  1. Compliments of the TSSAA, DIIAAA teams travel the length of the state at least once a year in addition to out of state games, usually against some of the best teams in those states. Must be a bear having to drive 30 minutes to run up and down the field on Central - wind sprints really take it out of a team.
  2. McCallie scored two quick touchdowns in the first quarter and it looked like a blow out in the making. Apparently, McCallie's players thought so. To Powell's credit they came back. I think the turning point was when a Powell player hit BJ in the backfield, stripped the ball and ran for a TD.
  3. "Why does Ooltewah play Central?" Everyone needs at least one breather on their schedule?
  4. I saw the game last year. Powell's quarterback was slicker than pig grease. He was caught in the backfield half a dozen times and ended up with gains. The ball was stripped from BJ by a super heads up play and run for a touchdown. This was all done after McCallie had scored the first two times it had the ball. Powell didn't steal anything. They outplayed McCallie.
  5. A hypothetical which will stay a hypothetical as long as Ooltewah's principal keeps the two best teams in the city from playing each other.
  6. And for the $100 prize (without googling!), who was Huarte's favorite target? Their senior year they lost to an underdog USC team to spoil their perfect season. Remember: no googling!
  7. Put an asterisk by Coleman's stats. He was pulled after first half after three touchdowns and 151 yards. Mercy rule invoked by Briarcrest.
  8. I don't know. I'd feel kind of self conscious playing a team named Holy Innocents. Isn't that like sacrilegious?
  9. Baylor has snuck up on some superior teams the last two years. They upset MUS two years ago compliments of a couple of hundred MUS fumbles. Last year they got to the semi's (who'd they beat?). But they have a very small line and have beat two mediocre teams this year while allowing a fair amount of scoring. I think it could get ugly.
  10. Seriously, how do you know they received offers from UT? Did you intercept the mail or did you eavesdrop on the the calls from Cutcliffe? If they offered 10-15 scholarships to quarterbacks, they must have offered hundreds to linemen. Do you have inside scoop on how many scholarships they offered to running backs before they got Baylor's Cooper to accept? Such insight into the recruitment activities in K'ville is truely remarkable.
  11. It's been demonstrated that whenever McCallie's team travels to MBA, the average IQ of both campuses increases.
  12. This year it's more like the Super 5 and the OK 3. I could name the 3 but I might offend someone and we never want to offend anyone on Coacht.
  13. Two bad calls and some tremendous passing.
  14. How about his solution - quit reading it.
  15. And this was your first post? There's a spell checker available. You'll have to work on the grammar thing somewhere else.
  16. You obviously didn't live here when Red Etter coached and recruited players from not only the Chattanooga area but GA and ALA. Oh wait a minute! Central is a public school. They don't recruit.
  17. After Friday's game, one or two R'dale players might want to nominate a quarterback.
  18. Wonderful come back. Just the right amount of humor and wit. Just a little better and I would swear you're a McCallie graduate.
  19. Several years ago McCallie travelled to Memphis and Niceville Fl in successive weeks. Whether you travel the day of the game or the day before, it's tough. But it comes with the DII territory of local quality teams being unwilling to schedule the better DII programs.
  20. Here are the stats. Except for possession time (This isn't wrestling! R'dale wasn't awarded riding points) it was a very evenly matched game. Team Statistics (Final) Riverdale McCallie FIRST DOWNS................... 21 21 Rushing..................... 21 9 Passing..................... 0 12 Penalty..................... 0 0 Rushing Attempts.............. 55 21 Yards Gained Rushing..... 452 160 Yards Lost Rushing.......... 3 0 NET YARDS RUSHING.... 449 160 NET YARDS PASSING.... 0 273 Passes Attempted............ 3 39 Passes Completed............ 0 20 Had Intercepted............. 1 1 TOTAL OFFENSIVE PLAYS......... 58 60 TOTAL NET YARDS............. 449 433 Average Gain Per Play....... 7.7 7.2 Penalties: Number-Yards....... 5-36 4-56 Number of Punts-Yards......... 2-47 2-96 Average Per Punt............ 23.5 48.0 Punt Returns: Number-Yards.... 0-0 0-0 Kickoff Returns: Number-Yards. 3-13 5-109 Interceptions: Number-Yards... 1-22 1-0 Fumble Returns: Number-Yards.. 0-0 0-0 Miscellaneous Yards........... 0 0 Possession Time............... 28:57 19:03 Third-Down Conversions........ 5 of 9 6 of 11 Fourth-Down Conversions....... 1 of 1 0 of 0 Red-Zone Scores-Chances....... 4-5 4-4 Sacks By: Number-Yards........ 0-0 0-0
  21. Didn't post to demean 88 pounder. McCallie's line is only small by DII standards (not including Baylor). Although BJ took a couple of shots after throws, he was only hurried a couple of times. R'dale's D and O lines were huge but McC seemed to handle their D line OK. R'dale's O line opened holes all night for several big backs.
  22. Baylor has a very small team. They have a rostered player at 88 pounds. The average DII line is over 250.
  23. I think Ralph has said stay away from Coacht under punishment of death.
