  1. We are ok after the storms, Gwave. We were fortumate in that we were actually out of town for the weekend when they hit. We suffered no damage, but my prayers go out to those that did. Please do keep us posted on any scrimmages. I am getting the fever again, guys. Week 0 will be here before you know it.
  2. Who will be the team to beat in 5-5A in 2006? What will be the the top four? Who are the outstanding players in our region this year? Gwave, Squash or whoever else may know, when is Gallatin's Green and Gold Game?
  3. Despite losing virtually their entire starting lineup from last year (with the exception of Angel Harris), Gallatin has looked pretty good thus far this season. They already have a convincing win over Portland, and and impressive win over Riverdale in this young season. However, the biggest test so far this season will be Tuesday night when they go to 5-0 Hendersonville for their first district game of the year. What are your expectations for this team? Do they have what it takes to make it to a State Tournament?
  4. Thanks for your prompt response and correction Coach. We appreciate what you do for high school sports in Tennessee.
  5. CoachT, Pearl Cohn is listed under District 9 AAA when you look at the District 9 schedule from any of the teams' sub domains by clicking on the blue District 9 link at the top right hand corner of the screen. This seems to be an error because PC is not in that District to my knowledge. Thanks alot. Gtowner
  6. Great season Wave!! We have good hopes for next year with all the juniors and sophomores that we will be returning. What will Brentwood look like next year, I know that they have a lot of Seniors on both sides of the ball?
  7. Nuts and Bolts, Nuts and Bolts, We Got SCREWED!!!!!!!!!!!! This was a good game of fotball; all but one play at least. Isn't it funny how one official can throw an entire season out the window on one absurd call? Gallatin had the lead 9-7 in the middle of the 4th quarter when Brentwood kicked something like a 35 yard field goal. The kick was far left, but there was a flag on the play.... roughing the kicker on Gallatin. This would be reasonable had the Gallatin defender even touched the kicker, or had the white hat not waited to make sure that the kick was going to be no good before he threw the flag. Thats right, the judge did not even watch the kicker, he watched the ball! Then to beat it all, the kicker fell on the ground in agony and "had to be" carried off the field by two linemen only to be able to come in 3 plays later and kick to make it a 10-9 game. Best Kicker of the Year, yeah right, more like best actor of the year! You get my vote
  8. Cowbells, milk jugs, and air horns. Bring whatever you can think of to make noise. Oh, just for reference, both the Gallatin and Hendersonville Super Wal-Marts are sold out of large air horns. I think I have a good idea why
  9. It is good to hear from a Cookeville fan. Good luck to you guys as well in your tilt with Wilson Central.
  10. The Gallatin crowd has been a real factor for the past 3 weeks. They have been louder than they have been in a long time. Things won't change this week. The air horns are going to be louder than ever.
  11. Gallatin will host Brentwood this coming Friday night in a battle of epic proportions. This matchup has some great games in its history. This year's does not look to be any different. Gallatin is coming off a 35-14 win over the Dickson Co. Cougars while the Bruins beat the McGavock Raiders last week 31-6. Both of these ball clubs have been playing outstanding football as of late. Here are some stats to compare these teams: Gallatin Points Allowed: 125 Avg. per game: 11.4 Points Scored: 263 Avg. per game: 24 Brentwood Points Allowed: 66 Avg. per game: 6 Points Scored: 335 Avg. per game: 30.5 Common opponents Dickson Co.: Gallatin 35-14 Brentwood 17-0 McGavock: Gallatin 28-7 Brentwood 31-6
  12. Gallatin came out and played another sound game of football tonight. They kept the turnovers to a minimum, and for the first time all season they threw for over 150 yards. Dickson Co. just had a tough time all around. They had a hard time getting anything going on offense until the 3rd quarter when Gallatin started subbing in players on defense. Things will get harder for the Wave next week as they will host 10-1 Brentwood next Friday night.
  13. Should be a good crowd tonight. I know some people that are coming all the way from Kentucky to watch the Green Wave tonight!
  14. Yeah, I mean there are all kinds of people walking around with guns and knifes at the Gallatin games. Give me a break man. Gallatin is one of the most hospitable places for the opposing teams in all of the state! Where else can you go and the bleachers on the vistors' side be better than on the home side.
  15. Look for a loud crowd Friday night if they show up like they did for the McGavock game! The Wave Yard gets pretty crazy when it comes time for the playoffs.
  16. This is a rivalry that goes back a long time. There was a time when it seemed like these two teams would meet up every year in the playoffs. DC returns to Gallatin Friday night for the First round of the state playoffs and rekindles this age old rivalry. Dickson Co. comes into this game with a 4-6 overall record for the regular season, but don't let that fool you. They play in a region with some of the toughest teams in the state in Ravenwood, Brentwood, and Franklin. DC has been good on defense all season long allowing the second fewest points in their region. The offense, on the other hand, seems to come and go. Gallatin brings a 8-2 overall record and a region 5-5A championship to the table. They have been striken with turnovers this season, up until the past 3 weeks. The Wave D has been supurb all season long, and as of late, the offense gives so many different looks it will make your head spin. In the last 2 games, Gallatin has only thrown the ball 7 times with 4 completions, but 3 of those were TDs. What are your thoughts and opinions for this game. I'd love to hear from some Dickson Co. fans as well.
  17. The key to this win for Gallatin was the fact that they kept the ball away from McGavock. Mc only had the ball for 6:30 in the first half. That is how you have to beat teams, win the time of possession and field possition battle. Great job by the Wave, and to coach Broom for turning McGavock football around. Good luck to you guys in Brentwood next week. We would love to have you back in G-town in two weeks.
  18. Another intersesting side note: The winner of Region 5-5A will have the opportunity to play every playoff game at home this season with the way that the brackets are aligned this year. Even more on the line for the Green Wave
  19. You are correct. With the outcomes of last night's games (Antioch over Glencliff, and Overton over Hillwood), Gallatin will be the #1 seed if they win and the #4 seed if they lose. Also, McGavock, win or lose tonight, can't win the region. If they beat Gallatin then they will be the #2 seed, and if they lose, they will be the #3 seed. Not as confusing as it was before last night, but still confusing nonetheless. Those guys that wrote the song about Christmas being the most wonderful time of the year were full of horse crap! This is the most wonderful time of the year! I love to see a game were everything is on the line. This is almost like a playoff game in itself. I hope the stands are packed full tonight, and the crowd is roaring loud. See you all at the game. Remember, this is a 7:30 kickoff.
  20. Gallatin will host the McGavock Red Raiders this coming Friday night at the Wave Yard. This matchup is for all the cookies. The winner of this game will claim the Region 5-5A title, while the loser will do no better than 3rd place in the region. Gallatin is coming off of argueably their most sound preformance of the season with a 24-0 shut-out over Hendersonville on Friday. They came out with a balanced offense, and won the field position battle as well. Furthermore, they only turned the ball over one time all night long. The Wave defense was supurb in all aspects, with several tackles for losses and an ever important defensive TD. McGavock, on the other hand, comes into this battle bosting an impressive 8-1 record with their only hickup coming to Antioch two weeks ago. The Raiders are also coming off of an impressive win over defensive juggernaut John Overton by a score of 21-10. They run a high powered offense, and have several players that could break the big one at any time. With the bitter past of these two schools, one could not ask for a more exciting game to end out the regular season, but more importantly, to determine the Region 5-5A champion.
  21. J.T. Ferrel is out for tonights game, which means that Justin Sadler will be the starter with Corey Willmore backing him up. Grafton is still not 100%, but Lassiter said on the coaches show last night that he will probably play. No other major injuries that I know of at this time. If this sitting half the team thing is true, I am going to be very surprised, but I would not complain considering I am a Gallatin faithful. Good luck to the Wave tonight, and to Sadler in perticular. This is what you have been playing for 3 years for, go out and show'em what you got.
  22. I knew when Gallatin played Glencliff that they would pull an upset this season. What I am wondering is that have we yet to see that upset? Yes, H-ville should have won that game, but I think that Glencliff is going to catch someone overlooking them and pull the big one. Maybe McGavock will be the one. Looks like excellent weather for the game on Friday. See yall on the south side!
  23. I think that this matchup will showcase arguably the two best defenses in Region 5-5A Football. John Overton has not allowed more than 14 points in any game this season. But possibly their most impressive feat was holding a very talented Antioch team to only 3 points two weeks ago. And Gallatin has allowed over 7 points in only two games (one of which was vs Wilson Central). They also kept Antioch from scoring a TD and held them to 6 points this past week. Look for this to be a low scoring football game. I am looking forward to making the trip out to Overton for the very first time this Friday night. I hope to see you all there! My Predicton: Gallatin 10 Overton 3
  24. Antioch played a very good football game on both sides of the ball. I was very impressed with their defense in particular. I, also, was impressed with Antioch's #9. It is not often that you see a 6'1" 250 pounder that runs a 4.5 or 4.6 40 (unoffical stats). On Saturday's coaches breakfast, Coach Porter of the Green Wave said that Jair Bell told him that he ran as hard as he knew how at #9 and it was still like hitting a brick wall. Kudos to Antioch's football team. I see them finishing #3 in the region. See yall next week at Overton!
