  1. Good post! It just keeps getting better on this thread - new fans are definitely what we need!
  2. I agree with both points. If the Falcons can get play two halfs like they did in the first half against both Oakland and Riverdale while keeping the turnovers down they have a very good chance to knock Columbia off the perch. And, in addition to getting a good coach to replace him, keeping that coach if he's a winner will be really difficult since even if he has ties to the community he won't have the same loyalty that Coach Thompson and folks of his generation have - not to condemn the younger crowd - that's just the way things are now.
  3. I for one am living in the now and not blinded by the past or the rough season that the TEAM is having right now. It will get better and these guys that are on the TEAM do not deserve to go 0-10. If you were part of the "we" you refer to, you would understand that TEAM bashing can only hurt a TEAM. Honestly, "deserves to go 0-10"? After all the work the TEAM has put in over each players high school career. get on the train or stand on the tracks, the falcons will roll on without you. Dang, man, when you get rolling you ROLL! Stomp that trash talker!!!!!!!! YEAH, BABY!!!! LC! LC! LC!
  4. My first post , just because im tired of hearing how bad LC is from "OUTSIDERS".Seems there is another and many many more who are behind these players and coaches. Most dont waste there time on here listening to you bash the Falcons and their coaches. you should change your name to Lion62, Patriots62,Blaze62,wildcats62, or warriors62. You obviously have no idea. Grow up!!! We are behind you Falcons! Always have and always will be. And Coach Thompson...Keep on, We are behind you . Good post! May I suggest some additional names? hater62, potstirrer62, clueless62, dingbat62, stinky62...the list could very well be endless!
  5. Dang, man...we need to coordinate better! Let's try it at the next home game!
  6. THAT'S what I'm talking about!!!!!!!!! LC! LC! LC!
  7. Until you're ready to start encouraging the players on this board rather than bashing the coaches please go away. You're not going to accomplish your agenda here. Go to a school board meeting, or have a rally on the square. You're just making things worse here. Go away.
  8. Why do you even care? You predicted a blow out in the last game, and the boys played hard and had some bad breaks, then you crowed about how you knew it would happen because you think the coaches are useless. You just want to keep bashing the coaches - you're not at all interested in encouraging the players on this board. You have your own private agenda that has nothing to do with the success of the players this Friday night. Go away.
  9. For all the Falcon players: You played hard tonight - I saw some hustle, emotion, and hard hitting that y'all should be proud of. Bad breaks with a few turnovers severely swung the game momentum toward the Patriots - that happens. Shake it off and get ready to play four quarters of Falcon football with Columbia next Friday. Don't pay any attention to the people on this board trying to undermine your coaches. You probably know who they are and who their kids are and probably understand why they care more about themselves than they do the team since they think anonymously bashing the team and the coaches will have some positive effect. They're very, very misguided. I'm proud of y'all! And as 93grad always says: LC! LC! LC!
  10. Yeah, there seems to be more anti-Falcon Football folks this year - by the time we all turn anti-Falcon the team will be assured of going 0-10 every year. What a day that will be.
  11. falcons1990 and LCFEVER - It's good to know that your kids are on the team doing their best. It's a shame that all parents and their kids don't have your and your kids' attitudes.
  12. No, I don't have a kid on the team, but my kids have played other sports and I've seen first hand what happens when disgruntled parents or fans undermine the coaches. It typically happens when some parent thinks little Johnny isn't playing enough, so rather than tell little Johnny he needs to kick it up a notch (or maybe even let him know that sometimes folks don't recognize your talent and unfairness results - this is a lesson that will help him out for the rest of his life), the parent undermines the coach (and the rest of the team) by badmouthing him to his kid and his kid's teammates. It's nothing more than selfishness masquerading as righteousness.
  13. No, it can and will make things a lot "worst". Wait until after the season...please?
  14. Unless you can tell me exactly how your venting will make anything better for the rest of the season, why don't you just let it rest, let the kids play, let the coaches coach, and when the season ends then lead a mob with torches and pitchforks to LCHS and fix everything. Again, if you can tell me exactly what positive effect your venting has on the team, then have at it...otherwise, let it go until the season ends. Please?
  15. The week in question (September 11) I did refresh the page after I was finished to make sure I picked every game, and I finished a little after 5 pm - I didn't start until after 4 pm. When I look at My Pick History for September 11 it shows Total Picks: 21 Correct: 12 Missed: 9 I assume that it wouldn't have allowed me to pick any games after the deadline.
  16. Just thought I would resurrect this thread since the Patriots are headed to the Pit Friday night. I'd like to extend an offer to the Oakland players: come on over early and meet me at the north concession stand at about 6 pm and I'll buy 20 slaw burgers for anyone that can eat them within 30 minutes - that is, between 6 and 6:30. Yes, I'm joking. I hope it's a good game - if the Falcons play both halfs the way they played the first half against Riverdale it will be a good game. Hey 2p - I'll trade you a slaw burger for an Oakland hotdog! I'm easy to spot - I'll be wearing a CoachT tee shirt!
  17. I'm not a coach - I know a couple of the coaches by name only. I work in Alabama. You seem to think I'm defending the coaches - I'm not...re-read my posts a bit more carefully and you'll see I'm defending the players, since they are the only ones that are affected by this crap.
  18. My senior year I played on a team that went 0-10. There was no internet back then, so any carping about the coaches or players stayed private. That season certainly wasn't the best time of my life, but it was a good time, because I was playing football with my friends and schoolmates. I respected the coaches (in retrospect they were close to incompetent, but ignorance can be bliss) and I respected my teammates. Had the internet existed back then and I was able to read posts from adults and players trashing the coaches, I probably would have joined in. Almost nothing would have changed, though, because anonymous carping can't change anything, except the attitudes of the players. I wouldn't have respected the coaches and some of my teammates, and I wouldn't remember it as fondly as I do. My attitude and the attitudes of a lot of my teammates would have been the only casualties. There are a lot of games left, Falcons. Give it all you have!
  19. Well, after tonight either the Falcons or the Wildcats will have their first district win...with the soggy field and more rain forecast it ain't gonna be pretty.... BUT...I'm gonna get my oilskins, leggings, sou'wester, sea-boots, and maybe a pint o' grog to keep the chill off, and I'm gonna head to Tullahoma in a few hours to watch some Falcon football!!! Ya gotta love it!!!
  20. From looking at the available stats, both teams present a rushing threat, with Lincoln County being more consistent - but both threats are one dimensional, so the coaching prep and coaching during the game will be the main factor here, and will probably be what decides the game. The Falcons have struggled mightily to develop a passing game but Tullahoma has a respectable one. Neither team has shown much strength in either passing or rushing defense. Tullahoma has the overall edge in this game based on the stats and will be playing at their new stadium, which probably won't mean much after the first few minutes of the game unless the home crowd is dominant and fired up. The stats really don't tell me if the game will be low scoring, a shoot out or a blow out. Get ready and get it done, Falcons!
  21. Come on down to the Pit at Lincoln County and have yourself a slaw burger or two or three...they are politically correct (meaning nicotine free) and happen to be delicious! Definitely the best chew for Friday Night Lights!
  22. You are absolutely right...that is an absolutely fundamental skill in football. Any team that understands that will do respectfully well, regardless of any lack of high caliber talent. Execution is basic.
  23. Great post. I doubt many coaches realize the importance of creating two teams - one composed of players and one composed of coaches. Recognizing and allocating the talent of one's assistant coaches is just as important as doing that for the players - even if a subordinate seems to be getting a lot of the credit. It's always a team effort, and good head coaches realize that.
  24. I finished my picks yesterday afternoon at 5:16 pm but 6 of the picks didn't get in - under My Pick History it shows that I picked all 21 games. What happened?
