  1. Held my tongue long enough. No, Lincoln County did not end it's regular season as a winning season. Yes, we were 5-5. HOWEVER, if you look at our schedule we have one of the toughest in the state considering the caliber of teams (and their ranking) we played the first half of the season. Am VERY proud of our fine, young men though for not hanging their heads, as many teams would do, and winning their last five games. No, we do NOT have any D-I prospects, BUT we do have an excellent bunch of players who suit up and give it their all every week. I do not believe that it will be a blow out when the clock ends, but I do believe it will be a good game. I hope it is a fun, exciting, injury free game with excellent sportsmanship displayed on both sides of the ball. With that being said.......GO FALCLONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Very well said! :thumb:

  2. Well, I don't know much about Soddy, but I gotta say that the Falcons have been playing classic high school football. They've matured during the season to become a team that plays with more heart than any Lincoln County team in recent memory - they don't have any really big guys or guys that are shoo-ins for D-I scholarships, but they play with a team spirit that is truly impressive. Regardless of the outcome, the Falcon players will remember this season with a smile for the rest of their lives!

  3. The following is also from the American Center for Law & Justice website. There is also a lot more information on this site -- too much to list here. I suggest everyone check it out for yourself at www.aclj.org

"In the Santa Fe case, a case involving prayer at football games that I argued a couple years ago, the Supreme Court did say that the school was too involved in the prayer activity, even in Justice Stevens' opinion. This is not overly helpful in any regard, except for one: the Supreme Court said that students have the right to pray before, during, and after the school day. And there's nothing in the Constitution, or the Supreme Court precedent, that denies that. So there are constitutional rights, even in the Santa Fe case, allowing students to pray collectively as a group. Students are allowed if they so choose-it's up to them."

Yes. My original response to your post was correct. :thumb:

  4. What do you think? I think LC has finally got the kinks worked out on both sides of the ball and it sounds like WC is still having problems. The Falcons defense has come together and are playing smash mouth football. The offense has become more balanced. Looking forward to this match up.

    GO FALCONS!!!

I think you're right - the Falcons should take this one, as long as they don't regress.

  5. The prayer over the loudspeaker at the SDHS games is ALWAYS by a STUDENT. It is never by a a principal or other school administrator.

Prayers can be led by STUDENTS at any public school in the country. Prayers can also be said at public school graduations as long as the senior student body votes in the majority for this to happen.

    ....

No. See this Supreme Court case.

  6. I don't think you can say the winner of the Ttown/LCHS game will be number 1. If Ttown wins then that statement is correct. If LCHS wins then it is a little more complicated. LCHS could indeed win the district with a win but with all the tie breakers it still has a lot to do with some other schools and wether they win or lose. If you go to the TSSAA website and check out the tie breaker you will see that LCHS would need for a team that Columbia beat to finish with a losing record(Marshall Co.) to win the #2 tie breaker. If Marshall Co. wins one of its remaining two games then they will have a winning record and therefore Columbia would have a good chance to win the district. As I see it, Ttown still is the only team that can control their own destiny. This is going to be a very interesting next couple of weeks in District 8AAA!!!

You're right - if Lawrence County and Columbia win then they're locked in a three way tie with Tullahoma for 1st. The TSSAA website currently indicates that Tullahoma would be 1st and Lawrence County 2nd in that case - that may change when it's updated tomorrow.

  7. Looking ahead, here's what I've come up with - if anyone disagrees feel free to correct me.

Winner of the Lawrence County/Tullahoma game is #1.

If Tullahoma loses, the Wildcats are #2 if Lincoln County beats Shelbyville, or if Lincoln County loses and Columbia beats Franklin County.

If Tullahoma loses and both Lincoln County and Columbia lose then Shelbyville is #2.

If Tullahoma wins, the race for #2 is about as complicated....

Lincoln County is #2 if the Falcons beat Shelbyville.

Shelbyville is #2 if the Golden Eagles beat the Falcons and Columbia loses to the Rebels - if Columbia wins then the Lions are #2.

  8. I think Lincoln Co got off around 13-14 plays on their last drive. I'm sure the clock was kept on the field, but we had no way of knowing how much time was left, up in the pressbox. I'm not sure the Tullahoma coaches knew how much time was left. The clock malfunctioned all night. It was good to know that Trey Burks didn't injure his knee or tear a hamstring. If the Cats could win over Warren Co and Franklin Co without Burks and sit out the open date, he would be well rested for Shelbyville. I was somewhat surprised that the Rebels beat Lawrence Co and Columbia just clobbered Shelbyville. I'm relieved that game is over. First time ever to win at the "Pit". The O line played well and Montrel Berry is getting better. Its good to have Sheffield back. Tullahoma is the only undefeated team in District 8AAA play and we owe Warren Co from last season. The Pioneers scored 49 pts tonite, but gave up 48 to White Co. Our defense is a bend but don't break unit. I don't drink much anymore, but a little sip of Crown Royal is in store after beating Lincoln Co.

I saw the ref keeping time indicate to both sides how much time was left - he would hold up one hand showing some fingers for the tens place, then hold up fingers showing the ones place. The coaches knew how much time was left - maybe most other folks didn't.

  9. I think Lincoln County has never had the "fear the spear" factor that many schools have experienced over the years. If you will recall they broke Riverdale's win streak at home, and beat Rankin more than once with teams that were above average but never with the amount of players or talent that Riverdale was putting on the field. It doesn't matter who coaches RHS, the Falcons were/are ready to compete against them and do.

Good points and good post. The Falcons have the potential to give the Patriots a game - but I kinda think the Patriots have that MoJo thing going this year such that it doesn't matter what the other team does - the Pats are gonna do better.

But I may be wrong....

(And obviously I hope I am!!!!) :thumb:

  10. Falcon offense looked pretty good but will somebody pleas inform them they have to play or at least atempt to play defense cause they didnt do it tonight

4 weeks into the season and they're still playing flag football. I saw the QB make a better tackle than half the defense. They really need to work on that!

  11. The Warriors bring their 3-0 record to the Pit this Friday! The Falcons are nursing the wounds of a 20-19 OT loss at Lawrence County (along with an 0-2 record).... Coach Thompson would like nothing better than to beat the Warriors one more time - but he'll need to get his team focused on the basics AND the tradition! Will it happen?

  12. Both teams had great moments and not so great moments - the Wildcats have a really good running game. The Falcons still need work on tackling and playing until the whistle blows - there were stretches of time where the defense played like wildmen - then there were times where they didn't - I don't get that. Several times I saw a defensive back slow down because he thought a teammate had the ball carrier - and then the ball carrier gets away and the back has to adjust to that. It's just nuts.

If the Falcons can fix the tackling problem and can learn to give every play everything they have until the whistle blows then they'll do well the rest of the season - the running game and passing game show lots of potential.

  13. I have been critical of coach Thompson and there is a lot of things I have seen the 3 years my daughter was in school there I did not like and I did send him an e-mail about those things. Year after year I am in the stands making more noise than anyone else and I will continue to be so for as long as I can. I am not a fan that you only see when your team is winning, I am a fan that is there no matter how good your team is. Last year I did not get to as many games because I was trying my hand at officiating but this year look for me at the home games. The economy keeps me from traveling to most of the road games but if you are ever at one of our home games look for me on the home side, south end, 10 yard line about 5 rows up. I'll be the loud mouth. Come on Falcons lets get a win.

  14. Jabbo has been on the CoachT boards for as long as I can remember. Great guy and a long time supporter of LC. We have had some nice discussiions over the yrs. He is most definitely NOT a coach. I am certain of that.

Sir, you definitely know your football (and coaches)! When the Falcons travel to Oakland I'd like to buy you one of those famous hotdogs! I'll be the guy hanging out at the concession stand wearing a CoachT tee shirt! :thumb:
