We are tested (all the coaches) at the beginning with our kids. So thats not a problem. But overall it is great if we lose a game and our kids are clean thats what matters not the winning and losing part.When you have 15 clean kids every night and day then winning will take care of itself. You lose when you send a kid out in the world that can't function without drugs or that can't get a job because he or she can't pass a drug test.

We drug test all of our athletes and cheerleaders at the beginning of each year. Then there are random tests four times throughout the school year. Cost is very low about 7 bucks a test. It has helped our athletic program a lot. Now I know my kids are clean and I have personally seen it get a kid off of drugs and he ended up graduating and becoming an all region player. It may not fit all schools but ours it does.

Was wondering if Dexter may get some of those GREAT basketball players at the new school. By the way he will be an outstanding coach in high school one day.

Do you think new coach Dexter Williams will get any of those kids?

I don't know it is listed on the TSSAA website as wanting boys and girls coaches

His mom Sylvia works in Milan teaching I believe, but they live in the West Carroll district. Wonder if she is gonna move. I would figure he would wait until WC hires a new coach. [Edited by spanarkle on 4-4-03 11:08A]

Remember Moore Countys Pam Baily from the old 6 on 6 days.75-78, She was tough. Also back in the 60's Jearline Limbaugh who was in the top 5 in scoring in the state back then.

You gotta understand that this kid is a three sport star. Hit some of the longest homeruns in little league that I have ever seen. Can play any sport and has a great mother and father. His uncle was a great basketball player for Bethel in the 70's. But Huntingdon is a lock on his talents.

All kinds of talent if Webb stays. Taylor is tough and the other kids we be pretty good next year. If Webb transfers that could make a decision easy for someone looking to come there. Their Jr. High wasn't that great this year and no one is gonna beat Huntingdon for the next 4 years.

Richardson is tough now. She is also a team player. All three girls will be an asset to someones college program.

On another thread they say they haven't opened the job up yet. What is WC gonna look for in their next coach? I know the job is gonna be open I know several people in Adm. jobs at the school but haven't talked to them in a while.

Whats bad is that there are only 5 girls on the list this morning with 4 of them being on the 2 or 3rd team. I have to agree with the beave that the Sun is quite bad. I would like to know who else votes, what papers and radio stations. Maybe they all forgot to vote. How else can this be explained. The more I think about it why do we even call our stats in to the papers. I was one of few that called in season stats for the team leaders and nominations for player of the week. half the time our scores are backwards or wrong. This is something that other coaches may overlook but it irkes me to no end to see a lot of deserving boys and girls get left off of something that could have made a difference somewhere down the road.

Not if they do what our school board did and made all piercing illegal except in the ears.Only when at school though but remember that basketball is a school sponsored event

Heck Carroll Acd had 2 on there last year and those kids avg. about 18 ppg this year

Haven't seen your guys play but I am sure they are worthy of a mention. What I was upset about is that there were no players. NONE from the west TN area except Carter and Fisk. This includes a bunch a good teams... Adamsville, trenton, Martin Westview, Humboldt, JCS, Huntingdon,GREENFIELD-class A runnerup, Mitchell(I think). Clarksburg,USJ, West Carroll and so on.

That was a good one. Iknow I have talked to several coaches this morning about the selections and they couldn't believe it either. A runner up in the state. A team that wins 25 games. A guy that scores 41 of their teams 60 points. None of these guys are on this list. Every year I have one or two guys on the Hon. Mention team and probably had two of the best I have ever had this year and they don't get to put that on their accomplishments now. I am real anxious to see if we have a All West TN team. Maybe not since we have no great players in this region or area.

I agree with you. Sorry to leave off the AA. Did Henry County have anyone on there(AAA). I know they had a Sturdivant kid that was tough. Did our sports writers not vote over here?
