Columbia played awesome defense. Shannon didn't get his chance to score his usual either, Columbia was swarming. They (Columbia) also hit something like 86% from the field. They were absolutely pumped and jumped out early and didn't look back. Giles County didn't play bad at all they were as good as I had heard they were. It will be a revenge match when Columbia travels there.

Susan Davis from Columbia, only an eighth grader, could have started at the high school last year. Behind or beside the plate she is an intense an effective player. She has only begun to shine.

I don't want to take anything away from Williams, but the biggest difference in his play this year and last year is that he can play team ball because he is playing with people he know can play. Last year it looked like he tried to take up the slack for all the others and tried to do to much sometimes. As for the duo's you metioned Duke couldn't guard his armpit. Pointer did better his senior year on defense but that is not his strength. This group out front can handle the ball,all are quick, and play some mean defense and that is exactly what is winning their games. Wadale can't play defense all by himself. Just because the others don't stand out with most points doesn't mean they aren't just as dangerous as Williams when they have to be. They are the definition of team even those off the bench. Giles County had not run into a team that could play defense this well together. Way to go Lions great game to both teams. Eric and Tristan looked great for Giles County. Who is that big guy they have? Just kidding. Had to be the game of the night. It was a pleasure watching both teams play so hard and so well.

The one that people were most concerned with was something like Teachers Beware Wadale Is Here, At Least We Don't Steal, which was explained. The others were nothing - Fred can't even bench the bar, Fred Who? Wadale Who? I don't think Wadale was cussing the refs or he would have gotten a tech. He as well as most say things about calls or things they do wrong. The fans on both sides should have cussed the refs they were bad for both sides. Fred as well as all the starters on the Central team are pretty quiet layed back guys from what I know and have heard from others. Thanks for clearing it up about the stealing sign. Some of the adults on Columbia's side took it a different way. The student section on the visitors side is rather small as it is at most places so maybe that is why they were wrapped around in the corner by the cheerleaders.I will not defend all the actions of the students but maybe they stole the sign because it insulted a player. I don't know. They may have thought they were defending them. That does not mean it was right. Most of the signs were fine just don't make them personal about situations people don't know everything about. I have to say that I am always impressed by the spirit of the L'burg fans and their band plays a big part in the atmosphere in the gym. You would think that the so called award winning band at Central would show some school spirit and support but they are only into their own competition.

I agree with you I thought your guys played exceptionally good. Good defense. SLow pace just like you should against Columbia. Good coaching. I was impressed with them after losing so many starters from last year. They also didn't talk all the trash like your front men from last year they just played hard. Impressive.

Some of the signs the students had at the ball game were really a compliment to the players in the way you felt they were important enough to notice and be worried about. What did the sign mean about AT LEAST WE DON'T STEAL? I didn't see the one about teachers should be afraid but that one (if there was one like it) was in very bad taste. Especially when you don't know all about the situation.I would like a reply to this question. The boys on your team this year may not be as talented yet as last year but they sure do act a lot better.

I can't believe you say Wadale doesn't have much of a supporting cast. The other two players out front are very good players and all three have played together for many years. They help make Wadale what he is. They weren't hitting this past weekend like they usually do outside but both will be playing college ball some where I bet, be it small school or large. All out front are very quick and can jump. Fred with his size and athletic ability just make the team work. One man doesn't make this team even though Wadale is an awesome force, one reason he will have an even better year this year is because of his teammates. This year he doesn't seem to think he has to do everything and they all work better offensively and defensively as a team. He also doesn't have the sole role as PG all three play that position as well as the wing position. That makes a pretty flexible team. Hope Wadale and his team go far this year. They have worked hard.

To make up for talent some teams or players try to make up for it by just playing very physical and sometimes dirty. Some L'burg have resulted to playing like this many times when I have watched them play. It is not becoming to the team, players, or the school. Just play hard and quit trying to take the best out. Reconize the talent you play against respect it and learn from it.

Columbia blew Dickson away. At one point Columbia was ahead by thirty but finished beating them by around twenty. Columbia's defense was tough and they are very quick. Dickson has some very good outside shooters as well as Columbia.

I hope Columbia Central surprises a few. If they don't this year they will in the next few years.

Whitthorne has 8th grader Susan Davis a great all around athlete, 7th grader Laterria Mayberry, and another 8th grader named Precious ?. Good team will be a true asset when they get to Columbia Central. Columbia is coming back!!

When McBee was at S'town I know the Eagles won some of those contests. They were great games. Just because a town is small doesn't mean they can't compete with the bigger schools. I watched Hoosiers haven't you L'burg folks? The statement about the Burg talking crap well if you don't call it that then how about smak. I think last year Fred Sparkman from Ctown had listened to a little too much of it and heard he handled it in his own way which resulted in a whine from the L'burg player and a tech on him . L'town I must admit have loyal fans which is great. But for many many years SOME of their players and fans have sure acted like crap. Especially to the smaller towns around. You also have a new coach from Summertown . Ask him about his games and the attitudes that he got from the Burg.

Does that new Blackman middle school coach help coach the high school also? Well I guess he does when it comes to making sure the high school gets his players. Which reminds me where did all those Blackman middle school players come from? They must have rezoned well for them.

Asking about this the other day I heard that in district 8 aaa that the coaches choose the all district girls by their batting averages.I know hitting is what you must do to score, or you could walk or you could be hit, but if that is all they are looking for then why don't they just let everyone line up and give them three pitches and see who hits the best. Surely there is a little bit more to the game than a batting average. The thing that is the funniest to me is that I also heard that the coaches won't announce these players at the end of the tournament. I guess they are scared of parents. If they chose those truely deserving nothing sould be said. They should look at their skills ofensively and defensively. I do remember that the Childress kid didn't even get it the year they were state runners up. She and her catcher were the top two on the team and I don't think she got it either. The pitcher is in every play and unless she is giving up a lot of runs how do you leave them out. This is all I'm saying about it . Maybe they shouldn't even have these honors if they don't know how to choose them and then don't even regonize them. The other districts do not seem to have these problems but I may be talking to the wrong people. I know of their girls who were chosen and they did a good job in selecting them.

Is Childress getting to pitch any for MTSU? If so how did she do?

mbraiders, I asked some of the players about this and they said that the Spring Hill people were booing them so loud when they came on the field they had no idea the anthem was playing. I asked more than one and they all said the same thing. It was true class when Williams gave the finger to our student section after one of his touchdowns. So both teams did some not so nice things. It is over. Lions won. Quit whinning.

Is there a list of the girls who made ALL-District in AAA this past season? If there is where is it? Or if you know please list them. I never saw them listed in a paper or anywhere. Is it a secret?
