co. and possibly Lebanon vs. Smyrna. Don't write off the Pioneers to the 4th seed just yet. GO PIONEERS!!!!!!!
  8. First time the Pioneers have won in Winchester since 1983 (they haven't played every year since then...but they have played most years). Also the first time that Warren county has made the playoffs in back-to-back seasons since the '82 and '83 seasons. Warren County still has the ability to get to .500 on the season and over .500 in the region (with a win at Coffee Co. in two weeks). Great combined effort against Franklin Co. Moran was 4-6 yards away from a 100-yard rushing effort and the wrinkles with the fullback, tailback, split back and the toss to a motioned receiver (the "rocket reverse") are going to be tough for any team to defend. That was the most fun watching the Pioneers (on both sides of the ball) that I've experienced in a very looooooooooooooooooooooong time. Let's have a big crowd go to Sequatchie County this Friday night. GO PIONEERS!!!
  9. That score is on crack!!! Have you even looked at common opponents??? No way it's that one sided. Very tight game. GO PIONEERS!!!
  10. It's just nice to beat a team that we should. Great job Pioneers on keeping your nose to the grindstone. Holton and Officer were really making some nice moves last night. Lots of guys got some good playing time too. First win on Senior Night for the Pioneers in 16 years (1990). That night they shutout a team 28-0...it was Crossville. GO PIONEERS!!!
  11. Sorry...read it again and saw that you were addressing coaches. My thoughts exactly...in the words of REO Speedwagon..."Keep on Coaching"
  12. Thanks...but I'm not a coach. Great point on earlier post on numbers rising. The bridge between Middle School and the High School is sooooooooo much better than what it used to be. Coaches on both levels are on the same page and all work well together.
  13. AMEN!!! These people don't understand the gap that been shorn up between what it was and what it is now. We are only one win off from last year's pace, have played Cookeville to a closer contest than the previous year and (for those who love to bash the OC) have scored more points against Cookeville and Tullahoma than last year. No other sports program at WCHS is put under the microscope as much as this football program. Every other program gets a "as long as we play hard and compete it's OK, because we don't have the 'athletes' in Warren County" slap on the rear, while these football coaches are put through the ever lovin' wringer. SHOW ME SOME CONSISTENCY OR ZIP IT!!!! Everyone would've killed for this season last year, but because we made the playoffs last year, these "fans" expect a clinic bowl appearance this year. It's getting tired and old. You tell me if this coaching staff has brought improvement to this program. 2001 Fri Aug. 17 Centennial W 24-13 Fri Aug. 24 Shelbyville L 7-42 Fri Aug. 31 at Lincoln Co. 14. It's just one of those Oklahoma-MTSU games. If you destroy them...you should. If you play them tight...then you get the glass half-empty people squawking and some of the glass half-full people scratching their heads. If you lose...well...you see the progression.
  15. Falcons versus a house cleaner from the 60's??? I'll take the falcons...though watch out for the mop!!!
  16. A plug for anyone coming into the area from Cumberland Co. You can catch game on 1230 WAKI. Pre-game (with SportsEd, kellraiser, and two leather helmet dudes) will start around 6:15 PM. This game scares devil outta me. GO PIONEERS!!!
  17. Great question! You would probably need to go back some years. It was probably early 90's. GO PIONEERS!!!
  18. I'll be honest. I've dreaded this game for awhile. No common opponents, not much word on what they are bringing to the table. The Pioneers had better not let the Franklin Co. game blow their heads up to big. I remember a game played immediately after that awesome Lincoln Co. war, where a lot of people thought that Warren Co. would beat (Me being included in that bunch). Warren Co. comes out flat and White Co. plays great and inspired football. Result...Pioneers take one on the chin. This one will be close. When Warren County scores a TD first, they gain a lot of confidence and get the crowd into it. When they don't, it gets rough. Couple of things from Warren County's perspective. 1. Pioneers are looking to stay underfeated at home (3-0) this season. Last time was 1990. 2. Pioneers need two wins to have a winning record for the first time since 1990. 3. Pioneer QB Josh Paz is the all-time leading passer in Warren County Pioneer history, eclipsing 2,000 yards for his career. Paz passed former QB Lane McCarter (1987-1989) to gain the top spot. 4. Paz needs one more rushing TD to get to double-digit TD's this season. With three more he will move into the top ten in rushing TD's for a season. 5. This is the first ever meeting between the Pioneers and the Sequatchie Co. Indians. Let's hope we get another great crowd at the Nunley Stadium this week to root on this bunch. Chili Supper Tailgate Bash in the Middle School cafeteria from 5-7 PM. All proceeds go to Project Graduation 2006. Broadcast for the game begins at 6:00 PM on Newsradio 1230 WAKI/BL TV Channel 1. GO PIONEERS!!!!
  19. This nails it down for me. This will be the largest crowd that many have ever seen at Nunley Stadium. An absolute madhouse??? Probably. 3 1/2 hours to come to the game!!! This is going to be one that will be talked about for awhile... no matter what the outcome. GO PIONEERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. Here are the teams, other than Cookeville, and how they round out the schedule. I've heard from a pretty good source that if Warren Co., Coffee Co. and Cumberland Co. all finished 1-4 in the region that overall record would be the tie-breaker. Can anyone else confirm that? Team (Region Record) Warren Co. (1-2) vs. Franklin Co. vs. Coffee Co. Coffee Co. (0-3) vs. Lincoln Co. at Warren Co. Cumberland Co. (1-2) at Cookeville at Lincoln Co. Franklin Co. (2-1) at Warren Co. vs. Cookeville Lincoln Co. (2-1) at Coffee Co. vs. Cumberland Co.
  21. With a win, the Pioneers will end a 22 year playoff drought (1983...remember Jeff Womack) and pickup their 2nd region win of the season. This is bound to be a good one. Homecoming festivities start at the circle drive next to Nunely Stadium at 5:30 till 7:00 PM. Free Dr. Pepper/Sundrop courtesy of Dr. Pepper and pizza from Ryan's. Chance to win loads of prizes and two tickets to the Tennessee Titans - Oakland Raiders game. Newsradio 1230 WAKI/BL TV Channel 1 will start broadcasting live at 6:00 PM. Kick-off set for 7:30 PM. Some questions... Has there been a bigger football game in Warren County in the last 15 years? Why did Franklin Co. lose by 44 points to Baylor? Baylor that good or Franklin Co. that bad? Injuries? Suspensions? Will Nunley Stadium have biggest crowd in a long, long, long time? People sitting all around the grassy bank? Will Mike Ottinger show up to the game? Who will win the game? You can cut the tension with a knife. GO PIONEERS!!!
  22. Last region win...1997...Oakland. First one in this region. Last road win....1999...White County or Coffee County. Last time beating Cumberland County...1990...Nurseyman's Bowl.
  23. I'm back. Need somethin'? Been doing budgets for the last two weeks. GUH!!!! Go Pioneers!!!
