  1. not to talk crap about this ward kid, but isnt it pretty sad that vandy is recruiting against the likes of centre, davidson, eastern ky, etc. maybe that is why their program stinks and always will. anyway, this wasnt intended to degrade the guy...just vanderbilt. good for him though. wherever he goes he will probly get a free education. also, my vote for RB definitely goes to holbert. if youve ever seen him run, i think you'll agree. you do not want to step in front of him. he'll put the fear of God in you. darius barnes is a great back too. unfortunately undersized and probably too many issues outside of football to ever realize his potential. 2. hey guys, im finally remembering to check this site more. it always seems to slip my mind. anyway, i just read on dyestat where the jesse owens course was changed some from last year. maybe those hoover times are legit, but the times from last year were outrageous. peace
  3. don't really know all that much about a/aa but i think that david hughes has to be the clear-cut favorite. after him there's ryan bailey from mlk, estopinol from fra, and maybe patrick hall from chat. christian.
  4. i've never run the course but from everything i've heard that course is way short. hoover is one of the best teams in the south, but those times would probably qualify it for a top 5 national ranking. last year ty rose from houston ran a 15:14 5k or something close to that and he was a 15:45-16:00 guy on steeplechase (from what i remember). also ty stanfield's dad told me that it was quite a bit short of 5k (ty won the jesse owens meet last year).

    TN Classic?

    whocares, who are you?
  6. clint, calm down buddy. this whole thing is obviously a joke.i dont think trackandcross was too serious if you notice the "LOL" at the end and the joke about it being 2 or 3 laps. all i know is someone who runs a 4:02 mile could run about 14:00 on steeplechase. and i do know one other thing. silveri would be hard pressed to break 6 min. for a mile. 7. i will definitely be anxious to see how mcminn does, especially after some completely unprovoked personal things that they said to me. those boys sure get defensive if you disagree with them too. and they sure dont hesitate to let you know what they think they can do, whether you ask or not...
  8. this is all subjective because it depends on which level we're talking, and there are no set times you must run to get a scholarship. depends on the improvement shown and a million other variables. also, depends on who you beat and where you place at big meets like state and footlocker. in general though, if youre looking to go division 1, and get money, you would probably need to run around 9:30, 4:25 and sub 2 min. track times will be much more relevent to coaches than cross times for obvious reasons. this is just my two cents...take it for what its worth.
  9. and he did it with a 5:40 first mile split. averaged 5:05 the next 2 miles with a 5:00 closing mile. what a dominating performance! especially over the returning 3rd place finisher from last year. way to go bumbi! by the way, BA was missing a few guys at midstate. there are a few who dont run the tompkins farm course because of the stress it puts on them...causes injuries or just takes a week or 2 to recover from, so coaches wisely hold them out. 10. i know goodyproctor was joking but david varn does have a good bit of talent, but like caeagle said, the xc team is probably better off without him. madman, do you go to mccallie? are you talking about taylor smith? honestly, if i had to put money on it, having raced both guys, i would bet on chiulli over dusty. they are both footlocker national caliber guys and on a whole different level than anyone else in the state. i think bumbi is just below them on a level by himself. i think he showed that this weekend at utc. he is obviously not where chiulli and dusty are, but i think he is definitely in a class by himself with the exception of those guys. then i think there are the rest in the state...taylor smith (mccallie), nathan mulherin (mba), etc. classic should be a great meet this weekend as everyone i have just mentioned will be there, including the much anticipated dusty-chiulli showdown. should answer all questions at this point in the season, but alot will change by november. i will be back home in town to watch it. hope to see yall there. good luck to everyone.
  11. bumbalough is undoubtedly a phenom. he is unbelievable. he has never run a 3200 over 10 min. his first one ever was 9:59. he never ran a 9:45 but definitely would have. at the kenwood inv. he was a rabbit for me and dropped out after 6 laps. unfortuantely i got seriously ill the night before and was up all night throwing up which led to my DNF and ultimately the demise of my season...never did recover from it. but had bumbi continued, he would have run close to 9:40. anyway, this kid could be the best runner tennessee has ever seen. last year i ran 17:10 i think at preconference and ended up at 16:16 at the end of the year. with kenwoodrun's estimated 75 second conversion that would put me at 15:00 steeplechase shape, which i definitely think i was. seeing how close bumbi was to my time, that sets him up to run pretty low 15's, which i think he will. i'm just glad we've gotten to be such good friends. hes the closest thing to a little brother i know. and as good a runner he is, he is a much cooler person. very nice, humble, etc. oh, and by the way, bumbi ran 9:38 at state. 12. Well, BA just finished its XC Camp in Fall Creek Falls, and it's going to be quite a showdown at state. I know McCallie returns their whole team and is the favorite deservedly so, and BA also loses 4 of the top 7, but they are incredibly talented although young. Good bit of depth too. Bumbi will give Chiulli a run for his money, I think. I would love to tell what they all did at camp, but let's just say they've done their summer work. [Edited by BPolley on 8-14-02 5:44P]
  13. Broach and Queener probably couldn't break 6 for 1 mile on the track. They have pr's well over 20 min. on Steeplechase. Bumbalough very well may be the best sophmore in the South. It will be interesting to see where he stacks up at Footlocker this year and next year in track. My guess is he will end up one of the top 10-15 sophmore two milers in the nation, and he will keep getting better. I just hope he'll remember Samford when he's picking a college in 3 years. He'll be able to go anywhere he wants. I wouldn't be surprised to see him qualify for Footlocker Nats twice. Who are you coulibaly? [Edited by BPolley on 8-14-02 5:44P]

Haha! Glad to see me go, kenwoodrun? Well, I just heard about this site, so I thought I'd throw in my two cents. No big secret but BA should take the Midstate meets at Gallatin this year. BA loses 4 of the top 7, but honestly should not be much worse than last years state runner-up team with the emergence of Bumbalough and Ross Robinson, and some other young guys. I just wish I could stick around for a few more years. There are some awesome things going on in BA XC and Track. They should take the Div. 2 Region meet as well and a high placing at state. As nasty as the Tompkin's Farm course is, it was good to me and I had a bit of success there, but it's time to move on and let my boy, Bumbi take over. I hope everyone has a great season and pound those miles this summer. Take it easy. -Brad Polley [Edited by BPolley on 7/31/02 10:17P]
