  1. Look guys, White House was simply beaten by a very superior team. I believe Whites Creek is tremendously underated. They simply lined up and beat us in every single phase of the game and that rarely happens to White House. Give Whites Creek the credit, and their #50 showed a tremendous amount of class after the game. He came over to the White House sidelines and shook the hands of the coaching staff and others--very classy act. As for Metro teams owning us in the playoffs from 2001-2009--not exactly the case. White House is 2-5 against Metro teams during that stretch (wins over Overton, Hillwood; losses to Hillsboro twice, Pearl-Cohn twice, and now Whites Creek). The two wins came in a 13-1 campaign campaign. The losses to Hillsboro came in years where we finished 10-3, and 7-4. The losses to Pearl-Cohn came in years where we failed to win ten games, and now this year, we go 6-5. To say that Metro owns us not accurate. We had a rough year, but still managed to finish with a winning season for the 27th consecutive season. There are a lot of teams in the state that would gladly swap places. Go Big Blue.
  2. Please, let's not allow him to ref a game for his alma mater. And please, don't allow him to ref a game in town where he lives. And please, don't allow him to ref a game in which his friend is coach. And please, don't allow him to ref a game in which someone he doesn't like coaches. And please, don't allow him to ref a game in which his children attend the school. And please, don't allow him to ref a game in which the school mascot is an animal. Etc, Etc, Etc. P-L-E-A-S-E. We can always find something wrong if we look deep enough.
  3. I had originally thought White House would be a slight favorite in this one, but what Beech did to Station Camp was very impressive. I still believe WH is at least three touchdowns better than SC, so look for this game to a very close, tight game. Beech is 7-2 all-time in this series and should be a slight favorite, but I never count out BDP! Be there early---7:00 pm start time you know.
  4. The announcer misunderstood the stat on my weekly newsletter. Dixon is fast approaching Ladd's career mark for touchdowns scored (54). After the Greenbrier contest, Dixon has 37. He is nowhere near Ladd's career mark for rushing yardage.
  5. 1994 Regular Season Game between Greenbrier and White House. Greenbrier led 14-0 at the half. Score tied at 14-14 at the end of regulation. Greenbrier led 21-14 in the 1st OT Greenbrier led 28-21 in the 2nd OT Greenbrier led 35-28 in the 3rd OT Greenbrier led 42-35 in the 4th OT when WH scored a miracle TD on fourth down. White House won the game 48-42 in 5 overtimes. Also, I too was there for the Smith/Macon playoff game in 2003. The fire marshall ordered the gates closed. It was standing room only and loud as anything I've ever heard...simply amazing.
  6. The record for most tackles in a game belongs to Michael Jamison set against College Grove in a 1973 playoff game. Jamison had 20 total tackles. Others... Most yards rushed in a game...James Taylor w/379 Most passing yards in a game...Trox Greenwade w/395 Most receiving yards in a game...Dean Misch w/ 222 Most receptions in a game...Dean Misch w/8 Most points in a game...Joey Lamborn w/36 Most ints in a game...Gary Hicks w/4 Most sacks in a game...Terry Smith w/5 Check out this year's program to see a complete rundown of the record holders in 64 different categories.
  7. I hear what you're saying about Trox. He has a chance to break the career punting averaging this season. He trails Clint Patana by less than one yard per kick coming into the year. Clint averaged 40.83 yards per kick for the Devils back in the late 80s.
  8. Somebody please if you know... Clint Ruth set the White House record for longest punt during the 1999 season. Does anyone against what team he did this?
  9. What about the game played in Nashville in 1999 against White House. The Mustangs turned the ball on seven consecutive first half possessions to derail an undefeated season. White House won the game 24-10. Clint Ruth of White House netted three field goals in the win.
  10. The Devils are looking to creep within one game of tying the all-time series with a win this season. Go BDP!!!!!
  11. The Panthers lead the all-time series 21-19 if I'm not mistaken. The Devils are looking to close to within one in the series this season.
  12. Everyone seems to forget James Taylor who blew his knee out in week 2 of his senior year against Portland. As good as Ricky Ladd was, he would not had become the all-time rusher at White House had Taylor been able to play his senior season. Taylor still holds the single game rushing mark at White House---379 yards I believe Also there was a tailback in the early 60's by the name of John Barry. I've been unable to find very many stats for him, but what few I've found were all incredibly long runs.
  13. I was wondering who was going to mention him. Mr. Football candidate last year, he should only be better this time around. I know he lit us (White House) up last season in regular season matchup.
  14. Uh, hello????? It's a large task for even White House to compete with Goodpasture? Please!!! This should be one of the better games of the season. Don't simply hand this title to the Cougars. Sycamore and Greenbrier will also be able to compete with the Cougars.
  15. Trox Greenwade of White House Poteete (I forget his first name, but he's awesome) of DeKalb Co. Either could be Mr. Football.
  16. Anyone else? Where are all the former players, fans, etc? I've always considered our fans among the best so c'mon........
  17. Well I was looking for humorous, not ludicrous, but thanks for the input.
  18. Anyone interested in the history of this storied program, I am writing a detailed book on the history of the program and am looking for humorous stories or other interesting anecdotes from former players, fans, etc. Leave them here or e-mail me @ five2962@yahoo.com and I'll get back to you. I've already written about 230 pages, so try not to hesitate too long if possible.
  19. ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? I'm not whining about anything, I just love an underdog. Springfield has a title, White House has one, it's time for Jo Byrns. Shouldn't we pull for our locals?
  20. This White House fan is rooting for Jo Byrns. It's time someone else had a shot at the trophy.
  21. If not mistaken, I do believe that TSSAA does not allow for reserved seating at a "sanctioned" playoff game. We arrived at 5:00 pm and the only signs up were in front of the pressbox which read "Irish Parents" and on the far left which said, "Irish Students". There were no other signs around. I have an MA in Education, so I KNOW that I can read. Perhaps if the Irish fans had decided to show up before 6:45 (you know it's true), you would have found a place to sit. Two of your fans sitting in our midst admitted that there was no reserved seating for playoff games, so that argument is out the window. As for your team--you took advantage of our mistakes and did what you had to do. I have no complaints about your team. They played a tremendous ball game and should come away with the state title next week.
  22. I was very proud of the effort our boys in blue put out during the game. You simply cannot turn the ball over that many times and expect to win. Bottom line was that Catholic took advantage of the opportunities that arose--end of story. That having been said, 12-2 is nothing for which any team should apologize. Good luck Catholic, but I'll pull for Mitchell simply because I love an underdog story. I'll also root for Milan over Alcoa and Jo Byrns over Trousdale, what can I say--I do love an underdog!!!
  23. Run game = slight edge to Catholic Pass game = distinct advantage to White House Kicking game = distinct advantage to White House Defense = slight edge to Catholic Coaching = slight edge to White House (Hey I'm a WH fan, I'm supposed to be biased) Intangibles = call it even except maybe for homefield advantage White House wins a close, close, game, 25-22
  24. What disturbed me most was that a week ago, with DeKalb trailing 42-6 in the fourth quarter, their fans were STILL THERE, screaming "TIGER PRIDE" and cheering for their team. This week with SC down 28-12 late, the SC fans were G-O-N-E!!!!!!!! Support your boys people, come on.
  25. Actually, Trox tied Kyle Levering for 3rd with 26 career td passes. Gordon Keene is 2nd w/27 and Finch is all alone out front w/50!
