word on the street is that NE has hired a coach and he is the offensive line coach from clarksville hs. I was told this yesterday from a reliable source. Just thought all of you would want to know. I think his last name is johnson.

We were scheduled to play last year but when you all, and i mean your state association moved your weeks up, it conflicted with our region schedule. We are scheduled to play in the jamboree, but you know about jamborees! I did not apply because I felt as though that was not the place for me to be. I would love to be a head coach sometime when the right opportunity comes along. I think in the long run when NE returns to 4A football they will be competitive. They are going to lose some kids to the new HS opening up at West Creek, but the area that is zoned to NE is growing constantly. Perhaps someday I will be an HC.

Mr. Black Night, Being on the waiting list to live on base at Ft.C is a BS rule and everyone knows it. You can call it in a senxe, RECRUITING!!! I do agree with you that Coach Berner and his staff are a class act and I know them quite well. YOu can be on that WAITING list for years and be allowed to go there while you live in the public sector and should be going to a public school. This is just my opinion. Quite frankly i really do not care where they go to school. I have been at Kenwood HS for 11 years now and I am the only one on staff with the FB team that has been the consistence. MY opinion is that there are some in the county that do not realize the benefits of sports in kids lives. I can remember a few years ago when they wanted to cut after school programs. If that happened what would the schools look like.. A GHOST TOWN. I do agree with those of you that think Mont.Co. gets hurt by not having a middle school program. It does not lie with money but with INSURANCE. Perhaps if we had middle school football we could compete yearly with all the other schools. When freshman get to these schools, we have to teach them the basics and that puts us behind. While it is joke that it has taken a long time to hire a coach, lets just hope they hire the right coach who will be there for years to come!

Kelly, it is called A MONKEY AND A FOOTBALL! And some schools do realize that how goes the FB team, sets the tone, but not over there!

As of right now here is who i have for girls: Kenwood, Northwest, Northeast, Rossview, Clarksville, Montgomery Central, Creek Wood, Beech, Merrol Hyde, Hendersonville, MLK, Franklin, Fort Campbell, Christian County, Nashville Christian and a partial Sycamore team, so i guess that is 16 girls Boys teams: same as girls except no MLK boys and add Millington Central and Arlington's boys to this meet, so i guess that makes 16 boys teams. Creek Wood has signed up and i believe they will be at this meet but i am not 100% sure! Coach MAC

Kenwood HS currently has 14 boys teams and 13 girls teams committed to the 5th Annual Early Bird Inv. We are looking for 2 more boys teams and 3 girls teams to finalize our teams. IrishBball, i like what you say... Do not hurt your school sport. The thing i have with AAU is some coaches telling kids it is the only way to market yourself to college coaches. To me if you are good enough college coaches will find you. I just hate that some AAU coaches are telling a kid to put all their eggs in one basket. I will agree not all of them are the same, but let kids make their choice about running track or baseball....PLEASE DO NOT TELL THEM THEY HAVE TO MAKE A CHOICE!

i believe conditioning and weights will help them and perhaps give them a tougher mentality from what i have seen and heard from our BB coaches. But yes you are right on footwork, but then again so does wrestling, don't you think?

Now i do not have a dog in this fight, however i do coach football and track. Over the years many of us who are track coaches have lost athletes to AAU BB because of what AAU coaches tell the kids and getting to the next level. While this may be true for some of those kids, WHY WOULD YOU PUT ALL OF YOUR EGGS IN ONE BASKET? If i recall correctly AAU BB is the reason we have a DEAD PERIOD here in Tennessee and i have been around fopr 14 years. In just upsets me year in and year out what coaches of AAU teams tell the kids. We fight this every year in football off season conditioning in the month of June. My question would be, Who do you coaches think should be playing on the AAU teams and why should kids put all their eggs in one basket? I have seen some do that only to be let down, when had they run track, they would have been 1st or 2nd in the state and coaches would have been crawling all over them. No need to bash me, i am just asking a question. I have fought this for 14 years. Just trying to figure out what AAAU coaches are thinking is all. Mac

Golfendude, Yes it is true that i am interested in moving to east tn, but if it is not the right place for me, i will return to Kenwood for my 12th season. I want to be a Head Coach, but i am biding my time. I am not unhappy here at the Wood, it is just that I have 12 years left to teach and would love to retire in east tn. So that is why i posted what i did. What Clarksville needed to do was to build 2 SUPER HS's instead of spreading around the talent. In the fall of 2009, West Creek will open up, thereby once again spreading the talent pool even more. What would Clarksville be like with 2 super high schools or better yet, OPEN ENROLLMENT like some parts of the state do. Might even have a team in Murfreesboro every year.

I am currently working in Tennessee and looking to move to East Tennessee and was wondering if there are any vacancies for a DL/DC coach, and possibly a track position with it. Have been a DC for 11yrs and a DL coach for 14. My wife and I are looking to move to that part of the state since we now have the EMPTY Nest and we love that par tof the state. In fact we want to retire over there. Please let me know of anything that is open.

Riverrat, In Clarksville Tennessee there will be a new school opening up then called West Creek. Northeast is likely to drop from 5A to 4A and West Creek added to 4A. Also, nobody can be sure of what the numbers will be. I think Clarksville and Rossview are very close to 5A numbers as they exist right now. So all of this on your part is purely speculation.

Any word on when interviews may begin?

Well i sent my resume in and hope i can interview for the job. my wife and i are really looking to try and move to tennessee as we love the area and we have no more children at home. One is at UT so Lenoir City would be very close. Thanks for the info and the wbsites were very helpful. Are you the one who does the teams website? Can you give me any info about the freshman and JV teams. Do they both play on the same night? Is there nobody on the staff that wants the job? I would even considering coming to be the defensive coordinator if it was open. I also coach track and have done so for 11 years.

has this job been posted? I would be interested in the job. I know at the HS i am currently coaching at, we lift during season 2 times a week at 550. off-season we lift 3 times a week at 550 as well. During summer we go from 7-930 with lifting and running to give kids who work the opportunity to work in the afternoons. We have had success with this!

Has this job been posted yet? Who would you need to send your resume to, the principal or the AD? I would be interested in the job. I coach in Clarksville, Tennessee. My wife and I would love to move to that part of the state.

My understanding is the FB takes a backseat to everything over there. Until you get full support from Admin things will not change. You have to have coaches in the bldg. BB is KING over there, whether it is boys or girls. I am told that if it rains, then cheerleaders and VB have the floor, so you have to cancel practice. Just what i have been told. They have a ton of talent over there, but i am also told that the BB coach does not want to share athletes. This is just things i have heard going on over there. Have to get all coaches in that bldg to be on the same page. It will take a coach with lots of patience to get it done. Also they will be losing a ton of kids to the new school West Creek due to open up in the fall of 2009.

i will take clarksville by 21 plus. Played both teams this year and shelbyville cannot hold a candle to the wildcats.
