  1. They are in bracket form in .pdf format. If you can't open it, you need to dowload the latest free version of Adobe Reader (I think 9.0 now? or at least 8.0). You can use it to open/view .pdf format documents. Several tournaments use them, so it will be useful more than this one time offer. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> Follow the link below. Be sure to uncheck the box for 'Free Google Toolbar' before you click the 'download' button. http://get.adobe.com/reader/
  2. Yes. An unfortunately ugly story (terribly bad and incredibly stupid decision for whatever the intent) that came out (no pun intended) over the summer led to his transfer. There may still be some pending litigation over it.

  4. ghouse beat me to the punch.... It is a great tool. USAW-AL uses it for their youth tournaments. A few of the high schools use them for their AHSAA sanctioned events (Heart of Dixie Classic, Hoover Invitational, few others..). As ghouse said, as is the case with most things, it's only as good as the work you put into it. If you have good support people (or at least 1 good support data tech/entry person), then you should be set. For the most part, it runs well. There have been a couple of situations (in AL tournaments) when someone didn't follow through with data entry and it makes trackwrestling appear worthless.....although not the fault of the trackwrestling software. In a nutshell, we have more votes 'for' than 'against' down here.
  5. Good luck and safe travels to East Ridge and McCallie as they travel down to the Heart of Dixie Classic (hosted by Vestavia Hills, AL) on Mon/Tues, December 29-30. Link: Heart of Dixie Classic at Vestavia Hills (AL)

  9. FYI They are running live updates by bout and round. http://www.treyculotta.info/ For current (running) team points, follow the above link, and in the left menu - select Teams and then Results. For current individual results, select Day 2 and then Scores, and then by Team or by Weight. Thought some of you would like to know.
  10. Don't feel bad. We have beaten that dead horse beyond recognition down here. Shaking hands vs not shaking hands is pretty much the same argument down here as you guys have with something like when will the regular season match-up of Bradley vs Baylor happen up there. Everyone agrees to disagree. I regret that you had an unpleasant experience with a team (any team) from AL. Please understand that it is not a blanket reflection of AL as a whole, or even that team as a whole. I'm not here to condone nor condemn your example. I will offer that if you (or anyone) disagrees with a particular practice or behavior --- turn it into a positive. Use that example to show your kids what you don't want them to do. If you agree with shaking everyone's hand at every interval, then coach your kids to do so. If you agree with postponing handshakes between matches/intervals until all matches in a dual have been wrestled, then coach your kids to do so. I'm neither for nor against any particular practice. Each coach and each team has their own preference. My opinion: Win with humility. Lose with grace. Wrestle hard. Work harder. Respect all. Fear none.
  11. You crack me up........and I don't even live there. BTW, nice (reasonable) pics......with or without the help of those other 10 who screened your call. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

  15. ru4mocs- My bad. Moates was at 112 not 103. Thanks for the follow up to answer my questions. Thanks to both of you for taking the time to post results! The emoticon code is a B surrounded by parenthesis which I'd guess is representing Blackmon. Simply put a space between the 'B' and the ) end parenthesis. It should clear up.
  16. Da Bears- Thanks for the results. Any other notables from AL? (Clay Moates of Hoover at 103?) (Clegg of Huntsville at 145/152?) (Winkles from Huntsville at 189?) Congrats to all. Special congrats to a couple who 'brung it' this weekend. 130 Jeremy Miller (Greenback) = defeated 2x State Champ Jake Henson (Huntsville), 3x State Placer 215 Josh Patton (Blackmon) = defeated State Champ Blake Herrin (undefeated as a Jr. last year), 3x State Placer
  17. Arab City Schools carried on 'business as usual' today (as did Huntsville City Schools) when many across north AL were delayed 2 hrs (as did Marshall County where Arab is, and Madison County where Huntsville is) or even canceled.
  18. Not sure how to take that, so I have 2 answers: 1 - If that was meant sarcastically, no. Arab makes the trip to McGavock every year. They've never won state in AL, and I don't think have ever had more than 2 state champs on a single team and rarely have repeat state champs. At McGavock, they've won 2 of the last 4 and finished 2nd the other 2 of the last 4 (once to Antioch by 5.5 points, and once to Oxford, also from AL). We (well, most of us that don't have our heads in the sand anyway) will readily admit that TN is much better (read: progressed) in wrestling than AL. The number of schools that field a team in TN versus that of AL alone will give some indication. Yes, we have several multiple time state champs, but my opinion is that it's due to sheer lack of depth down here. Rest assured, AL's multiple timers can go toe-to-toe with TN's best on any given year. We're optimistic that we'll catch you guys one day (and GA too, for that matter). 2 - If that wasn't meant sarcastically (although it sure sounded like a slap), then I completely misunderstood your tone (easy to do.......stupid internet). /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> Arab won't be as strong this year, but they should finish top 4 at McGavock. Ones to watch: 103 Colt Grace = 2008 State 4th @ 103 or 103 Will Stephenson 119 Chaz Jones = 2008 State 3rd @ 112, 2007 State Qualifier @ 125 125 Jarod Stephenson = 3x State Runner-up @ 119, 112, 103, won the last 3 McGavock tourneys 135 Jes Smith = 2008 State Qualifier @ 125 152 Blake Suttles 285 John Smith, 2008 State 3rd @ 285, 2007 State Qualifier @ 285

  20. (nice coverage by Gene Henley for Chattanooga Times Free Press) http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/2008/de...lls-old-timers/ (VERY NICE coverage by B.B. Branton for thechattanoogan.com) http://chattanoogan.com/articles/article_140354.asp LaFayette Captures Inaugural Old Timers??™ Wrestling Cup by B.B. Branton posted December 6, 2008 Every coach worth his or her salt loves to win a tournament in anything, whether it is a neighborhood gathering or a world title. And winning the first of something is even sweeter. Just as the LaFayette High School wrestling team. The defending Georgia AA state duals and traditional champions rambled into town (to UTC??™s Maclellan Gym) Saturday morning undefeated and by sunset had the inaugural Old Timer??™s Cup well in hand. The Orange and Black of coach Lee Dendy swept through pool play 3-0 and then knocked off Cleveland, 39-26, and McCallie, 58-15, in the round robin finals. The Blue Raiders finished second with a 46-28 triumph against McCallie. ???To beat quality wrestling programs such as McCallie and Cleveland is a real thrill for us,??™??™ said Dendy, whose Ramblers are 6-0 on the young season. ???Our guys really wanted to win this first Old Timer??™s Cup and our conditioning throughout a long day of wrestling (five matches) was better than I anticipated, Dendy stated. LaFayette 39, Cleveland 26 The Ramblers spotted Cleveland a three point lead after the opening match at 119 and then won seven straight for a 33-3 lead. With a maximum of 36 points still on the table and strength of Cleveland??™s lineup to come, Lafayette??™s Will Gilbert clinched the team win. Gilbert edged Jesse Jones, 5-3, at 171 in an emotionally-charged match to give Lafayette an insurmountable 36-3 lead. The Blue Raiders scored the next 23 points as Chip Norwood (tech. fall), Max Ofori (forfeit), Adam Peters (fall) and Bryan Alvarado (fall) to trail 36-36, before Lafayette??™s Chance Gilride edged Edwin Rodriquez, 9-5, to close out the match. LaFayette 58, McCallie 18 The Ramblers led all the way in this one to clinch the title. McCallie??™s wins came from T.J. Duncan (decision), Alex Moore (forfeit) and Alex Ward (fall). ???We won all the close matches today and that??™s a tribute to hard work and determination,??™??™said Dendy who knows something about hard work with a pair of individual state titles in his trophy case. Cleveland 46, McCallie 28 The Blue Raiders defeated McCallie for the second time in three days, having won 40-28 on Thursday. Today, Cleveland won two of the first three weights to lead, 12-6. McCallie won the next five and led 28-12 after Chase Martino pinned Will Moreland at 152. Cleveland won the final six matches, four via fall. Best Match: McCallie rallied to defeat Soddy Daisy 34-32 in pool play. The Trojans led 23-3 after five weights and were up 32-15 after 10. McCallie won the final four weights, including a third period pin by Alex Moore (215) in the final match. Only Girl: LaFayette??™s Hannah Jackson (103) was the only girl in the tournament. The freshman was 1-4 on the day and hopes to be the Rambler 103-pounder for four years. ??
  21. Congrats to the Bears. Correct on Henson (130).....2x State Champ. Didn't place last year (lost in semis to eventual State Champ who knocked off another 2xer in the finals). 22. You just contradicted yourself. If Bradley has a great team (in your words), then why would 13 in the semis (we're not even talking about the finals yet) for the first main tournament weekend (in AL anyway) surprise you? Especially when da' Bears live and breathe this stuff. Heck, we do good to get enough kids out for a team to fill a roster down here --- let alone stay focused for 3 months out of the year. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> "In addition to the Huntsville Panthers, teams entered are defending champion Bradley Central of Cleveland, Tenn., Arab, Bob Jones, Buckhorn, Butler, Cullman, Erwin, Fort Payne, Hartselle, Lee, Mortimer Jordan, Prattville, St. Clair County, Scottsboro and Sparkman." (*source) Arab = not bad, have a few good wrestlers (Grace, Jones, Stephenson, Smith) Bob Jones = not bad Bradley Central (TN) = can't tell you anything you don't already know Buckhorn = couple of individuals are okay Butler = probably have no more than 3-4 wrestlers on roster....if that Cullman = first year team Erwin = couple of pretty good wrestlers (Pilot, Moore) Fort Payne = couple of pretty good wrestlers (Gaspar, Stone, Hilyer) Hartselle = couple of pretty good wrestlers (Davis, Hamilton) Huntsville = rebuilding, pretty good, couple of studs (Henson, Herrin) Lee = probably have no more than 3-4 wrestlers on roster....if that Mortimer Jordan = not bad, relatively new, couple of studs (Brindley, Stewart) Prattville** = pretty solid but see footnote below (Carter, Countryman, Killough, Flournoy, Zimmerman) St. Clair County = not bad for a small school, few good ones Scottsboro = pretty solid (Womack, Malone, Shankles, Gonder, McCrary, G.Machen, T.Machen, Henshaw) Sparkman = couple of individuals are okay **Prattville's football team is in the AHSAA Class 6A State Championship game today.
  23. As usual, BayouBear pretty much nailed it. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> True, the Huntsville Invitational as a whole isn't what it once was, but there's still some pretty good individual match-ups waiting for Bradley every year. In the past, Grissom, Vestavia Hills, (long ago) Southside, (long ago) Athens, and a few others have provided some tough comp. More recently, Scottsboro, Prattville, and newcomer to wrestling Mortimer Jordan should provide a few. Look at it more as a decent tri-match or quad for da' Bears. Bradley has pretty much owned this tournament for the last 20-25 years that I'm aware of. Even in the few years they didn't win it, they were high on the leader board, so 13 in the semis and tbd in the finals should be no surprise.
  24. For what it's worth, you can see results from the last 3 years: 2007 Black Horse 2006 Black Horse 2005 Black Horse Anxious to see how Grissom does. They should be good enough to land back in the top 5 this year. Good luck to all!
