  1. no offense taken. My reply wasn't directed at you. It was just a comment. Jack Diggs, Larry Kerr and Elwood Pennington all great coaches have Lake City on their resumes.
  2. Lot of good coaches have coached at Lake City.
  3. AC announced this afternnoon the hiring of former Mav and OR coach Jayme Smith as the new head volleyball coach. I think this is a great hire. A proven winner coming to the best volleyball program in the state. AC will not miss a beat, an already great program only gets better.
  4. Who? Who put pressure on the principal? I'm dying to know. Come on if you really know. Say it inquiring minds want to know. Who is the next coach. I heard they are going with someone local.
  5. Edge, you don't want to know the truth, you just want to stir the pot. Didn't think you had the guts to call the principal or AD. I personally like Marsha. I am truly sorry it came to this. But the truth is, I don't think she really wanted to coach anymore and this was an easy way out. Truth is truth. I'm done with this post.
  6. The truth is that the principal didn't support a bad decision by a good coach. It didn't have to come to this. By her own choice she is not coaching anymore. The situation was worked out by the Principal. He confronted a situation head on by giving the parents a choice. Quit bothering the coach about the assistant, to which they agreed and the coach will reinstate the kid. The RIGHT thing to do. The kid wasn't complaining. The kid was caught in the middle. As far as your comment regarding who runs the school, the Principal has several important people to whom he is responsible. He listens to their advice and responds accordingly. I don't think he is the kind of person who would do anything that he felt was not in the best interests of the school or a kid. Just out of curiosity, who applied the outside pressure? After all this is a message board. Or are you just guessing? I would like to know that, if it is TRUE. Let's get it all out there for everyone to see.
  7. Edge. Call the Principal. He'll tell the truth plain and simple. Quit speculating, go to the source. He'll talk to anyone about anything and tell you straight up what he's thinking. I'm thinking you know that and won't like what you'll hear. You just want to vent.
  8. I'm sure the principal would talk to any current or future AC volleyball player or parent and explain how all of this happened. Give him a call. He will be more than happy to talk to you.
  9. You don't condone bad behavior on the part of parents or players. I think it is unfair to punish a kid for their parents behavior. You are correct that coaches not parents run the team. Unhappy parents who have complaints about playing time, position played, practices should be told, "I'm sorry but those are my decisions". If the parent is persistant then you say, "if you are unhappy then take her home". Leave the leaving up to the kid and parent. Give them the choice.
  10. I coached for a long time. During that time I took "hits" from a lot of parents in the form of late night phone calls and angry confrontations after practices and games. Never once during that time did I or one of the coaches I worked with take out their frustrations with an overly demanding or ugly parent on the player. If you are a coach you learn to deal with it, you have to have thick skin. You hurt my feelings by asking me to not be on the volleyball board. I thought volleyball people were nice.
  11. Coach Wade wanted to be a "part-time" head coach. A parent complained to her and Mr Cantrell about an assistant who was in charge of the off-season program. Coach Wade kicked the kid off the team because of her Parents' complaining. The player didn't do anything wrong, the parents did. Before the kid was reinstated the parents met with principal and agreed to quit fussing about the assistant coach. Mr. Cantrell was in agreement with this decision. He told the kid that her parents complaining and her being kicked off the team was not her fault. The parents told Coach Wade themselves they wouldn't complain anymore. Coach Wade still did not want to reinstate the player and she resigned. Moral of the story- don't punish a kid for their parents actions. If the kid is doing something wrong then you deal with the kid.
  12. Congratulations to Tanner Williams TSWA All-State QB in 5A along with Josh Wilson.
  13. Don't make this guy mad. He has a badge under his coaching attire. http://www.volunteertv.com/prepxtra/hea ... 33737.html
  14. Don't think taking law enforcement officials with state juristition is necessary. As an AC person who talked with the deputies from yhe local Sheriffs Dept., I can say they did their very best to get the thing under control. As I said before the officers were very professional and courteous. The cop/coach works for another law enforcement agency (Columbia City??) The problem was the cop/coach who jumped in without identifying himself. If he is gonna wear both hats he needs to wear some kind of identifiable clothing. To the AC staff he was just a loud mouth coach from the other side buttin in on conversation between AC coaches and officials
  15. Much about nothing. A Columbia police officer who also happened to be dressed as a coach inteerjected himself in the middle of a problem. The AC coach did not know he was a police officer. He pulled away from the unidentified officer and the officer had an issue with it. Next time Barney needs to wear a badge or choose to remain a coach The sheriff deputies I talked with about the situation were very professional and courteous. The coach-officer who put himself in the middle was a jerk. He was too emotionally involved and someone needs to tell him to decide what he wants to be. A coach or a cop.
  16. I have always maintained that officiating evens itself out over the course of a game. This game was an exception. The officiating was absolutely atrocious. So many non calls. The game deserves a certain level of competence that was so obviously absent in this crew.
  17. After talking to a knowledgable person, found out that it has been a practice to let local officials call playoff games when the opposing teams use the same officials during the regular season. Huff, IMO is a good official. So is Wilson. Couldn't tell who the others were.
  18. Just got through watching the replay of the AC-Clinton game on the local tv cable channel. Looks like UT Grad was right. I recognized some familiar local officials calling the game. But, knowing those guys as I do, having coached in many games with them as officials, they usually do an outstanding job. I don't think after watching the game on replay that the officials had anything to do with Clinton losing.
  19. Unless something has changed, the officiating crew is usually assigned by TSSAA and they are not officials from the regions or districts of the competing teams. I think the association that officiates Campbell Co. games is one in the same that officiates home games for AC and Clinton. So I don't believe it would be the same officials that officiated any Clinton-Campbell County game. If the rules have changed and local officials are allowed to officiate playoff games that would be something new.
  20. Maybe not the biggest win in AC history, but certainly one of the sweetest. Congrats to Coach Shattuck, Herrell and Dragons on a great season. Thanks AC coaches and players. I owe you big time.
  21. WOW...MM. I was not aware that you were so articulate. I for one am impressed and understood every word you said. I think d123 is really just jealous. Keep up the good posting! GO MAVS! Man.......you have just undone 26 years of hard work. Now people are going to think we're educated. GO MAVS!!!!!
  22. Clinton should win this one by a comfortable margin. OR has a decent D. OR's O can't keep pace with Clinton's O. 35-14 Clinton.
  23. Clinton has their best talent in many years. They should go undefeated. No excuses. Clinton 35 Karns 7
