  1. This is the first time I have ever paid attention to the scheduling of the tournament. I was shocked to see they have so many games in such a short time. Its more of what you would expect in college softball than high school baseball. The tournament appear to be a pitching killer. Looking at the bracket, even if you don't lose to the championship game, you have to be 4 deep at pitching and if you lose 7 deep. I know the argument to this would be that the tournament rewards the deep pitching staff. But how many high school teams go 4 deep in plus pitching. The season is set up for teams to be 2 to 3 deep, then we get to the championship deciding tournament and teams have to be 5-6 and sometimes 7 deep. Its a tournament where the ace only pitches 1 game. Its set up in a way that tempts coaches to abuse arms. And in the end, do we really want the championship game to come down to 4's, 5's, and 6's or 1', 2's, and 3's.
  2. I am not blaming losing a football game on the band. If you get whooped you get whooped. There was no question about Tullahoma getting whooped. I was expressing my displeasure in the fact that at the biggest game of the year the band chose not to be a full participant in the football program.
  3. No. Just stating my opinion. My expectations of the band in the fall is to be at football games the entire year. I think that is the expectations of most of the coaches, players and fans as well.

  4. Being that the full band was not there and not in uniform, I would tend to say that the band was not there to support the team. I am glad to see some in the band decide to show up and support the team. As for the crowd, most fans don't stand for the entire game, except for the students and Mr. Fredrick. They do stand in big situations and scores, as they have always done. So it sounded like a typical crowd. I can understand leaving a little early as the game was over and it is one of the longer drives. I am also glad to see that you supported the football team as with many dealings with bands parents, i find they are shocked that a football game has formed around the halftime performance. I hope you continue to support the team as many of the athletes are sophomores and juniors and are expecting big things down the road.
  5. This disappoints me. Its not really that hard of a decision. Your the band, you show up to football games, no matter what happens the next day. If you really love supporting them, you show up, especially the biggest game of the year. Maybe its time to write "contracts" that actually cover the entire football season, since it is who they love to support.
  6. What really happened is Tullahoma fumbled a snap inside the 1 after a personal foul facemask. Kenwood recovered and kicked a field goal on their first play. Wheeler wouldn't have missed an extra point. Tullahoma hosted a palyoff game in three straight years. '97 Tullahoma hosted Springfield with Tremaine Turner where we lost 10-7 after we had a touchdown called back on a hold behind the play. '98 Tullahoma hosted Maplewood where we won. The next week we went to Pearl Cohn and lost 16-12 when Santonio Beard returned the opening kickoff and had another long touchdown run. In '99 we hosted Kenwood where they got out to a 14-0 lead in the first half and we lost 17-14 after the overtime field goal. EDIT: I think the Springfield game was a second round game, I think we hosted Cheatam County and won in the first round.
  7. I can't remember the last time we hung 62 on the board before. My best guess would have been back when Big Mo was in the backfield.
  8. That play has been in the play book for the past 12 years. I do believe that is the first time I can remember it being run. I'm more used to the fake punts being run than the fake field goals.
  9. Scott, Binns, great call on the radio tonight. I was streaming on line down here just outside of Houston, and was yelling 2 as soon as I heard Touchdown. From the call it sounded like the same fake field goal we practiced everyday in practice. I can't recall ever seeing it in a game, but I guess situations like these you pull out everything. Congrats Coach Olive and the Cats on a big time win. Binns, the last game I can remember won on the last play by Tullahoma was in 2000 (I think) against Antioch in that same endzone.
  10. If your kid is good enough to play college football he will be noticed at any school. I prefer Tullahoma, obviously. Tullahoma used to have the better school system, but i think the gap is getting closer. Tullahoma tends to have a better football program overall. But if your kid is good enough, he will be noticed, whether it be DIII or DI.
  11. Same old Coffee County. Big hype and expectations on before the year, same disappointing result at the end.
  12. What do you expect to see in the Tullahoma Columbia game.
  13. Being a former baseball player under the former coach and a football player under the other, I can say it was never discussed for me to play just one sport. And I played with several people that played multiple sports at the time. But there weren't many 3 sport athletes then either that I can recall, and if they were, it was track in the spring.
  14. I still remember in '04 or '05 there was tournament at Oakland where an umpire baited a player to argue with him so he could toss him. While the batter was on deck he was talking to a coach in the dugout and there was a foul ball back into the net. The umpire pointed at him to get the ball and the batter in the on deck circle was not paying attention so the umpire had to go get the ball. Apparently the umpire had no desire to get the ball. The first pitch was about a foot off the plate which was called a strike. The batter was displeased. The second pitch was a little further off the plate and called a strike, which again the batter was upset and and stepped out of the box to compose himself. The umpire directed him to get right back into the box. For the third pitch the catcher lined up off the plate again and the umpire tapped him to go a little further off the plate. The pitcher hit the mitt which was about 2 feet off the plate and was promptly call a strike. The batter looked back and said come on and instantly got tossed. Hopefully that is the last game this umpire was involved in. I think in that same tournament there was an umpire that lost track of balls and strikes which to me is unacceptable for an umpiring crew.

I don't know. Ever since I moved to Texas I only get scores. I don't really know who is playing and how good they are going to be.

Good luck ELA. I wish you some good seasons and several butt whoopins' from the boys in Tullahoma. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  19. As much as I hate to say it, congrats to the Red Raiders. Hopefully your grasp on the pot will be short lived.
  20. That was Mr. Dunlap that returned the ball for six just before the half in '97. It was the whole turning point in the game. That might have been the best atmosphere for I game I have ever played in. The stands filled up so they started seating people around the track. There had to be 10,000 people there. Just glad the good guys came out on top. The next two years the games weren'r really that close.
  21. Sounds like the typical Coffee County. Great Expectations with really poor results. I don't know why the fans do it to themselves, you would think they would learn.
  22. Are they starting over or just resuming play? I remember when this happened in Week 0 against White County. White County forced Tullahoma to drive up to Sparta to finish the game.
  23. How sad. I am not going to get to watch any Tullahoma football games this year. One of the disadvantages of moving to Texas. I won't be able to give any predictions this year because I haven't seen a practice or scrimmage yet. And the local Tullahoma news is really sorry at updating their website with the information about the football team.
  24. Bishop is the QB. A good athlete i think he will be ok at the QB position. I remember umpiring him back when he was in little league. I always thought he was the best player in the league.
  25. I would assume so, but I don't know. I remember watching him play little league baseball. I always thought he was the best player in the league as an 11 year old. I'm glad to see he has grown into a good athlete.
