  1. Summertown is good They have great program but , since we are talking numbers I heard Summertown gets kids from MP ,Lewis Co. , and Lawerenceburg . I dont know if that is true some parents were telling me that at the district tour. I thought they were just hating on Summertown because they kick our butts. But just wanting Summertown to tell other side like thats crazy every kid lives there and parents. I am sure somebody will tell it.

Just other teams making stuff up in a meager attempt to make an excuse for their shortcomings. I assure you that the majority of the team started as 5 year olds in the S'town Dixie baseball league. Several of these players were on the 9 & 10 year old team that went to the Dixie World Series in 1999.

Sure, we have had a kid or two move in, just like any other school - but we have no need to recruit. Why would would we "recruit" from MP, Lewis Co or Lburg ?- heck, those schools can't win with what they have, so why would we want their players ?? Go Eagles .... State Semis in Basketball & State Finals (hopefully Champs !) in Baseball - in the same school year !!

    Eagle Up !!

  2. For those in the Summertown / Lawrenceburg area, Friday's State Championship game between Summertown and Decatur Co. Riverside will be carried LIVE on WDXE-FM 106.7 FM !!! Game time is 11:00 AM - Scott Franks and Keith Chard will be bringing you the action.

  3. why would summertown play this game in Mt. pleasant? Doesn't Lawrence County High School make better sense. I think if they would have played in Lawrenceburg more people from the county would have came and supported them. I know that our county supports all teams even though we are bitter rivals. when it gets to tournament time we want all schools to do well. just wandering.....

From your name, you are obviously from L'burg. Believe it, or not, the world does not revolve around LCHS or Lawrenceburg. As previously stated, the Eagles have played at MP for years and are comfortable with that gym. If fans from other areas of the county want to support the Eagles, we welcome their support, but if you aren't willing to drive to MP, then we really can't use you - we are out to do what is best for our squad, not to make it convenient for others to jump on the bandwagon.

Congrats to the Eagles on another fine post-season run - and THANK YOU to the administrators, coaches, and parents at MP for being such gracious hosts - maybe we can return the favor one of these days.

  4. Great job by the Eagles tonight. Cully's D was not nearly as impressive as some on this thread seemed to think it would be.

The Eagles were able to push the ball up the court and force a more up-tempo game - which obviously Cully was not comfortable with. A rally just before the half made the difference, as Cully would get no closer than 4 the rest of the game and never really recovered from it.

The Eagles were not hitting early, but were still maintaining a lead - and kept Cully from getting the ball in the paint = and forcing them to take outside shots, which, for the most part, were not there. The only bright spot for Cully was Stephens penetrating and hitting 8 foot jumpers - he had 26, but no one else had more than 7.

Congrats to Cully on a great season (29-3) and Congrats to the Eagles - now lets take another one on Thursday and host Sub-State !!

  5. How does a Mr. Basketball not win MVP of his own district... Just throwing that our there... I hear the 6'7'' cat for Collinwood is good... maybe he should have been up for it instead... just wondering...

I won't get into the mud-slinging you are wanting - but this is not the first time it has happened in District 12-A. Both are great players and the keys to their teams' success.

I won't mention names, but in 2006, on the girls side, Miss Basketball came from District 12-A, but was not the District 12-A MVP.

Congrats to both teams for a GREAT GAME - too bad someone had to lose - hopefully they will meet again down the road -

  6. First, congratulations to all of the finalists.

Also, it is obvious that most of you do not know how the Mr./Miss Basketball ballot works. The 3 players named "finalists" are not the only 3 who are voted on.

Essentially, any player in the State is on the ballot. The votes were made by the sportswriters last week.

The voting is already over - the 3 "finalists" are simply the top 3 vote-getters. They just hold off on naming the winner until the State Tournament final.

Once the winner is announced, you can find out who was 4th, 5th, etc. in the voting.

Also, while it is an honor, the Mr./Miss Basketball award is based strictly on votes - as most of the voters have only seen the players in their respective areas. They are basing any other votes on what they have been told, or by reading stats. It is not uncommon for a player to be named Mr./Miss Basketball, but were not named the MVP award in their own district - this happened in the Miss Basketball 2006 for Class A.

Again, congrats to all of the kids -

  7. highly WRONG two hand slam wes long shot lights out unstoppable look forward to the rest of their meetings c'wood probably missed 20 freethrows what's up with the west boy shooting almost from half-court not just once several times several games looks good if it goes in bad if it don't

Wouldn't brag on that as being a slam - looked weak -

  8. Eagles go into the Wood and hang 100 on the Trojans - great job guys -

As expected, it was the Long & Thompson show.

Summertown's Wes Long had 37 points (22 in the 1st half) for the Eagles - 8 3-pointers and 7/7 from the free throw line.

Collinwood's Tyler Thompson had 33 points (18 in the 1st half) - but was only 6/17 from the charity stripe. Overall, the Trojans shot 10 for 30 at the line.

  9. Results?

    What's the remaining schedule?

    Thanks

    Wayne Co 10

Perry Co 3 (I think this is correct)

    Collinwood 4

    Summertown 1

Thursday night, Wayne Co. & Summertown play @ 5:00 PM. The winner gets Collinwood @ 6:45. Collinwod has to be beaten twice. The "if necessary" game is Friday night.

  10. WHere is district 12A playing this year?

    To clarify -

    First round games are at the higher seed - i.e. #1 hosts #8, #2 hosts #7, #3 hosts #6, #4 hosts #5.

Girls play at 7:00 PM on Monday, Jan. 11th, Boys play at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, Jan. 12th.

Then, second round thru the Championship are at Perry County.

    Region 6-A - first round is at higher seed - i.e. D11#1 hosts D12 #4, D11#2 hosts D12 #3, D12#1 hosts D11 #4 and D12#2 hosts D11#3.

Not sure of the dates of who plays when.

Then second round thru championship are at Mt. Pleasant.

  11. i got LEWIS COUNTY by as much as they want..summertown like i hav said in all my posts summertown will not be able 2 stop KYLE T.DEREK D.CHANCE H,CORBIN C,RYAN C.AND ETHAN D. lets show s'town how 2 play a little b-ball

Either a poor prediction, or the panthers didn't want to win by much, as the Eagles take the 8-point win, 60-52.

  12. Just got in from the MTSCA games in Manchester - while I would have selfishly liked it to be in Columbia again (driving distance), but the Coffee County facility is nice - and made for a good day of softball.

In the first game, the AAA North defeated the A/AA by a score of 6 to 1. In the second game, the A/AA defeated the AAA South 6-4. The 2 AAA teams played in the nightcap - I left before it started.

Just wanted to say - GOOD JOB to the MTSCA staff for pulling off another great session. Speaking as one with experience in trying to organize something involving as many people as this does, not everyone will be happy with everything. However, overall, it was a great day of softball and allowed the kids to be recognized for their years of hard work on, and off, the diamond. Keep it up !!!
