I've saw, it, you've saw it, we've all saw it. The district tournaments are almost over for a group of four to play. The Consolation game is played before the Championship game. Yeah, yeah, hear me out. Ok, so is the consolation game even "worth" playing anymore? Hmm, let's see. Ok, consider the situation: In the Region Tournament, District A's top four plays District B's top four, in the 1 v 4, 2 v 3 usual format. All of the District A, and the District B teams have played OR have scrimmaged each other and know each other VERY well. So, the night of the consolation games, the better of the 3 or 4th seeded/winners decide, "Hmm, now if we win 3rd place we gotta play in Team (B or A's) Champ's bracket (The overall favorite and way better of the two District Winners), but if we lose we'll get in other Champ's bracket." So, we need to.... Yep, you guessed it, they "throw the game." They fool around, miss easy lay-ups, halfheartedly play D, miss free-throws, commit TO's, etc, etc, etc. So again I ask, is the consolation game "worth playing," anymore? Ok, if it is, and one doesn't want to mess with tradition, then so be it, case closed, move along, move along... BUT, if one wants to make the consolation game IMPORTANT, there is another way to make the WHOLE District Tournament worth fully "competing" in. Yes, this would eliminate a school from participating in the region, but consider it just for a moment. District tournament goes on as played, however, only 3 teams advance to the Region, with District champs getting a bye. Yes, I KNOW IT WON'T HAPPEN. I'm just tired of teams "throwing/tanking/whatever you want to call it," the games. Oh, well, .... happy Regioning...

Same as with the boys, new classification, new, district, new head head coach. Michelle Farley seems to have them headed in the right direction. A well-needed change of atmosphere. How will they play out?

New classification, new district, new head coach. Coach Martin seems to play an aggressive type of up-tempo, in your face D. How will this new team gonna be come tournament time? So far, while playing some A, and some AA schools, not too shabby. 2nd/3rd in the District?

Ah, one more and I'm at triple digits, man!

Now that realignment/reclassification has happened, and as far as boys basketball goes, how does one see this district shaping up, .. later on? FYI: The 2021 season teams are, in no particular order: Bledsoe Co, Jackson Co, York Ins, Monterey, and Sequatchie Co. York, if memory serves, only lost that senior, Monterey lost the Jones kid, I think, IDK anything else... what do you all think?

Can anyone tell me the cut off numbers for determining a Middle/Jr High’s classification? I slightly recalling (years ago) that it was based on the 7th grade population... For example 1-50 Single A 51-100 Double A 101-??? Triple A Is this close, or am I way off?

Based upon what has happened today with the NCAA, and the NBA's decisions, what do you think? Will the T$$AA go ahead and play the tourney games as usual. If so, will they allow fans to attend, or maybe a "choice few?" Will they just cancel? What do you all think? I know of one on coacht.com here, who DOES have some inside knowledge, come on what's up?

This time the Reddest of Devils from Jo Burns leave the basin and travel east and up the mountain to face the WILDEST of Cats from the eastern end of Putnam County, (only in-county undefeated left) of Monterey. The Red Devils are averaging 15 a game while the Wildcats are averaging 40 plus. The ground game AND defense have really come alive so far this year and the QB Jordan Key is involved in alomost EACH scoring play, and is a candidate for Region MVP. So who wins this one and why??? The Bluest of Devils travel up the mountain on I-40 to take on the Wildest of Cats in a intercounty matchup. The 'Devils have a couple of wins, and a couple of L's that were settled by one score. They seem to be finding an identity, according to sources, and plan on using a ground attack mixed in with a little "usual" JC trickery. On the home side, Monterey is coming off a 63-16, old fashioned _ $ $ whopping delivered to the Bobcats of PCHS, where the starters got limited reps, and plenty of rest for this one. No word yet on the Bowman freshman tailback, but , Soberanis, Key, Borgas, and Bowden look to run, pass, and catch their way to 6-0! Who wins this much historic match-up and why???

The Pickett County Bobcats 1-3 (0-1) drive up the mountain tonight to take on the Monterey Wildcats 4-0 (1-0), in a region contest. It's Homecoming on the Mountain, this evening with festivities kicking off at 6:30. The ground game with a little air thrown in here and there has worked well for Head Coach Scott Hughes, this season. The Wildcats have depth in nearly every skill position, and both sides of the line are solid. Early predictions and history seem to indicate a Wildcat victory at anywhere from 39-6, to 45-0. What say ye, what is your pick, and by how much? Who wins this Region 4A matchup?
