  1. Amen Brother!! I WAS THERE, that catch was sweet, only wished he'd scored, though!!!
  2. No that would have been Joe Gore! /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  3. DaCoach, I changed the "stupid" WEST to EAST mistake in my opening post. Must have been all the Cough medicine I drunk that morning....( Ithink that's a line from a Bill Murray movie BTW). Anyway, I hope Heady and Company have them ready, I think that they will, however, if MHS scores first, I think they take it. But if the "G-Men" do (Chris Berman throw out there) they'll score a lot 'cause of the emotional factor setting in. But, that being said, they have really went all out this fall break practices, and so maybe they pull this one out. I still stick to my G-ville 16 MHS 22 score prediction! Good fall break thus far...?
  4. ok, I need those Tiger, and Wildcat fans to chime in here!
  5. The Gordonsville Tigers travel up the I-40 "East" Monterey Mountain this Friday night to take on the Monterey Wildcats @ Medley Field. Currently the visitors are 2-4 overall, and 2-1 in 1A Region 4 Play. The hosts are at 1-5 overall, with a 1-2 region mark. Both teams will be hungry for a win based on last weeks' game results. The Tigers have been "blanked" three times this year, including last Friday while hosting the Yellow Jackets of Trousdale County, 0-35. On the flip side, the Wildcats traveled to "Friendship" Christian, and didn't really offer much of a difference either 7-34. The Tigers have scored 93 points while giving up 191 this season, a little under the dreaded 1:2 ratio. The Wildcats have scored 88 points while giving up 178, a little over the dreaded 1:2 ratio. The Tigers opponents records are 22-16, while the Wildcats are 26-10. With all that being said, "on paper" the visitors may have a long bus ride going home next Friday night. However, it is getting to that point in the season where temperature becomes a factor, and injuries can create some interesting match-ups. So, in this much anticipated Region 4 head-slapper, to the victor go the spoils. Also, currently, the Tigers are third, and the Wildcats are tied with three others for forth place in region play. Well, let's start the discussion boys, (and girls), Which team wants it more and will this be the game that decides the "leader" of the "second" tier in 1A Region 4? I for one am betting on the Wildcats to, if you really want to call it this, UPSET the Gordonsville Tigers @ Medley Field. I really think that the boys will rally late and pull out the victory. Also, Offensive Co-ordinator John Looper will open up the playbook, and try some things this week that the Region has not seen before, while sticking to the base offense. All the while, Coach Billy Heady and company will adjust the Defense to the ground game of the Tigers. Gordonsville Tigers 16 Monterey Wildcats 22 After this week, Co-third place in Class 1A Region 4: Monterey and Gordonsville. Commense au' Postings!!!!! EDIT: Congrats to new head Coach Kyle Childress, Assistant Coach Joey Hoover, and Offensive Co-ordinator Jeff Heiderich on a good "1st" season at Burks Middle School in Monterey. The team went 3-5 overall, but played GREAT each game, congrats to the 8th graders on winning their "last game" in a Panther uniform at home against Cannon County Jr. High.
  6. I don't talk smack myself, BUT, I bleed purple. That being said ..."GO CATS!!!"
  7. Well, I wouldn't go that far, probably by 10. BUT, MHS, will play well!!!
  8. The 'Cats will play well, but FCS will probably win..
  9. I agree. Homer's right: talk of a field House for a LOOOOONNNGGG time. But all to no avail. Not gonna happen. BUT, my blood runneth purple as well. (those of you that know me, that is) and on Saturday's it's orange. I really hope that when / if there is money available though, it will be built. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, ... one has to do with what one has, and he's right again, we can't go out and pay players to come in. And even then, I for one do NOT want that in my alma mater. We're gonna have the players that are from Monterey, and Hanging Limb, the ones that NEED to be on the field. Those are your TRUE Wildcats. I believe in MHS, and always will. On another note: Adam West is taking over the Men's Basketball program here: Good Luck to you A-DAM! I'm behind you 100%, you know me too!!! Homer: I think we'll see "your" son in the spotlight Friday night and he'll do fine!
  10. ^ If the above is true, then I stand corrected. HOWEVER, in Basketball they are 2A.
  11. The Yellow Jackets of Trousdale County travel to the Monterey Wildcats Mountain Friday night @ Medley field in a region game. They bring their potent offense along with their not too bad defense. They have outscored their opponents 138 - 17 this year with wins OVER 2A Macon Co, LA, and Smith Co., again, only giving up 17 points. On the flip side, the MHS Wildcats are improving each week playing, so far, only one 1A opponent. They have been outscored 106 - 71, again playing all but one 2A teams. Their running game has stepped up, and hopefully their passing game will catch up as well. SO, without further yappin, do the wildcats have a chance against the jackets? What say ye fans...? OR are or will they look to next week and look past the Wildcats??? I say that it IS possible for the Wildcats to win, however, it WILL take their BEST effort to do so, what do you think? Commence au' postings....
  12. So the battle on the Mountain begins Friday night @ York's ("being worked on') field. The Wildcats are fresh off a 34-6 beating given to the Mt. Juliet Christian Saints. The offense looked very well, and the improvement in the "not putting the ball on the ground" situation was a lift. However, key positioning changes could tell the story in three days. On the flip side, YAI has whipped up on both Coalfield and Cannon Co. only giving up a total of seven points all year. Are they still running their spread O like their Jr. High team? If so, MHS had better play sound football on D. So let's all discuss and try to predict final outcomes. I'll go first. MHS 16 YAI 30 Commense au Postings!!!...
  13. ^ I agree to that, AMEN. Hopefully, MHS gets off the shnide!
  14. Kids are gonna be Kids, BUT trash talking IS an issue, BUT ..... to each his own. WWJD?
  15. Ok, after both teams lost last week, who is gonna get their 1st win of this season? In the past MJC usually DOES NOT fair too well against the 'Cats. MHS struggled early last week against the Baxter Bees, turnovers was/were the early story, but they played well the second half. I haven't seen the Saints play yet... so, who's next to post, how's the Saints? Any predictions? Can the "cats hang on to the ball, I say: absolutely yes. I think MJC 10 MHS 38, what say ye Saint and WILDCAT fans? Chime in here and let's get the posting started.....?
  16. Being a loyal MHS fan, AND teaching at their feeder school, I say MHS 24 Harriman 18. WHAT SAY YE PEOPLE....?
  17. I agree with the above statements, BUT as in another thread that YOURS truly started, Who's Monterey High gonna get for their new Head Coach?
  18. Rumors are abounding that Mr. Covington will no longer be the 'Cats head Men's basketball coach next year. Any truth to this rumor? Come on you Upper Cumberland BBall fans, 'peak up.......
  19. Well, I tried......... Sunbright won, BTW.
  20. OK, so far I've watched two games by the 'Cats from the Mountain, and they have not impressed me much... That being said, I really look at tonight's game and say to myself, "Self, can MHS get a win if they play up to their utmost potential, or will they start off the year going 0 and 3?" I, personally, have to attend to another engagement this evening OR I'd drive over there. I really think that if this group of boys, who have played together now since they were together at Burks Middle in Monterey, go out there and play smart FUN-damental basketball, control the tempo, crash the boards, and play heads-up, in your face defense, they will drive back home this evening with their 1st win of the season. BUT we all know the problems that they face; a total overall lack of height, and shooting accuracy. Defense is the key that they must improve upon to be a factor in their district. Yeah, we all know about Celina High, and Hermitage Spgs consolidation, and also the Pick Co. bunch, BUT after that this district is wide OPEN, IF and only if, you come to play each night. SO, (see above) who wins this game this evening, I say Monterey in a sqeaker by 5. 53-48. What say ye, come on you fans on the Mountain, and those of you from the 'bright, let er rip, (tater chip)....
  21. Well it's like this, there needs to be a coup 'de tat. In other words, Tampa Bay Bucs head coach (in their 1st year, they were 0-14) when asked about his team's execution, said, "I'm all for it!" Sadly, it's time for a change of the guard, on the mountain, Anyone agree?
  22. If they play like they did last Friday night vs. H20, they should be fine. The defense was good against that spread O. I think that Cornersville will be tough, based on everything I've read here @ coachT.com. That said, MHS 24 CHS 21, in a late drive by the Wilcats led by Jacob Phillips, and Cody Cantrell.
  23. OK, 1st off I'm not complaining, but how does one go about trying to get an administrator to make a change in the head coach's position in HS basketball? Again, I'm not being mean or anything, but when after a number of years, and your program does not increase in wins, why doesn't an admin, take the hint and make a change? The coach as a person is great, but is not getting the job done, does anyone have any ideas on how this should be accomplished...? Again, I'm not one to trash talk, never will, but it's high time something is done, if you want to PM me, please do, otherwise anyone have any ideas?
