  1. No way.....Jose'. What have you been smokin'?
  2. Principal of JCHS wanted to add a player questionable player to Lambert's team, and Lambert disagreed. I understand, because why coach if someone else is gonna make the decisions for you? I don't expect you to be for Lambert blue 1, but I will think about you when he is named coach
  3. who said anything about the administration? this is simply a premonition on my part. (of which I admit I am usually correct)
  4. as stated before.........not gonna happen
  5. Blue1, First of all, I don't exactly see Tubby Smith knocking on the CHS door(or any other H.S. door for that matter). You make it sound like Central could have Tubby, but they usually pick the Wade Houston types of the basketball world. My advice is to CHILL OUT!!!!! I seriously doubt that you have ever been involved in the H.S. hiring process, so take my word for it, it is hard to do a "national search". 1) the individual should be a teaching fit, which by the way, is the REAL reason that they are there to start with (or at least it is with Lambert). So it is not that easy to hire whomever just because they "sound appealing". 2) Knox County is strapped for money right now, so the situation must be a fit for the school AND the system. So I hope this clears up any misconceptions you might have about watching "poorly coached basketball teams at Central the last few years". I too, agree that it has not been the most fruitful seasons on record, but would you rather have jerks that win coach your kids OR would you rather have someone that cares for them that can teach them something along the way too? One final thought, could it be that some schools are just known as Football schools?
  6. No.....I think its sad that Halls takes care of "its own". You missed my point again as usual. But,.......what else is new.
  7. Why would this state want to hire somebody that moved away for "greener pastures", only to find it not so rosy? I, too have heard he can coach, but a source close to the situation says he hasn't even filled out an application for this job. I still support J.D. Lambert for the position, and I would essentially bet "the ranch in Texas" as Bob Mason used to say that Lambert will be the man. P.S. Maybe Barnes can coach one day at Carter High School, I hear he has an in there.
  8. You have no proof that Central cheats, and furthermore explain to me why Halls has no minority students? I can't ever recall Halls having a black player. You are always running down the Bobcats, but I am sure it takes some time, creativity, and a little recruiting to make sure your school has no minorities. In your own words, whats up with that "chit"?
  9. Don't get caught up in fever's war of words. Instead, see if his Red Devils can muster enough points next season against the Bobcats. I for one, highly doubt it. (Let's see....2000--3 points,2001--2 points,2002-- why.....is that a goose egg?) That is the true battlefield for sports, not some chat site. Grow some offense Reddevilfever!!!!!!
  10. I totally agree. Both of these individuals are great talents, and from what I understand, great people as well. I wish success for both.
  11. Unfortunately, for me personally, I am also hearing strongly that JD Lambert formerly of Jefferson Co., and currentis alsa girls coach at Knox Central (and also strongly rumored to be the next boys coach at Central if he wants it)is also very high on the list of the Smokey Bears administration. Hope that doesn't happen, but given the budget crunch in Knox County, who could blame him if Seveir County offers. I am afraid that Knox County is going to regret losing some quality coaches over this money squabble.
  12. Kevin Lane IS NOT a coach at CHS, and from what I understand he never will be. So watch that erroneous data you are throwing around there 'bro. As for those other kids, somebody told me that the Harvey young man was dismissed from the Halls program. Any truth to that story?
  13. my money is on J.D. Lambert. One of the hardest workers I have ever seen, but yet possesses a sharp sense of strategy on and off of the court. His players will do what he says, and as far as transition from the former coach, J.D. will be the best fit. Although I hear there are many qualified and great candidates, I still say Lambino is the man to beat. Anmybody got any ideas for a girls coach(presuming Lambert gets the nod)??
  14. .......Ok Maryville Rebels, I didn't infer that there are not schools that recruit, its just not the Bobcats. With reference to the issue about Maryville, I suppose they are within the guidelines if they have kids that pay tuition to go there. (might not be what I think, but I am sure you will not let it die). So there,....are you happy? I also did not say I had a problem with Maryville or any other school, and I will be the first to admit that Maryville is very deserving of their state titles. You see, I don't spend my time counting roster transfers or looking up who played for what Pop Warner football league teams becuase that will not assist in winning any future games. Finally,....sometimes the competition is just better than you....and that my friend even applies to the Bobcats on occasion.
  15. ...I totally agree with you Blue 1. What can be gained by rehashing something that has been brought up enough.
  16. I will officially answer your questions, and then I want you to answer mine. One, there are 7 transfers on the CHS football roster, and the reasons for those transfers range from parents teaching at CHS to special course offerings. So all situations are legitimate, and are to be challenged "all day long" as the immortal John Bean/Leroy Mercer once stated. So bring it on. Two, yes we have a coach who used to coach the Halls super midgets, and he does not have an ulterior motive other than the fact that he does want to help coach his son. The reason behind that being that he is an ex NFL lineman and happens to know something about the game and not simply because he is trying to alienate people in the Halls community. In fact, he told me he gives more thought to the gauge of thickness in the toilet paper he chooses, than he does the thoughts of unnerving fans in a neighboring community. As I stated the other day in my response, it is all a moot point because the powers that be have looked into the matter and appear to be satisfied that everyone is legal. Now, after once and for all answering your question, will you please answer mine? Can we all just compete, and accept defeat when we come up short? If we didn't have setbacks, what would propel us to work for tomorrow? (Edited by JKerrBdaMan 4-17-03)
  17. Ok fever, I see Redrage's point, perhaps to the uninformed it might be perceived as recruiting. However, I am fairly close to the situation, and I can honestly say that I see no evidence that would lead me to believe that any of the Bobcats players are illegal, or out of zone, or whatever you want to call it. Now, I do have a situation I want you to ponder. I have been told by a couple of KEY people in sports administration that Central is considered an "open zone", due to the geographic nature of its territory.Notice what the school is called CENTRAL, not North, South, East, or West. Although, you agree or disagree, this is a moot point if this information is correct. Now notice, I said whether you agree or disagree, it makes no difference what we think, the legalities of the matter are already satisfied. I enjoy the "bantering" back and forth, and I think that is only helping to fuel rivalries, which is what many of us live for in the fall. However, if you think that the powers that be at CHS would permit open recruiting, then you are sadly mistaken my friend. So, yes I do see Blue 1's point, and I answered his question, but that does not mean I agree with him/her. 18. No chance of him missing a TD by the Red Devils, especially against the Bobcats. Pee Wee herman has scored more than Halls has in the last 3 seasons.
  19. I was told today that the Bobcats may be getting another transfer student. I will not confirm who, but it is somneone who played in the 3-A championship game. Stay tuned
  20. But they still tear the FOOTBALL FIELD up.
  21. What in tarnation have you been smokin'? I might see some improvement in the Big Green Machine, but to come out and say they are going to beat Maryville........well, that is highly unlikely at best. Until Carter runs some resemblence of a comfortable offense,(and lose the Chinese fire drill they ran last season)they will continue to sputter. I don't care if they have Peyton at QB. Some common sense must prevail before the Hornets can get "in the ballgame".
  22. Amen on that one brother!!!!!!!!
  23. No doubt that Central will be strong again this season. I just don't know if Maryville will be as strong as they have been. Actually, I think that the Rebels will be heard from when all is said and done, but the Bobcats will catch them at Dan Y. Boring field and declare "there's a new sheriff in town". As far as third and fourth........well, lets just say that third place for the Hornets might be wishful thinking. I need evidence of an offense before I would go out on a limb and say that. Most likely, a solid Powell squad will be fourth, and a reloaded Halls team will vie with Clinton for fourth place. In the words of the immortal Ric Flair...."You may not like us, bet you better learn to live with it, because the Bobcats are gonna be around a looooooonnng time!! Whoooooooooooo"
  24. Again, soccer has struck football. Carter played at Alcoa today in the pouring rain, and surely that cannot be good for any football field. Now, Alcoa's athletic dept. may have given this their blessings, but I am sure glad this did not happen at my community school. When will the sport of soccer start creating their own facility and stop ruining what football programs and boosters take years to cultivate? By the way, most sports do not start at the top of the ladder, they must work themselves up to where they can. Get a clue soccer.
