  1. They could suspend the guys that left the bench if in fact they are reviewing the video. It’s speculation that they are doing so. I think one of the schools has to request a video review in order for it to happen. If they choose to do so, so be it. Allow the kids who weren’t involved or weren’t in attendance to play this week. Then, learn from the whole situation and move on.
  2. Agree. Could make it a good game in Cookeville. I’ll still take West overall. I’ve watched two of their games and they are just fundamentally sound, athletic and solid on defense! They run the football extremely well! Few, if any, weaknesses. Gonna take a great effort to beat them in my opinion.
  3. On a serious note, I'll take West! Who knows what's going to happen in the western half of the bracket? But I'll take West all day long on the eastern side. They've proven to be the best team all year long on that side. Barring any crazy injuries, the West Rebels are my prediction as the 5A State Champion.
  4. I agree with that. They got the wrong one. It was chaos and they messed up.
  5. Got pancaked on the block based on the video. Then grabs the guy’s helmet and rips it off. That’s what happened no matter what his reason for doing so. I can’t get into his head and none of us can about why he chose to do that. Then, nobody can justify what his teammate then did...wiping out the guy after the play was blown dead. Again, that’s what happened. Whether he thinks he is justified or not, that never makes it right to do something that blatant. Obviously, mouthing had been going on for a while that got out of hand. I think people should keep in mind two things too: Shelbyville had just had two consecutive pick 6’s and a fumble recovery on three straight FC possessions. Things had spiraled in a hurry. In addition, Shelbyville had a bunch of young, second teamers in due to the score and having 16 guys at home quarantining, so they had very little experience in handling heated confrontations...just a side note, but certainly zero excuses.
  6. I wouldn’t think so. Not everyone left the bench area and many kids were not involved. Most coaches were doing their best to break it up and calm things down. Rumors have definitely gotten out of control at this point.
  7. Blame? That’s what happened! It wasn’t a blind side block by the way...not even close! It was a blind shot cheap shot after the whistle and after a flag was thrown. Things had completely stopped. Kid clobbers him after all that on a huge knock down blow, which started everything. Do I blame that for starting everything? You bet! It’s not blame to say he hit him way after the play was over. It’s simply the truth.
  8. Can we all just take a step back? There are a lot of accusations and innuendo towards the kids, coaches, players, both programs, and both schools. It’s a bad, unfortunate incident. Emotions got out of control! In sports, unfortunately it happens. Browns and Steelers last year? Kansas State and Kansas in basketball last year? Just two of many examples we’ve had recently. It stinks. But it’s not this general sentiment by going overboard with the blame game. I realize this is typical of society today. Blame everyone and overreact to everything. These coaches, players and refs will all learn from it I’m sure. That’s what happens in life...a few always spoil it for everyone else and then the blame game ramps up with wide-ranging general accusations. Let’s just all take a deep breath. Fair enough?
  9. Yes. All true. One side note: this exact same officiating crew has had at least four fights happen in the last three years. They are always at the center of these things. All laid back guys so I’m not going to be overly critical...but things tend to get out of hand when they do not take control early and often. They threaten to throw flags on players more than they actually do, which gradually can get out of control as the game goes on.
  10. Must have missed that. They very well could be reviewing it. Who knows? My only point is penalizing kids who were quarantining at home would be an overreach, again even if they had to play Columbia shorthanded.
  11. Could happen. Not sure if they are reviewing the film or not. It’s speculation. Not everyone left the bench, so forfeiting would be an overreach. Also, 16 Shelbyville players were at home quarantining. Combined with the kids who did nothing wrong which was several, they wouldn’t deserve to not be able to play, even if it were a bit shorthanded. Same for FC. Penalize the guilty and allow the others to play shorthanded.
  12. He got pinned to the ground on a pancake block. Then, he rips the helmet off and got flagged for it. That’s what happened and what was called. After play was halted from this and it was over, the blindside hit happened. Again, that’s what happened. It’s really not about bias. It’s about how it’s explained. The FC person said the guy was defending his player by blindsiding the kid. Ok, you can say that if you want but he never argued that the whole melee wasn’t started as a result of that “blindside hit”/“defending his teammate” situation. Even the Franklin County radio crew admitted that and explained it that way. It was a horrible chain of events to be sure. Some guilty guys on both sides and they’ll pay the deserved consequence.
  13. I think the refs got it right! They ejected the players from both sides that deserved it. Everyone saw how it started. A flag was properly thrown for the helmet being ripped off and things stopped. Then, out of nowhere, a Franklin County player blindsided the kid. That began the melee! After that, it got crazy.
  14. Just because he’s local and respects the kids and coaches doesn’t mean he’s biased. He does a very fair job talking about Shelbyville. He’s already said he believes nobody will beat Summit with Keaton Wade returning. If he was biased he would not say that in relation to Shelbyville. He also correctly projected that Shelbyville would struggle early for a few logical reasons before they got rolling. He was spot on. Again, no evidence of bias. Just because he thought the Puckett hire was fantastic was not a biased comment. He loved Puckett and had him on his show numerous times when he was at Lake County. Wherever Puckett would have ended up, Mike would have correctly said it would have been a great hire! Good coaches are good coaches regardless.
  15. They had 16 players out due to contact tracing nonsense, including numerous starters...starting QB and starting running back included. They were all not even in attendance obviously. Secondly, they had three ejected and will miss Friday as they deserve. Lastly, they would not turn down a chance to play for a region championship and would still field a very talented team.
  16. That would be a fair thing to do, especially in this wild and crazy year.
  17. Agree. It’s just me thinking outside of the box obviously. In a perfect world, Shelbyville plays Summit, Gallatin plays Hillsboro this week. Glencliff could play Lincoln County, who is dealing with contact tracing issues. Hunters Lane could play Columbia. Problem solved...there you have it. Obviously won’t happen.
  18. Looking out for Hillsboro. That’s it. I realize most people probably aren’t though. If nothing could be done I would say no more. However, it still can. Shelbyville could play Summit as well. Both have meaningless games this Friday.
  19. If I was a Gallatin fan, I’d probably say the exact same thing. Understood.
  20. What does Hillsboro gain by playing Gallatin??!! Are you kidding? It’s a massive difference. A chance to play Page “at home” (likely at Hillwood or Overton but in Nashville) or settling for a semi-long bus ride to play a solid team in Shelbyville. Some years it’s not a big difference. This year, it is huge!! Have you talked to any of the coaches at Hillsboro? Neither have I. Where would we hear them complaining at anyway? It just makes total sense that they would absolutely want the game to happen for all the reasons mentioned.
  21. Yes. They should. Would Summit go for it? Doubt it. They’d fight against it I’m sure. Why have a chance to give up the top seed? But absolutely they should play. I’m sure Shelbyville would be happy to get to play it. They were crushed last week by all the contact tracing junk that shut them down, and it will unfortunately have a lasting emotional impact on those guys who got that opportunity to win a championship ripped away by clueless protocols enforced by clueless “experts”.
  22. You can believe that all you want. Not true. It’s about fairness for Hillsboro. I actually think it’s more about Gallatin not wanting to play it. Guarantee you Hillsboro wants to play it and deserves to get that opportunity to possibly play a home playoff game instead of having to trouble. Does anybody out there believe Gallatin is a better football team than Hillsboro? Does any honest Gallatin fan think they’ve truly earned second place and a home game? Those questions don’t really matter if they just play the game fair and square. We’ll all find out once and for all.
  23. So, now that we sit where we are at and just to finish up this conversation and highlight the main point: In Region 6-5A, Beech has clinched the top seed, barring a more than improbable upset loss to Hillwood. Thus, Hillwood will clinch the 4 seed. Fair enough obviously. Common sense result. The issue is the 2 and 3 seed and it could be corrected even now since we know where we stand. We know that Gallatin will get second with a win over Glencliff but without games against Hillsboro or Hillwood. In my opinion, Hillsboro would easily defeat Gallatin and it probably wouldn’t be close due to all of Gallatin’s issues. I could be wrong obviously, which is why they absolutely should play this game next Friday. It only makes common sense to do so. Why waste the week with meaningless games? The winner is second and the loser is 3rd. Play the game wherever it was originally scheduled to be played at. It’s only fair. Glencliff and Hunters Lane can play each other again or find other opponents. They are already eliminated from playoff contention. But, again, it’s about fairness in Hillsboro’s case. Also, it is not like this can’t be accomplished. We know it can be done after all the craziness we’ve been through. It’s simple. Obviously, Gallatin would probably fight against it because they get a massive benefit by not playing. To be honest, though, there is no good excuse to not play the game. It’s the right thing to do, especially when Hillsboro was not allowed to play for five weeks...not their fault whatsoever. I say play the game...and they still can choose to do so.
  24. I think it takes a subscription to watch unfortunately. I had looked forward to it
