  1. I want to add that I believe the 99 team with Kenny Patterson, Matt Ross, Adam Thurman and Andy Musgrave were a strength
  2. Then all you have to do is admit youre wrong. To state that it has been a weakness for twenty years is totally incorrect. The 97 secondary with Bobby Bailey, Nick Derry, Daniel Berry, jonathan Chadwell and Jerry Townsend was a strength of that team. The 95 team with Brian Maupin, Gillum, Seth Thackerand Curtis Larue was a strength. The 00 team with Kenny Patterson, Lee Risden, Matt Price and Frank phillips was a strength. The 01 team with Sean Mounts, Chad Deal, Rob Wright and Frank Phillips was a strength. The 03 team with Zach Lambert, Zele Rogers, Cody Owens and Sean Mounts was a strength. The 96 secondary with Gillum, Caleb Slover , Nick Derry was a strength. Now in your wisdom tell me Im wrong and then name the weak secondaries. I think youve already mentioned 97 which i really, really disagre with
  3. Mav since you are such close friends with the coaching staff and have been priveleged to sit in on meetings where Davey taught the finer points of the spread offense, im curious to know what the current coaching staffs opinion would be on the performance of the secondaries over "the last twenty years"
  4. Its called faulty generalization. Sure there have been years when phase of game was not as good as it should be. The secondary certainly could have played better in some years and was the weak link. But to say it has been consistently the weak link for the last 20 years is an insult to me and the kids i coached. I can name more good secondaries in the last 20 than bad. My opinion...you dont know what you're talking about.
  5. You made a stupid comment that deseved the response you got
  6. Played from 96-2000? That's a long time ago. The 99- 2000 teams were probably weak in the secondary. I know i coached em. But there were some great secondaries not just players before and since. You dont know as much as you think you do
  7. Played from 96-2000? That's a long time ago. The 99- 2000 teams were probably weak in the secondary. I know i coached em. But there were some great secondaries not just players before and since. You got your head up your butt
  8. I take exception to your comment about the secondary being the dagger going back 20 years. May be a weak link lately but ACHS has had some tremendously talented and well coached secondaries in the past. Get your facts straight before you make generalized statements sir.
  9. Coach Sweetland coached at AC for a time
  10. Agree Derek is a good man and good coach
  11. Knew I'd leave someone out...David Sweetland at Alcoa
  12. Just like to say something on a positive note. Several men who have ties to Anderson County are leading and working at programs all over East Tennesse. Justin Price and most of his staff at Campbell Co., Tony Lambert at Oneida, Josh Kerr and some of his staff at Clinton, Mike Wampler at Tennessee High, Caleb Slover at Cocke County and of course Davey and many of his staff. As a former coach I want to say I am proud that I had the opportunity to be on the sidelines with each and everyone of you. Good luck at your respective schools. All good men and excellent coaches.
  13. Central would do well to look at Rodney, the Prices or Derek Rang. All of these guys can coach.
  14. Rodney Ellison is an excellent coach. He has head coaching experience at Wartburg. He did a great job this past season in helping Clinton improve their record. I personally hope he stays at CHS but support him if je wants to ne a head coach again.
  15. Two great teams giving it their all. Good look to West the rest of the way. Very proud to be a Mav.
  16. Amen. Defensive coaches know the way to stop the veer is at the mesh point between QB and RB. Blow it up there.
  17. You guys are gonna give Coach Downs a complex. He's already an insecure guy.
  18. Congratulations to Coach Lambert and the Indians on a great season.
  19. Great job AC coaches and players! Very proud of you. Outstanding halftime adjustments. Overcoming Fox's absence in the second half speaks volumes about this team. Good teams win despite adversity. Good job Davey.
