How can you even compare the Babe Ruth championship to High school baseball. Summer ball isn't nearly as competitive as high school ball is. For one not everyone on high school teams play for Babe Ruth... We played Dixie Youth. Plus a lot of high schoolers are playing for traveling teams not Babe Ruth. The competition isn't as good. How can you say they will get their hitting back when they havent had it all year??? My guess is if yall even win the play-in game which yall probably will with the homecooking yall get... You won't make it past Giles or the next one... You might win one but I don't think yall will make it past the district tourney!

Yeah I agree. If they had the best hitting and pitching they would be number one! They obviously dont have good hitting because they lost so many low scoring games. And they didn't score that many runs against anyone really. Their pitching isn't too bad but not the best. If you had the best pitching then you would've won more games. Good pitching equals wins!

Yeah you do only need a couple good pitchers to make it far. They have to deliver when called upon and maybe on short rest too.

It is amazing how they have won with not many people knowing any of the players. Who is their best two or three pitchers??? How did they do in district play? Did these pitchers hit well or anyone else on the team hit really well??? Just fill me in on some of them!

I know one thing though.... no one will have to go to Marshall County except maybe for the play-in game which means their umps can't give the games to Marshall, plus Marshall is really tough at their place compared to on the road!

The coaches will discuss it when they have their meeting. In the past they have always done who had a better record against the higher seeds. Even though they are the top seeds, they would go to the number three seed and see how each team did.

I know him coming in street clothes was confusion. Coach I think was going to give him a day off or some of the day because he has had a rough couple weeks... getting hit and stuff. Coach probably wanted him to be healthy for the tourney. Bobby showed up in street clothes because he thought he wasnt going to play at all, but coach wanted him just in case. This is what I was told from someone at the game. Coach may have put him in the lineup right before the game... This I do not know.

I heard Fairview's catcher had a really bad game. When they get Buttrey back there things will go a lot better. From what I heard Fairview needs to eliminate stupid mistakes because they had a lot of them... throwing balls away and getting thrown out because of not tagging on a fly ball. The players must play smarter to win.

Actually if Giles and Page both win there will only be a 2-way tie at the bottom of the district with lewis at 3-7 and loretto at 3-7! Fairview will host their play-in game no matter what and hopefully they will get in the tourney unlike last year (which was the first time they have failed to get into the district tourney since 1999 I do believe). If there is a three way tie or 2-way tie then they cant go by head to head since Marshall, Lewis, and Loretto and beat each other once a piece. I think they will then go with who beat the top seeds and how many times they beat them... They did this in the past anyways!

The higher seed hosts the game. So it is based on who is the higher seed in the game!

Or maybe they lost b/c he was outpitched which obviously he was! Just because he had a bunch of strikeouts doesn't mean he should've gotten the win. Buttrey just pitched better than him

Yeah we had the vacuum cleaners out on the field sucking up the water. We were the number 2 seed so we didn't mind not playing it but the lower seeds will make every effort to get it in!

The top two teams from the regular season will represent the district in regions... Thats what we almost did anyways my senior year. But we got the tourney in on the Thur, Fri, and Sat. before regions started. I would imagine other districts would do the same!

Actually Fairview won 2-0... the scoreboard score was wrong (my bad... my mom told me wrong... my dad was at the game) However; Bobby Buttrey threw a no-hitter... I think the only two batters to get on were by error and a hit by pitch. There may have been more I am not 100% sure. But from what I heard Bobby had an awesome game!

First it is not the coaching. How could you blame it on the coaches when they have done so well over the years. I don't think they have lost the regular season district title in like 10 years or so. It is not the coaches so the only explanation would be the players are not as good as years past. Next how is the schedule easier than last week. Yall played the last place team in the district and lost.

Wow Marshall has lost several games early this year. Maybe this will be the year they don't win the regular season!

You gotta think Fairview was due since this was the first time they have ever beaten Marshall County! Congrats to the players and Coach Putnam!

I guess the umps were just paying Marshall County back because Marshall gets all the calls at their place. I dont know why they are complaining, except to find excuses for losing a game they probably should have won!

Yes Fairview beat Marshall. I couldnt believe it when I heard it either. The first time ever. I have to congratulate them on that because it was something I was unable to accomplish. Fairview doesnt really have a standout pitcher... Several have pitched extremely well this season. I would say the three they have at the top are all pretty good. Congrats again!

So a rough year is 15-9???? I didnt know that was rough but oh well. Yeah they were down some from 2003 but they were still good last year!

Fairview started the season not playing real well. However, against Waverly they played good. Their problem will probably be errors this year. They had a ton against Creek Wood, but cut them down against Waverly. Just depends on what defense shows up!

Fairview is young and have no height. It isnt there fault they are going to lose to a team whose smallest person is as tall as fairview's tallest....
