  1. I'm not on the inside by any means and I'm not trying to sound like I know it all either. Maybe I'm wrong bout why Molly and Kendall aren't getting time. I'm just not going to get down on the coach or the team by any means right now. I mean its the pre-season. Its time to work out those kinks to have those team issues so that at the end of the year they are worked out and you have came together and over came. Maybe they get it together maybe they don't. Its to early to get down on them thats what I know. Oh yeah, what does it matter what Lewis's parents think? I think Lewis should play as much as anyone and I question a decision that takes her out for the majority of the game. However, it doesn't matter what her parents think. They are not the coaches and should have no affect on the coaching so it doesn't really matter.
  2. Yeah white co. got beat by York the other day. Which will have a great chance of winning their district (the best in state for AA). However, White Co. did manage to beat a very good clarkrange team yesterday that cookeville only beat by 7 a few days earlier. Molly is young and doesn't understand the defense or the offense to well yet. I think she will see some time as she gets more comfortable out there. Hopefully Agee will be able to contribute also. Give them time. Who wants to be at their best in the pre-season? No one, the object is to improve and be playing your best when that tourney comes around. Of course no one likes loosing either though.

    TJ

Easy now TJ. Think bout what you say before you say it. Calling people old hasbeens and all that mess. I mean think about it, you love the game don't you? Can you see yourself playing in a city league or something 10 years from now? If you are I bet you would be hating that kid calling you a washed up nobody.
  4. Oh i'm not trying to blow anything up. Those girls don't get on here anyway. I'm just giving out information. I mean agee, sunday, and mcfagden are all 6 foot or taller. So of course when you look at the volleyball picture then cole who is around 5'9'' would be about 4 inches shorter just like you said, and kind who I said is about 5'8'' would be 4 or 5 inches shorter (like you said). I said Lewis was bout 5'7'' so if you are six foot then you are exactly right, then she would be bout your shoulder. Its irrelevant really, I was just trying to share some info I thought some people might want. I mean its like you said no need to argue though.......from what I can tell we are on the same side and know each other for that matter. Even though i can't put my finger on you yet.
  5. Natalee is about 5'2'' I'd say. Whats amazing is she will affect the outcome of a game more than a 6'1'' guard everytime.
  6. Coach Hess is very underrated. He had to make the change from guys to girls and had a lot of girls quit on him the first couple of years. He has got some girls that have stuck with it now and he has got some talent. I think he will earn his due in the next couple of years. Oh and about the recruiting someone said that its good for the kids if the parents can afford it. Its not hard to afford it, not if the coaches won't you bad enough!
  7. Why do you say that for? Who do you think I'm "stretching" to be so tall? I tell you what, you go up to the high school and measure every girl I mentioned. When you are done and I am off the mark I bet a bill I'm not off by more than an inch and I know for a fact on pretty much all of them.
  8. Assistant Coach Dotson is the "cog" that keeps the juniors together? How do you figure? You heard through the grapevine he was the only reason a few kids didn't quit last year? What grapevine did that come from? He wasn't in white Co. last year he was at UTC. How did he keep some kids from quiting? As far as Dotson being that "cog"......and being able to cool off a situation. If you ask most the guys on the team they will tell you that isn't accurate. He is a cut up, but pushes the limits at times with the players.
  9. Natalee Anderson at white co. to small to play big time college ball but would be an great pick up at the D2 or NAIA level. She would be a steal for a school. Brittany Farley also at White Co. if she continues her good play from this past summer she will be a good pick up for an NAIA or small D2 school. Once again she doesn't have the size but over the past year has really turned it on and would be a good pick up for someone.
  10. I can not stand people who try to blame the entire out come of a game on the officials first off. I mean except for maybe 2 cases in the last 50 years an official has not decided who won a ball game. They are humans they will make mistakes, just as players make mistakes which leads to them getting beat. Not the officials. I've been a player, fan, and coach and have yet to be at a game in any fashion that there was not a bad call. Anyway though, Mcfagden, Haley, and Yates from White Co. just keep them in mind. Cause if they stay with it you will hear about them again.
  11. To be honest I think height is the least of Coach Hess's worries. Sunday, Agee, and Mcfagden are all 6'1'' or maybe a little bigger. Sunday is the fastest post in the district and with more time Agee and Mcfagden especially can contribute. It was said that Cole was short? I dont' see how you figure that. I bet she is the tallest point guard in the district this year. She is bout 5'9''. Lewis is a little shorter 5'7'' probably but I mean she is a 2 guard its not like she is going to be guarding a whole lot of 5'10'' girls (she can if she needs to though, cause i've seen her do it several times). Then there is hacker who is 5'9'' and stronger than anyone in the district and she plays the 2 or 3 and can guard a point guard or a center. I haven't even mentioned either of the Brittany' s who are both around 5'8'' or 9'' but can play inside or out. Now that Anderson girl is a little shorter but is the best player on the team. Hickock is small too (5'2'') but as fast if not faster than anyone else in the district. So Hess could put a line up on the floor that would be pg-5'9'' 2 guard- 5'9'' 3- 5'9'' 4- 6'1'' 5-6'1'' pretty good size
  12. If you go back and look at your post you listed a group of single A players that you said no other class could touch. I never said anything about east Tn. players. But you asked me to list a group that could compete with them, Anfernee Hardaway Memphis Brandon Wharton Overton Edgar Perkins Memphis White Station Trenton Hassell Clarksville High Shawn Marion Clarksville High Ron Slay Pearl Cohn Tony Harris Memphis East C.J. Black Brainard I think that group would do more than compete, not to mention the hundred I didn't add.
  13. I'll tell you this, while everyone is fighting over cookeville, oakland, and riverdale...........watch out cause White County will be the sleeper that sneaks up and gets some people. If the girls will play hard and play like they are capable of then they will be just fine. I mean keep in mind this team beat Oakland once last year (of course oakland was in the semi-finals of state last year also) and has everyone back off that team and a couple of young faces to add into the mix that will make a big difference. I can't wait honestly for the season to start. I'm just glad to see that everyone is counting them out and saying they will be 4th.
  14. Notice I didn't put that Brent was state tourney MVP as a senior. That went to his teammate Kyle Gribble who is very worthy of being on this list as well. Kyle averaged roughly 15pts. 7rbs. 4 assist. and 2 steals. He is one of the greatest all around players I've ever seen. Does it all and does it good. You know a couple of years ago they came out with something like this in the Tennessean. It was like all State Touney teams of 90's or something.
  15. Come on now Campbelle2. That team would dominate the other classes? Thats not hardly true now. When you get to taking the best players from all classes I don't think any team would dominate the others I mean look at you AAA or AA you can make teams that would arguabley be better than the single A team you just put together. Anyway, I think Brent Jolly has to be on the list. First team all state 2 years, Runner up for Mr. Basketball as a junior (Yarborough), won Mr. Basketball as a senior, state tourney mvp as a junior, back to back state titles. He was MVP of King Cotton classic in Arkansas that featured unbelievable talent such as Jo Johnson who went 12th in the draft a couple of years ago. In the championship he hung 30 on who is now Villanova's starting pg. Derrick Snowden. Just thought I would make his case for him.
  16. I noticed where someone made the statement that Qualls was about 6'7''. Thats not accurate I'd say he is more like 6'4' maybe 6'5''. Not even close to 6'7'' though. I don't know how well he can compete this year. With 7aaa boys basketball down in general now days he might be able to contribute in spots but he has about 1 move and is a little weak also. Slatten will try to get him to contribute though. As far as the Selby's quiting.........I don't think they quit cause "Slatten wouldn't let them win games". I'm sure he would have loved for them to stay and win every game if were possible. That sure was not why they quit. Someone said Slatten wanted Sam to be the top scorer..........well if he did or didn't it wouldn't have mattered cause Sam would have led them in scoring regardless. I mean that team was not even closed to balanced. Agee averaged 15 as a junior on a very balanced team.
  17. SoulGlo I assume you meant underrated. I agree with you I feel that Brittany King is very underrated along with natalee. The thing that makes these two so great is how they sacrafice everything for the better of there team and never once put themselves first. If you like Brittany I think you will like the new role she plays this year. Last year she was playing the 4 and only the 4 but thanks to the great improvment (just wait you'll see) of another Brittany look for King to spend some time on the peremiter and show off her all around game.
  18. I would be surprised if jarvis was not back by the time the season got started. I don't' think he has had to miss a lot of school (not that i'm certain) and the last couple of times i've seen him he has looked good. As for the twins and Sims, you look and think they would really help the team and they would no doubt but them not being there might be the best thing. If they were there I think they would be more competitive but still be an average team cause the inside game would still be suffering and keep them from getting very far into the post season. So maybe with these guys out it will help these younger guys by getting them a lot of game time at a young age and build for the future.
  19. Every time a thread like this gets started I have and will continue to say that Natalee Anderson is so underrated it is ridiculous. Plays for White County and even though she is not big nor very fast she controls the game with smart basketball. She gets the job done as good as anyone, she just doesn't put up the big stats cause she bust her butt doing the little things that great teams have to have. I think a true basketball player can dictate the outcome of a game without scoring a lot of points and no one does it better than Natalee.
  20. Here are a few names for you: Ross Jolly- younger brother of Brent and Kelly Corey Crain- pg, who along with Jolly make up a great back court Kurt Clark- younger brother of Amber Clark (Tennessee Tech), he's about 6'1'' and can run and jump if these 3 stay with it you will here of them in bout 3 years no doubt
  21. I don't think anyone can say what the line up is even going to resemble this year. Cause I would be shocked if Slatten had much of an idea at this point. With several key players in football still. I think the line up that may give him the best chance would have Drake playing the 2 guard though. Seeing as how he is probably their best shooter and looks to shoot it more than really run the offense. As Johnson on the other hand looks more to get other guys involved and run the offense. The downfall with Johnson is his size of course (5'7''??) My own personal opinion on the line up.......... Johnson at the 1 Drake at the 2 3 is up in the air Williams at the 4 England at the 5 I say the 3 is in the air cause it will be between Hess, B.A., and Corey Young I think Hess plays smarter basketball than the other two and might be able to handle it better but only time will tell. They would be very small with that line up but I think could really pressure teams because of the speed at the post position more than the guard spots (which will feature average speed at best). When its all over though, expect another below average year, but they are young (no seniors) and can only get better with time.
  22. Don't forget about this district. Oakland was runner-up a couple of years ago and made it to the semi-finals last year in the state tournament. However, if you look at their district record the last couple of years you will notice quite a few losses due to the district being so very talented. The problem for this district is that when the region tourney rolls around you have shelbyville, lawerence co., and coffee co. to deal with. Toughest region in the state no doubt. So you probably won't see two teams from 7AAA in the state tourney like you do with Livington, Upperman, or Jackson. The region is just to tough for two teams out of one district to make it to state.
  23. I don't see how you could say that Trenton Hassell is better than Mercer at this point in his career. I mean Hassell hasn't done anything yet really. He had some good times last year and look good at times but I mean he just hasn't done anything to be compared with Mercer yet though. Why do you say Hassell was why they traded Mercer? I thought it was so they could get a guy like Jalen Rose with as much talent as Mercer but also a good point guard in Travis Best. I wish Hassell the best of luck though, I just don't think he could be ranked higher than Mercer though.
  24. That would be an impossible task to put together an all decade team for the 80's and 90's. I'm kind of young so I don't know much about the 80's but in the 90's I know it would be to hard. Just between Shelbyville and White Co. you couldn't pick an all decade team. Those two teams were national powers year in and year out. With some of the best basketball teams this state has ever seen. That is just two schools, think when you add Oak Ridge and all the other greats. I'm not even trying to name anyone, to many to pick from.
  25. I think Marcus Haislip, who was just recently drafted this year of course, could have a good nba career. If he continues to improve his post moves and adds that with his crazy athletic ability then I think he could be tough at that level. I think his career will be better than Yarboroughs.
