  1. Just to put a stake in this: KC couldn't hack it in DII and moved to DI where they just won their first championship in school history. Congratulations. Just be careful. Too much success and they'll kick you out of DI.
  2. Congratulations beating up on all those poor public schools that have to take all comers and teach all children. You're now the tallest pygmy and the guy with most fingers at the leper colony. And as you say "That is fact not opinion".

Congratulations McCallie. Next year will a little more of a challenge.
  4. A national championship implies two things, 1) it's national and 2) there was a tournament or playoff. In this case neither of the those conditions apply. I find it very strange that huge div AAAAA high schools from Georgia were left off the Rivals list except for Lakeside. There several Georgia players playing in MLS. I doubt if anyone from Rivals has ever seen any of these teams play. Anyway, here's another opinion of which teams were the best this Spring and probably have more of credibility than Rivals. It doesn't matter much one way or other. In two weeks, we'll know which teams are the State champions. I this case, it was the entire state and there will be a playoff. Here's the opinion of the NSCAA: 1 Chattahoochee (Alpharetta, Ga.) 2 16 - 0 - 1 2 Spring Valley (Columbia, S.C.) 1 20 - 0 - 0 3 Grissom (Huntsville, Ala.) 5 25 - 1 - 1 3 Millard West (Omaha, Neb.) 6 15 - 3 - 0 5 Bellarmine Prep (Tacoma, Wash.) 3 14 - 1 - 0 6 Conway (Conway, Ark.) 8 14 - 0 - 0 7 Brentwood (Brentwood, Tenn.) 14 13 - 0 - 0 8 Edmond Memorial (Edmond, Okla.) 11 11 - 0 - 0 9 Starrs Mill (Fayetteville, Ga.) NR 12 - 3 - 0 10 Westfield (Chantilly, Va.) NR 7 - 0 - 1 11 Valley (West Des Moines, Iowa) NR 7 - 1 - 0 12 Marysville-Pilchuck (Marysville, Wash.) 17 12 - 2 - 0 13 Harrison (Kennesaw, Ga.) NR 16 - 1 - 0 14 Northwestern (Rock Hill, S.C.) NR 17 - 2 - 0 14 Omaha South (Omaha, Neb.) 15 14 - 2 - 0 16 Snohomish (Snohomish, Wash.) 10 7 - 2 - 0 17 Catholic (Little Rock, Ark.) NR 12 - 1 - 0 18 Union (Tulsa, Okla.) NR 9 - 1 - 0 19 Cody (Cody, Wyo.) NR 7 - 0 - 1 19 Lakeside (Atlanta, Ga.) NR 16 - 1 - 1 19 South Kitsap (Port Orchard, Wash.) NR 7 - 0 - 1
  5. The Rivals Spring ranking is made up of an extremely small nation - 8 or 9 states.

Sorry, now I remember; siegel has a board of its own, "Best Team in the Galaxy". Or was it "Best Intergalactic Team"? Know it was best something.

Wow! Such hostility and name calling and on a Tennis string. It's like being over at the Soccer or Football strings. Are you sure you don't attend siegel?
  9. The "award winning" website indicates three places that the game is at 6:30 EDT.

OK, good points. The 4-2 score was the result of two matches ending simultaneously. However, I'll go with your scenario: Webb beats MUS 4-2 and then plays McCallie a tough match as the McCallie players are required to use their off hands to make match competitive. The 2009 results are similar as the number one rated players from Argentina and South Africa transfer to McCallie for the Spring tennis season. Sorry, kids from around the world want to play for Voges.
  11. This could be the first time KC wins a state championship in anything. Then again, UT's football team might win be the National Champion this year.
  12. McCallie has graduation early Sunday morning. It's tough playing in DII for a lot of reasons.
  13. This is soccer and at this level I don't think there are any locks. Too many flukey plays, bounces of the ball, etc. I've seen too many 20 to 2 shots on the goal games where the "20" loses by 1. It's just the nature of soccer. Most of the time the demonstrably better team wins but not always.

They won all their games except for MUS which beat them 11-0 - must have played some JV matches. Webb wins 4 early matches to make it to the semis where MUS wins 5-2.

If the score had been 9-0, would that be ad nauseam or just plain ownage?

A school can't offer an athletic or diversity scholarship. Families seeking financial aid have to submit their financial information in Princeton, NJ to determine if they qualify. Academic scholarships are different. But if a student accepts an academic scholarship and his family doesn't meet the financial requirements (they make too much money) the student is prohibited from participating in TSSAA sanctioned sports. Over the years some very good athletes have accepted the McCallie Scholar awards and were unable to particiipate in TSSAA sporrts. He can play lacrosse, participate in crew or be on the swim team. This topic is discussed ad nauseum on the Public/Private board and if you want to hear the arguements over and over and over......, go there.

I'm sure the fact that McCallie offers one of the finest academic programs in the Southeast if not the nation had nothing to do with the McLemore's decision of where to send their son. As I said before, at the Private/Public board you can debate this issue ad nauseum. Oh by the way, do you know what the "n" stands for in Auburn?

MUS draws from 1.3 million metropolitan population. MBA draws from 1.5 million. Webb draws from 700 thousand. Baylor, GPS and McCallie draw from 500 thousand. Baylor and McCallie draw from out of state but you have to pay $35,000 for that privilege. Obviously those aren't the only private schools in those cities but those are the ones that consistently produce competitive tennis teams. There's a whole section of this board for debating Public/Private issues and the arguments go around and around and around.....................................

You're right, none are that good and in all likelihood none will go to jail for fraud or failure to pay child support. I specifically wrote "most dominant" as in I believe they are the most dominant team in a long time. Dominant is a relative term and a combination of an extremely good McCallie team and an off year at MBA, Baylor and MUS makes them " the most dominant DII team in recent memory". As far as next year is concerned, the remaining 3 or 4 starters are very good and a Charlie Ramsey, Tariq or two might be transferring in from somewhere in the US around the world. Who knows, Baylor might bring in the #1 South African or German or both.
  21. Pathetic! Lying about being a ref. Probably tells people he's an IRS agent too.

Eric would shoot me but McCallie by 8-1 and if Webb gets lucky 7-2. That assumes McC plays all three doubles. This is the most dominant DII team in recent memory. You might have to go back to Baylor's national powerhouse team of Tanner, Guerry, Gotfreid (3 future pro players) to find a more dominant team.
  23. Seems most years McCallie is left off these preseason polls and ends up on them at the end of the season.
  24. Which venue did they go with? Mud or jello.
