Bobcat, I don't know a thing about the players that you are talking about. However, 3 players in high school can make a huge difference (depending on the players). You would be hard pressed to convince any one that Central would be just as dominant without Young, Jackson, and Helton. Would Maryville be as good without Thompson, Rouse, and McCord? Now if these players are 1st team bench warmers then your comment is understandable.

Mr. Byrd, I would have to agree with the Bobcat fellow. Football, when compared to other sports like baseball, isn't a mental sport. Lockwood is a fine baseball player so I am sure he has the intellect to play a game less mentally challenging. If you don't think so, just ask "the" Lockwood himself.

reddevil1 I know this isn't the topic of the post and very few will care. I just hate to see misinformation repeated as fact. The Halls freshman team last year (soph's now) were 4-3. This is an unimportant piece of trivia I realize, but last year's team was successful. They didn't play Carter or West though

Clinton's freshman staff completely out coaches the confused Red Devil freshman staff. Clinton 28 Halls 0 Blount County All Stars VS Powell: Feeling sorry for the hapless Panthers, GQ decides to play offense without any linemen on the field. Powell still can't stop the bleeding or score with a pencil. Blount County All Stars 50 Powell 0 In a shocker, Central is upset by the Bye. Count it as a loss for the Bobkittens. No, No, No Mr. Weed. I in no way wanted to give the impression that those students went to Central under the rumor of recr---ing. (dare I even type the word). The last time those things were mentioned physical violence was threatened and that scares me to think about.

tennstar, by my count there are 7 athletes on Central's football team who attended Halls Middle School. For whatever reason, they decided to transfer and Knox County's backward policy allowed it. Good luck to Carter and West.

medman, what skills do the Halls kids have? What offensive system would best suit those skills? How does the current offensive system at Halls not take advantage of the player's skills? Please clarify.

My point was why would you call coaches in to interview for a job that is not open. The KNS came out and said Coach Stephens "probably" is the new head coach. I believe they have to "interview" all who apply. But an interview could simply be a form to fill out--as in the case of transfers within Knox County schools. My point was why waste everyone's time with the song and dance. The prinicipals know who they are going to hire, the coaches (as you say) know they are not going to get hired...why bother I agree that being a county commissioner and a teacher is a conflict of interest. Those who are (not just Coach Stephens) say they "take their teacher/coach hats off when they have commission meetings.

Another question floated into my small mind. If the prinicipal for PHS knows he is going to hire Coach Stephens, how fair is it to lead these two guys on. Granted I have never interview for a coaching position much less a head coaching position. However, it seems sad that the PHS administration would lead these guys on. They have no shot! When Coach Duncan left they should have just named Coach Stephens the head man.

Is Coach Stephens going to get the job or not? Some guy says he is a lock and then HTV says he is just the leading candidate. Later in the posts, we say that Coach Stephens will be a county commissioner when he accepts the head coaching position? Coach Stephens being a "lock" has been touted on this board for almost a week. Is the job his or not?
