  1. Both Columbia and Franklin County advance to the region, regardless of the outcome tonight. The top 4 teams from each district advance to the regionals with the #1 and #2 teams from each district hosting first round region games. Oakland and Riverdale play for the 7-AAA championship, so these two teams will host Franklin County and Columbia in the region first round. Who plays who will be determined after tonight's games. Hope that helps.
  2. Unbelievable! You lose by 30 and you are complaining about everything. Talking about classless and sore losers! Officiating is a non-issue to say the least in an absolute blowout, so that should not even be brought up. I'd say Shelbyville was not too happy about the way Lawrence County acted after their win during the season and wanted to teach them a lesson last night. I can tell you that Burkey and the Eaglettes are all about class and everyone knows that. When you feel disrespected, though, you are going to play hard all the way to the end regardless of how bad the other team is playing that particular game. In other words, you are not going to let off the gas pedal in that situation. Just admit it...it's embarassing to get spanked like that and you are trying to blame someone else for everything. Shelbyville is the better team by far, especially in tournament time, so just deal with it. Lawrence County has had a great year, but the ride is coming to an end really soon. Trust me, though, you'll want to make the trip from Lawrenceburg to Siegel for the region championship...Shelbyville and Riverdale will be a great game to watch for sure!
  3. With all due respect to the Lawrence County team and its fans, I truly believe the District 8-AAA Championship game tonight was a perfect example of complete overconfidence and lack of respect. After the Lady 'Cats won at Shelbyville, you would have thought they had won the State already by some of the posts on here. I just don't believe the Shelbyville program was shown much respect at all and it played itself out this evening. The Eaglettes just drilled them and it just goes to show that the best teams always rise to the top in tournament time and that is the most important thing with as many games as there are in a season. From my years of watching high school basketball, overconfidence plays a huge factor when it comes to crunch time and Lawrence County felt as if they could just walk out and beat the Eaglettes yet again. Shelbyville has too much pride for that and they are just too tough when it gets to February and March! It's all about peaking at the right time and the Eaglettes do that better than anyone year in and year out. Best of luck to both teams in region play...Lawrence County has a tough game at home against Siegel in the opening round (that could go either way) and then a possible semifinal matchup with the very hot Riverdale Lady Warriors and senior standout Anne Marie Lanning...Shelbyville should have a fairly easy road to the region final since their bracket is much easier. It's looking like a Riverdale-Shelbyville rematch and showdown in the finals, one which I know the Eaglettes will be fired up about. If Riverdale is overconfident like Lawrence County, they will be in trouble. It should be a good one, though, because the loser will likely have to travel to Cleveland for a very difficult matchup in the sectional. The region final could be a game for the ages!
  4. On last Friday night, the Springfield High School football team's actions were absolutely horrific in their game at Shelbyville. It was the worst disciplined team we've ever seen. They had several bad cheap shots and they ran their mouths all night long. They were a horribly coached team in that area and their coach needs to hear these comments. One of their kids tried to completely destroy one of the Shelbyville kids in a very unsportsmanlike manner which definitely could have killed the kid (he was unconscious for over 10 minutes) and their team was celebrating about it when it happened. This should not be tolerated in the TSSAA and we're certainly expecting a suspension once the video is viewed by the proper staff. What a disgrace by this team! Something should be done in a hurry because punishment is the only way to stop this kind of nonsense. "If you don't have character, you don't have anything."
  5. Great job! I'm from East Tennesee. Everything was close by and was organized very well. I hope it stays in the 'Boro forever. I would, however, change the Columbia State site for baseball if I could. I understand MTCS has a brand new ballpark that could host...maybe they can just move the Columbia group to MTCS next year. Other than that minor suggestion, great job TSSAA, MTSU, and the city of Murfreesboro! Awesome week!!
  6. Parker at Cascade may get an interview...he's done a good job there...I would think they will get several good candidates applying for that job...that team should be pretty tough again next year...good young talent and several key returners
  7. Renfro hits solo home run with one out in the top of the 7th for Trinity to tie CA 1-1...then Trinity added three more insurance runs for 4-1 lead Also, Soddy Daisy leads Mt. Juliet 3-0 midway through
  8. 1-0 CA leads Trinity in the top of the 6th
  9. Yes Binns, I got the word today as well. Best of luck to Scott and his future endeavors. That program just got better and better and better while he was there. Some lucky first-year coach will inherit a very good baseball program, one that will consistently be a factor in District 8-AAA year in and year out. GO EAGLES!
  10. Any idea how much tickets will be for each event in the 'Boro? Will we be able to go from one event to another without paying over and over again? I would enjoy bouncing around to several events if that is possible. Thanks.

  12. In my opinion, there is no reason that softball and baseball region tournaments shouldn't be four-team double-elimination tournaments. Here's my thoughts: 1) All the district and state tournaments are double-elimination as they should be. 2) Why make only the region semifinals single-elimination? 3) Why force teams into a make or break game immediately after a double-elimination district tournament and just before an upcoming double-elimination state tournament? 4) It would only take three days to play a double-elimination region tournament, starting on Monday, finishing whenever the TSSAA deemed necessary...probably on Friday with Saturday as a make-up date possibilty. 5) It's only fair to all teams to play double-elimination throughout the tournaments. 6) Get rid of the sectional contest (too much travel involved anyway) and take all 8 Regional winners in each classification to the State Tournament. Fair enough? What does everyone think? Thanks.
