  1. Is Morris no.2 in the junior class, or in all of baseball in TN?
  2. Columbia won 6-2 by a combination of pitching. Andrew Luther pitched five, Bobby Bratton, and Dustin Mcdonald pitched one apeice.
  3. two injuries, both in summer league.... A post 19 game....a left feilder and a shortstop are both going after the same pop up. the left feilder dives as the shortstop does too and collide head first with one another. the left feilder ended up having surgery on his cheek. A third baseman was battling the sun in his eyes, a line drive shot was hit at him, and the glare off the BA bleachers didn't help any at all. Tried to catch the ball by seeing only a shadow, the ball hit him square in the nose, breaking it. knocked him out. Eyes and face were swollen up b/c of the force of impact for about two weeks.
  4. yeah he hit two bombs against symrna, and today vs. Lavergne he killed two balls, one left of the foul pole, and ano ther that was robbed by the right feilder. Tons of power.
  5. And i am bettin price didn't pitch, and if he did, it wasn't for very long b/c i doubt coffee co. could get three runs off of price
  6. Bratton is playing, and doing VERY well to have taken the summer off. He has hit 5 or 6 homerooms in our pre-season. Defense is very well too. he has put on weight, but not enough to tell, it's more muscle than anything. He's pitching well too.
  7. Oakland is a good team, but i don't see them being one of the best teams in the state this year, i don't see Lavergne going to state, but faraget...yea
  8. Has nobody found out the score of the game still?
  9. Bryan Cartmale of Columbia Central showed his skill in the state regional and state tournament last year. good kid, great goalie
  10. ej3727..........All sports require money.....lacross isn't necisarily a rich kid sport just b/c it costs 400 dollars for a good set of equipment.......baseball is just as high..and that's far from a rich kids sport....you have a 300 dollar bat..a 150 dollar glove, a 100 dollar pair of cleats...a 100 dollar bag, 40 dollar batting gloves, ....all sports require loads of money if you get involved. Doesn't Centinial have a team? they are public aren't they?
  11. In the scrimmages so far, columbia has shown good defense with little error, which is a great way to start off a pre-season.
  12. a couple of years ago, or even last year i'd agree, but this year i can't say the same.
  13. Those are columbia's 1, 2, and 3. But they have great depth in their bullpin. other than those three, there are freshmen standout, John McMeen, Chris Buie, David Rodrigous, all of these guys would easily be a 1 or 2 in any other program. They also have talent off the hill with chase estes and jonathen pope.
  14. I'd hope Franklin Co's stadium would be a nice one...it used to be a minor league teams. but yes, def a great stadium. the feild itself is nice. And BGA's feild is not nearly as nice anymore. There's something called edging and keeping grass out of the dirt tha they need to look into. Something for them to think about is to invest in a bullpin mound. The visitor side has a lump of clay with a piecie of wood,
  15. Even though i live in the middle of the state, i say memphis is a great place to have the spring fling. They have some of the nicest feilds and the area is big on baseball.

Oh wushy i agree 100% pre season and summer doesn't mean a thing. But after the losses lavergne had, i see them as 2 or 3 in the district.
  17. The best way to increase your speed and stamina is long tossing. Weights help, of coarse, don't geet me wrong, but they don't help near as much as long tossing. Do it all year long, especially in the offseason. Also in the offseason do some free weights and agilities along with running. But Long tossing is the key that helped me the most i think.
  18. that's the only bad thing about anyone signing early for any sport, whether it be soccer or baseball or any other sport. After some, not all, sign they don't seem to give all there heart anymore. Don't get me wrong there are some that still go 110%. I've just seen it first hand when players sign they forget the reason they were playing. Not that this is his case, but yall get what i'm saying.
  19. Your answer to "who else does columbia have to pitch other than bratton" is....well bratton is in the top three people in the rotation, but the lions other two senior pictures, McDonald and Luther are also in the top three. McDonald has been in the starting rotation of pitching since his freshmen year. You also have juniors Buie and Rodriguez to throw as well. well proven staff. you'll hear more out of ALL of these pitchers.

Lavergne is always a great team, but i think this year with the losses of players from last year, it will be a regrouping year, even though they have talent. I see White House finishing above them if they play to there potential. White House had a very good summer team, but lavergne was a bit shakey. Though summer "doesn't matter" both teams played in the summer with there upcoming highschool team. We played both, and whitehouse was a tougher opponent.
  21. District 8AAA is always one of the most competitive districts. Every game in this district is a HUGE game, b/c one game changes it all. Everygame is close, and every year predictions are wrong. The powerhouse each year in the district, usually can't even hang in the district tournaments....as in 2003, no team to be named, but ya know who ya are. We'll just have to wait and see who comes out on top. The best team will prevail. And sqcwjm, i know you weren't trying to downplay Columbia, but here's my point........ sure Columbia lost four talented seniors last year...you forgot to mention Oliver though.....but each year this team loses important players, but Columbia always finds a way to overcome that deficit.
  22. I think it will be Tellahoma and Columbia in the top two positions the district.
  23. Columbia's team will be better than everyone is giving them credit for. They have a pitching staff that proved itself over the summer winning most of it's matchups.
