  1. It's just about peeking at the right time... When we won it in 2004 we lost a majority of our games towards the first of the season. Playing a very good strength of schedule against teams like Knox Catholic,Knox Bearden,Tennesee High and Science Hill and even Happy Valley had a very strong team as well. We just hit a good stretch towards the end of the season winning like 12 games strait and luckily a good Greenfield and Christ Presbeterian team was knocked out early to give us some help in advancing to the state championship. The Temple game was a very tough matchup just for the fact we had already faced them once in the regular season and knew we would have our hands full. But coach Ensor and staff figured out a good game plan defensively running an "I zone" on their 3 key players and try to make their post players control the game and guard's force bad shots which we had them do towards the middle of the 3rd and early in the 4th. But all in all we had alot of luck on our side down the stretch of those last 8 or 9 games. 3 or 4 of them coming off buzzards beaters. And the fact we just got hot at the right time and got a very good draw in the first round. We was very fortunate tho to be put in the position we was in like I said surviving all the scares we had down the stretch we stuck it out and things just fell into place at the right time.
  2. The coaches and athletes part is your opinion I would beg to differ tho. They put alot of time and work in for our program... And if I am not mistaken king the last time I was in sonny smith gymnasium I could have swore I saw a gold ball around there somewhere ohh wait nevermind that was Snavely Gymnasium /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  3. With Cloudland it's not so much as the pace of the game it's when coach smith decides to play that pace he may come out for 4 or 5 possesions strait and flat out run the ball down opponents throat and then the next 5 posessions slow it down and make about 8 or 9 passes before ever speeding it back up again. I think that is what seperates Cloudland from alot of teams is you hardly ever see them take a bad shot very rarely are they impatient on the offensive end of the floor they know their roles to a tee and are very dangerous at their style of play. But I think tommorrow nights game will be no less then a 4 or 5 point game both teams will be ready to play with a substate birth being on the line.
  4. I agree like I said in my previous post Hampton played a great basketball game defensively made plays when they hade to shot good from the freethrow line all night and they did what they had to do to win period. But what people didnt realize was is at times she is our best ball handler and like I said before her number of minutes was limited the other night therefore it's hard to win a basketball game down the stretch when your senior leader can barely hold her head up and is barely even 50 percent healthy. And if anyone watches the film noticed how many times she took the ball to the basket or even tried to look for her shot. If you asked me I would say she probably shot the ball 7 times. But I think our main key focus the next time will be better decisions against the press and deffinitely we will have to have some younger kids step in and have a good game thats what will decide the outcome for us not only tonight but later down the road.
  5. I do agree with LORD VADER... But I dont think that selfishness is much of the problem it's more of a few players trying to make the hard plays instead of the simple plays. Everyone knows in the conference that Hamptons offense must go around Justin Bentley thats a fact. But I think at times down the stretch someone will have to step up in their offense besides Bentley and so open up a better opportunity of getting him the basketball in better position of scoring. And it's like I was saying a while back the districts honestly dont mean a thing. Region 2 is probably one of the top 5 weakest regions in the state and Hampton,University High and Cloudland will all three be back come next week. The major factor I see between these two teams is who plays the winner of Hancock County vs Unaka if Hampton was to win tonight then whoever plays the winner of that game might have a little easier task but it is tournament time so you cant really predict these things or how one of those two teams might play. But I do know that between those 3 teams they are all 3 capable of beating each other and I think that they are all evenly balanced. Having said that I hope Unaka will come ready to play tonight and make this an interesting basketball game against the dogs and put up a good fight like they did against University High in the first half if they can learn to play a complete game they would be just fine. But good luck to all of the teams tonight and be safe driving over.
  6. Hampton probably played the best game they have played all year the other night. They stepped up big in the 4th quarter and my hats off to the dogs they played a very very good game.. Even though we was on the losing side I believe you will see a big difference if the two matchup again. Because for 1. it's obvious with Brittany Scott playing with the fluthe other night her minutes was a big factor in the game I wouldn't be surprised if she only took 7 to 8 shots in the entire basketball game. We had to keep taking her out just so we could try to get her fever to go down by putting an ice pack on her head and face. I have alot of respect for any player going out there and doing what she did the other night as sick as she was though and trying to help her team win a ball game under those conditions. And 3. You are not going to beat anybody turning the ball over 27 times in a basketball game I dont care who you are. But it's like I said it was a great game that was played the other night between both teams could not have been any better. But in the end it came down to taking care of the basketball and which team was going to make the fewest mistakes and we was that team down the stretch. I mean we had 2 or 3 chances down the stretch where we needed stops and it was either we couldn't get them or when we did we would turn the ball right back over and it really hurt us. But the good thing is both these 2 teams could be seeing each other once again if everything pans out in both teams favor and I believe you will see once again a great basketball game not only between 2 good teams but between 2 good coaches.
  7. Mam or Sir think of the statement you just made. There is no coach going to take a kids playing time away under the circumstances of what elementary or middle school he went to period. Look at it in a coaches perspective. A coach is going to put the 5 on the floor that he feels is going to give them the best chance of winning a basketball game and what is working the best for the team not one individual player or the way a parent see's the game from the stands. Most of these coaches are around your kids for atleast 3 or 4 hours a day 5 or 6 days out of the week trying to make them better kids inside the classroom and on the basketball floor. Try to put yourself in there shoes and take the responsiblity of working with 21 to 22 kids not only on the floor but off the floor and in the classroom. They are trying to prepare these younger kids the best way they can and there is no coach going to jeprodize the team by playing favorites he is going to put the line up on the floor that he feels his team has the better chance of competing and winning basketball games not what school a player comes from. Now leave the coaching to the guys on the sidelines that's around them on the court and that know's your kids capabilities and get a different view of not just your kid but look at whats best for the team not me as an individual.
  8. There program should be strong the next couple of years. They have 4 starters returning and have a very good freshman and sophmore group coming up with a head coach who will get alot of dicipline out of these guys and help them get better. Should be very interesting to see how the WVC turns out this year there are 3 teams who are pretty evenly balanced Cloudland,Unaka,Hampton and all three teams are very well coached so I would say you will see alot of good basketball this year
  9. I know to many people on here does not look at most teams from the lower part of East Tennessee but Unaka High's girls will be able to match up with any single A team around the state. They lose 1 starter and return 8 out of there 9 players with a dangerous freshman class coming in. Natalie Johnson- Sophmore 5'5 Kaylei Elsea- Junior 5'6 Adrea Lewis- Junior 5'5 Kayla Winters - Junior 6'0 Brittany Scott- Senior 6'0 Rachael Lowe- Junior 6'1 Chelsea Anderson- Junior 5'8 Danielle Jones- Sophmore 5'8 Alley Nideffer- Sophmore 5'6 Not to mention this is the same team that is in the substate right now and not that summer camps mean anything but had RBS down by 15 at halftime of there own summer camp. And with the added depth of good freshman they have coming in dont be surprised if there are in the semi finals of the state tournament next year.
  10. its people like you that make everyone in north east tenn. hate hampton
  11. dont blame it all on snavely. its hard to coach kids that dont care
  12. I guess whoever was guarding #21 from Cosby decided that playing defense was optional.
  13. Come on Rangers! I know you can do this! Unaka hasn't beat Cloudland in 25 years! IT ENDS TONIGHT!!!
  14. Memphis has great fields to play on but i think that if they would hold the spring filing in the tri cities or just kingsport or sullivan county everone would be impressed with the fields and the location as in the atmosphere.....
  15. I believe that everyone thought that the Unaka Rangers would have a bad year because the loss of 2 unreplaceable stars Rusty Chambers and Chand Lewis. But it looks like the Rangers are pulling throught after beating Sullivan North the number 1 team in AA in east TN by Tee Blevins on Monday Night. On tuesday Randy Swearingin threw a NO NO against North Greene to clinch a tie for the Conference title. And Tonight after Sullivan East Beating the Rangers 2 Times this year Daniel Macinturff threw the third great game in consecutive days between the Ranger Powerhouse pitching. The reason the Rangers are begining to play good D is that they have had their middle infield witch are both Soph's in Andrew Church at @nd and Michael Carpenter and Short. They both were released to play in Varsity action on monday and with everyone healthy they have beat 2 of the premere teams in NE TN. And also you can't leave out proud the best single A Center Fielder in the State of TN. Tyler McCann has been making spectacular plays and Josh Lowe is hitting the ball and playing good D. AAron Greer is becoming an impact player for the Rangers as he takes some at 3rd and is Dh most of the other times. Travis AkA the Peperoni Pounder is taking in at 3rd and 1st and hitting solid for the Rangers. Everyone on the Rangers team is contributing in any way they can even if it is just to pitchrun or even to be the courtesy runner. Without everyone on the team doing their part they wouldn't be doing as well as they are now. Look for the Rangers to keed improving throughout the year as always and make an impression in the post-season.......Good luck to the Rangers this weekend as they travel to Kentucky for a tourney...... Do us proud Rangers.......
  16. I remember at my school there was parent of a player who always came on here and degraded many players from other teams to glorify the exploits of his kid. Seemed it didn't matter if he sacrificed the program, players, coaches, facalty, community, or the concept of TEAM in doing it.This is one of many examples of why CoachT is bad for high school sports. I know its fun, and I know there are positives to it, but I know there are more stories out here like this, lets hear it!!!
  17. If you are to high school sports what you claim to be, you will let this stand: Is CoachT detramental to high school sports? Any beer drinking, disgruntled, angry parent/fan can voice their opinions on subjects they have no idea, or buisness posting on. You cannot tell a parent from a player from a coach; or heaven forbid a ref.
  18. Unaka came out and didn't know what hit em'! They got beat in every part of the game. The score made it look alot closer than it really was. 54-44 was the final but Happy Valley was up by 23 early in the 4th quarter.
  19. Are you talking about throwing Alex carroll around kinda like he threw your shots around in the jamboree?!? Or maybe that dunk on that one ######! Central don't have a state title team. They stink and they all need hair cuts!
  20. thumb Andrew Bowman Sr. 6'4" , John Bulla Sr. 6'4" , Alex Carroll Sr. 6'7" , Jordy Harrison Sr. 6'4" , Ryan Toney Sr. 6'1" , Todd Caldwell , Chris Rutledge, Drew Davis, any takers? Warriors looking to scalp. thumb
  21. you guys have a good squad and just need to be happy with any win u can get the only 2 who do anything is ingram and honeycutt so good luck
  22. we read earlier how lander 33 said hv had nothing, well last night hv rolled by the landers 89 to 37 Alex Carroll had 3 dunks two one right after the other so lander 33 or should i say possum shut up !!!!!!
  23. Big Al from Happy Valley will be in the dunk contest again this year and from wat i hear he is looking to take it for the second time. as far as i know the rumor of him leaving was false just a joke. so look out for your rims u little pus over in hampton.
  24. Kate Powell injured herself and the seriousness of this injury is unknown. She will find out this week. Is this a Kate loss and a warrior gain? Who knows when she will be back. But all I know is that the lady warriors have been crying ever since Thursday night. What do you think? Can they stand on their own 2 feet? I think they can, but who knows, I just hope she will be A- Okay.
