    Launching pads

I don't think the balls fly out like they used to after they lengthened it. But i remember routine pop flys going out. I saw a kid get fisted and hit it out opposite field.
  4. if anyone would have read the schedule or cared, they would have known that

    40 times

A 4.4 for a wide reciever isn't gonna mean squat if he can't get off the line of scrimmage.
  8. What is the purpose of this thread? Do some people get so much kicks out of seeing their name online? I don't see the need for another thread titled, "best thrid baseman at such and such school who is named such and such but isn't the starting third baseman"?

    Pregame

I always liked it because i got to throw the ball to first, figure out what the ball looked like coming out of the background, and i got a feel for how the ball bounced. I know that might sound trivial, but for me it wasn't. I know at Coffee County, i was throwing the ball up hill. Lincoln County i always had a hard time picking the ball up off the cement back wall. And every new place is different. Sure after a couple of games at a place i know most of the bounces, but at new places i liked to get a feel for my surroundings.
  10. I do believe the Price kid, up in cookeville the other night was hitting 91, 92 and 93 consistantly, and topped out at 94. Of course he broke a curve ball off traveling at 70. Thats not fait.
  11. Tullahoma's coach? Not anything directly to the umpire.
  12. If i had just beat a defending state chamion who hadn't lost in almost 50 games, i would be excited to. Especially the way they won it. And it doesn't matter who was playing and who wasn't.
  13. The problem is, the coach didn't have time to get there because he was tossed as soon as he said something which was about as soon as the third strike was called. And its hard with only two coaches on the staff, for one of them to get thrown out. Thats 2 games with one coach. Not to mention the heavy fine that comes with it. I can understand what this rules try to attempt to do here. But sometimes an umpire needs to be argued (by the coach). But how far can you go with an umpire before you get tossed. Some umps will let you get your say while others have a quick trigger. But with the penalty so harsh, a coach has to be tenative with what he argues (especially in tullahoma's situation). And this can cause calls that should be argued not to be.
  14. As i had said before, before this occarance and after, he had not called that pitch a strike. And on this one particular player he called three straight. Thats not a coincidence. Other than this one incident, i thought he called a good game. But as i said you don't do crap like that as an umpire. He he doesn't belong on a baseball field if he has such little respect for its integrity. TigerJ, I am guessing you were at the game. I was just wondering where you were from.
  15. I would have found it hard to believe to if i wasn't there. But i happened to see it and it was that bad. As i said, they player wasn't paying attention to the foul ball because he was getting ready for his AB. Where are all the Oakland people at. They should know the name of the umpire. I know i always knew the people of the umpires at our place when i played. And most everyone else does to.
  16. I don't think alot of people caught what all was going on. The player this happened to didn;t realize what was going on till he had been told in the dugout why the umpire did it.
  17. I was told he did that, but i didn't see it so i didn't include it in my post. This is a guy who doesn't belong on a baseball field. And it has to make one question his integrity and character.
  18. I saw the last 4 innings, it was a heck of a game from what i saw. One thing i will say about Farragut (sp?) they put the ball in play. They have patience at the plate, and don't strike out much. From what i understand they were down a center fielder and a short stop. I don;t know who played third base in the tullahoma game, but i liked him. He got to balls i haven;t seen very many high school players get to. How long is it before Del Monico is back?
  19. I don't know who this guy was, or where he is from. But in the Oakland- Tullahoma game tonight, in Oakland, but the home plate umpire pulled one of the most classless things i have seen by an umpire. Ok, if any of ya'll have been to oakland, you know that the the backstop is probably about 20-25 feet behind the plate. Well there was a foul ball hit and it landed about halfway between the the plate and backstop. The umpire looks at the Tullahoma on deck hitter, who is preparing for his at bat and not looking at the umpire, like aren;t you going to get the ball. Well the umpire takes his three steps back to the ball, stands over the ball, kinda yells towards the tullahoma bench, points to the ondeck hitter, and then points to the ball. Now the guy who was on deck is at the plate. First pitch a foot off the plate is called a strike. The batter gives a little look. The next pitch is a shen high curve ball a foot off the plate, the umpire calls it strike. The batter gives him a stare, and then steps out to do his pre-pitch routine. As soon as he has stepped out of the box the umpire points at him and tells him to get into the box. The third pitch is a foot off the plate, and he rings him up for strike three. The batter looks at him and tells him thats horrible. (i don't condone this). For which the player gets ejected. The umpire hadn't called a single pitch like that before this batter and he didn't call one after. So its not like he just missed all three pitches. First, he showed up the guy while he was on deck and then made sure he got the point by calling pitches that weren't even close to a strike. This was a classless act. Its disrespectful to the game, and this umpire has no business umpiring a baseball game again. It's one thing just being bad, it's another when an umpire pulls crap like this.
  20. Trussler. you got to be kidding me.
  21. It's tullahoma, the game could have been moved to noon for the weather.
  22. Speaking of Tullahoma, you gotta think Coach Dyer is one of the top defensive coaches in the state.
